Got sidetracked on my Bootcamp challenge due to my illness. Came off of whatever virus I had and got two days worth of migraines - so it's been a week since i've done a video. I did get to my yoga class tonight and that felt really good; but it didn't help with my migraine ;o(

I've been struggling with my food intake lately also - with all the sores I had in my mouth, my diet was pretty limited - now that I'm not so limited, I'm pushing WAY over my calorie limit. I know this is likely nature evening things out due to being sick and partly my migraines - and it will pass.

I made some strange progress...my lab partner and I had to clean out our storage room the other day, in hot, humid weather. As a result, I wound up actually splitting the jeans I was wearing right down the seam up the back (really embarrassing, but I have to wear a lab coat all day, so no one noticed!). My "replacement" jeans wound up being a size smaller than the jeans I ripped! (and I almost could have gone down another size!) emoticon

July 29, 2011 Sick and frustrated

Friday, July 29, 2011

I'm home sick today. I struggled to get through the day at work yesterday, got home and went right to bed. My hubby got me up and we fought a HUGE thunderstorm to go to dinner and go shopping (both of which were planned). After my nap, I was able to get through dinner and shopping - the power went out in 1/2 the town, so it took us a while to find someplace that was open. We wound up at Mad Mex. I had a a pork enchilada and a really good beer. I wasn't able to finish every thing on my plate (victory, here!). We did our shopping (Costco had just gotten their power back - good timing for us!) and I went home and back to bed.

I got up with my alarm this morning and realized my neck/throat/tounge(!) pain wasn't any better and now my head and back had joined the party. So, I emailed my supervisor telling him I thought I had strep throat (I'm not sure what this is, actually) and went back to bed. I just got up and realized that there is no way I'm going to get any workouts in today because I feel like a dung heap! Now, I know that being sick is an acceptable reason for not working out, but I'm really frustrated because I felt like I was really starting to make progress with my bootcamp workouts and seeing some changes in my body. So, I guess I'm a little concerned about getting pushed off-track and having to start all over again.

I know how you feel! I wasnt sick but I was very sore so I couldnt exercise yesterday and I felt awful about it. I learned that in order to lose weight we have to take care of ourselves especially if we are sick or sore cuz we will just be out of commission longer. Dont worry too much, just get better. Good luck. BTW I am adding you as a friend (hope you dont mind). TTYL emoticon

Stick with whatever you've been doing. This is only a temporary change. Take care of yourself, get well and you will feel renewed and rejuvenated enough to come back and give 'em hell! Huggss ~~Red

July 26, 2011 Day 16 of Bootcamp

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I haven't blogged at all for a while, but I have been keeping up with bootcamp (yeah, me!). I'm up to 40 minutes of cardio 5X/week. Today I was on the treadmill (still hot and humid, but getting better) reading and wound up going for almost 50 minutes and didn't even notice! I'm not ready to run on the treadmill - but I can walk at a pretty good pace and I use the incline - so I get a pretty good "glow going" (as I've seen one of my Spark Friends put it). emoticon

I'm starting to actually see some tone in my biceps and my thighs at my knees are looking trimmer. (Dummy me didn't take any before pictures, so I have to go totally on the mirror!) The scale is not being too friendly to me lately, I gained the two pounds back that I thought I lost (the same two pounds keep finding me!). So, I'm still firmly stuck on my plateau, but I'm feeling stronger - I'm hoping my latest weight gain was muscle!

Way to go with your exercise! You are going to see results on the scale, no doubt. I have been at that same up two, down two, for months.
But something just clicked, and I know the change is coming. I can tell that my clothing is becoming looser, and my body is changing too. I am ready.
And you will know it, when it hits you too.
Keep up the good work!!

July 19, Day 10 of Bootcamp

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Today was the day I chose to do my extra video - so I chose the lower body workout, and couldn't do the whole thing! I had to make an adjustment during the lunges and kickbacks because I couldn't keep my balance for the whole movement - I guess I better get myself back to a yoga class soon! So, I did both my upper body and lower body today and walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill - it's WAY too hot and humid here to walk outside (too bad, because I'd much rather walk the neighborhoods in the evening with my kids!).

I also managed to keep within my calorie count today! Yeah, me!

July 18, 2011 Day 9 of Bootcamp

Monday, July 18, 2011

I'm off a day on my challenge. This week, we start the videos over again, do 30 minutes of cardio 5X during the week and add 2 additional videos ( and comment on them on the team page). I didn't get to do the day one video yesterday, but I know from last week, it is a 10 minute cardio video. I spent most of the day yesterday emptying garbage, hauling ice and transferring softball equipment from one car to another. I also managed to fit in 3 loads of laundry once the tournaments were over - so while I didn't fit the video in - I was moving (not sitting on my butt all day), so I'm counting the day as "following the plan".

I'm starting to notice some muscle tone in my arms and legs that wasn't there before - not sure if its the little bit of tan I've gotten from the softball fields or the videos - either way I'll take it. My 9 year old tells me that my arms are getting "hard, Mom", then she mimics the "fire power" scene that Adonis does in "Night at the Museum"! LOL!

I actually stayed within my calorie count today! Yeah!
