October 2, 2012 really struggling

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

I've been really struggling lately. I can (occasionally) squeeze in a work out - and yes, it's squeezing it in or I can manage to eat right for (maybe) a day or two - then I get thrown a curve and it all thrown out the window, plus I can't seem to get both the fitness and the eating on the same page at the same time. My sweet tooth has come back in full force.

Home life has been crazy trying to adapt to the kid's practice scehdules. Work is even worse...

I am in the same boat as you are! It is so frustrating isn't it? When you find a solution that works, let me know! I'll do the same! I have 2 little kids (4 and 18 months) and I can't seem to find time or energy for me. To top it off, I am an emotional eater...I eat for comfort. Good luck with it. One suggestion: don't give up! One day it has to get easier and come together, right?!

I have kids in dance (competition). It is hard, and hectic, and crazy! But we can do this. We are worth this! We deserve this happiness!!!!

I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.’Maya Angelou

Obstacles don't have to stop you.
If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up.
I know life can get very busy and stressful the biggest thing to remember is that this journey is a one day at time can planning your meals on the week end do some batch cooking like they talk about in the cooking challenge. maybe 10 minutes works at a time in the evening between TV shows those ten minutes add up fast .

And you think you are alone in this - why? Anyone who has kids probably experiences some of this - I know we do. Ideas:

1. Drink the Sparky water no matter what, every day.

2. Get impulse foods out of your house.

3. Buy healthy snack options at the grocery store - keep some on-hand in your desk or in the car.

4. Park far and walk it. Take the stairs.

5. Use your weekends judiciously.

Hang in there!

August 29, 2012 I gained how much?!

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

I'm back from the beach - it was a really good vacation, the kind where you lose track of what day of the week it is. Came back to reality, back to work, back to school for the kids, back to workouts for me and stepped onto the scale - I gained around 6 pounds in a week. So, I'm back to ground zero on my weight loss and started bodypump from scratch. The good news in all this was I was able to do the squat track with more weight than I've been working with - so all is not lost. I did take some day one measurements, so I'll have a more objective measure of progress than the scale.

I am glad you had a nice vacation! I know it's hard when you "fall off the wagon" so to speak with your weight loss, but there is always today to get back on track! It sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude and that will always take you far! Keep on believing in yourself! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

August 4, 2012 Gained some weight, but maybe that's good?

Saturday, August 04, 2012

I gained weight (again!) this weigh in, but I'm 3 weeks into BodyPump (last week was more like a 1/2 week due to my daughters' softball schedules!), but THIS time I'm thinking the weight gain is muscle mass! I can definitely see more tone in my arms (even my super critical 13yo has commented on this!) and I'm even starting to see some hints of muscle beneath the padding on my thighs! So, while I'm not thrilled with the number on the scale, I'm certainly starting to see good changes in my body!

I have a love hate relationship with the scale. I prefer to forget the scale most of the time. I do exercise much and I too have times where I do not agree with the scale. I try to not get on the scale regular and go by how I feel in clothes and in my skin. emoticon

July 19, 2012 Finding my spark again!

Thursday, July 19, 2012

So, I fell off the wagon, got run over by the wagon, and now I've pulled myself back up onto the wagon. The downward slide started months ago when my kids schedules started to get crazy and this mom discovered she had a very necessary second job as taxi driver. I started missing my yoga classes, 'cause i was taking this kid to practice and that kid to a game. At first, I was substituting a walk with the dog for the yoga class, but that didn't last too long. Before long, I had quit going to class (didn't have time) and quit walking the dog (it was too hot out, games went too late, I was too tired). Before I knew it WEEKS had gone by and I hadn't worked out and now my eating was slipping, too. My jeans were getting tight, there was extra jiggle under my shirts - I felt cruddy all the time...A few weeks ago I found I had a night free (really, NOTHING was scheduled!) and there was a class scheduled at the Y that I had been meaning to try, so I squeezed into some workout clothes that hardly fit anymore and got myself over to a Bodypump class. I'm so glad I did! It was probably the hardest class I've ever taken, but also the most fun! For anyone that doesn't know what this is...it is a low weight, high rep, fitness class. Most of the exercises are done with a barbell, but you use between 10-30 pounds on them and then do TONS of reps at different tempos (so you don't get bored)- if you don't feel a "burn", then you're not using a high enough weight! Then, my hubby told me that I could BUY the program and do it at home! So we did! I'm one week into it and I'm feeling really good! I can fit it into my schedule and I don't have to go any farther than downstairs! There's a series of about 6 DVD's to mix between (even a yoga session), so it doesn't get stale.

May 7, 2012 CRAZY DAY

Monday, May 07, 2012

Really crazy day at work today. I was out sick the end of last week and today was my first day back - and I wish I could have been out another day or two!! One problem I thought I had fixed before I was out reared its ugly head again, so I spent most of the day working on that so we (my company) didn't shut a customer's plant down because we don't have any "good" product to supply. All because we ran a bulk tank dry and served up a load of crud and didn't clean it up! Ugh! Still trying to prove THAT to the powers that be, because of course it costs money to take a bulk tank down and clean it. (Of course, we have NO problem telling our customers the VERY SAME THING - they even get a recommended cleaning schedule for tanks filled with our products!)

Then I got to participate in a 90 minute conference call (after hours, of course!) for a problem that's going to end up as a claim that resembled a clip from the "Keystone Kops" more than an actual scientific inquiry as the parties involved played CYA.

Top it off with the most obnoxious sales guy calling wanting an update on "his" work. I told him the "due to priorities and illness" his requests hadn't been started and wouldn't be until next week. His response was that he "needed" resolutions by the end of the week. Well, it's nice to want something - but the way this week is working out, if you're not on the verge of closing a plant or have a claim - it's just not going to happen (fortunately, my supervisor agrees!). Whew! Nice to vent!

I wound up going about 200 calories over for the day - I think that's about the number of calories in the beer I had with dinner! I did get out and walk the dog (yea me!) - but got home too late to do any of the "spring challenge" videos - so, I'm behind on those yet again.
