Three Pants Sizes Down in Under Three Months?!? (w/pic)

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

This is insane. I had only recently grown into size 26 when I decided to change my life on February 25, 2012 (the pic is dated later because I didn't take a before pic right away). I was kind of between sizes, wearing a 24 in some pants and a 26 in others. So perhaps I've only lost two and a half sizes. Either way, at 25.8 pounds down I'm fitting in pants that I haven't been able to wear in almost a year (I gained 30 pounds last year). They're a size 20! And I didn't even have to struggle to get them buttoned or zipped! In honor of how smoking hot I felt in them (lol), I took a progress pic to compare to my before pic. Today is the first day I've actually seen change that is more than just minute. And it feels AMAZING.

Creative Weight Loss Visualization

Monday, May 14, 2012

So total credit goes to KAESEA78 for this idea. She made thermometers that each equaled 10 pounds total, and colored in more of the thermometer for each pound she lost. I didn't want thermometers hanging all over my walls though, so I made flowers!

1 petal (or center) per full pound lost. With the picture resized for the blog, it's hard to tell, but each petal has the date that I officially dropped that pound on it (all Saturdays, since that's the only day I weigh in).

I have 11 more flowers waiting to get colored in, but I'm not even hanging them until I start coloring each one in. That way I'm not discouraged by how far I have to go, but can be encouraged by what I've accomplished so far.

What a pretty reminder of how far I've come!

Awesome idea!! My motivation is hanging on a hanger on my bedroom wall. It's a dress that I wore in my 20's that is a size 12...and I had a figure to die for. My mom who is gone now, made it for me. I would love to fit back into it and get my picture w/my daughter taken in it!!

When Life Gets In The Way

Friday, May 04, 2012

I've missed you, SparkPeople. And I've missed all of you, Spark friends. I think perhaps the title is a misnomer. Life hasn't gotten in the way of me sparking so much as I've just gotten lazy. I wasn't the best teammate to my BLC friends during week 1, and promised myself I'd do better this week. And so what happened? I proceeded to spend most of this week off of SP, aside from logging my nutrition and fitness. I even forgot to spin the login wheel one day, and ruined my 56-day streak!

So to my BLC teammates and other Spark friends, I'm sorry I haven't been there for you. I'm sorry I haven't been reading your blogs and spreading encouragement. I know I'm not obligated to do so, but I enjoy the time I spend interacting with you all. Plus, I think somehow it helps motivate me to do my best as well. And I've certainly been slacking on the exercise and freggie sides of things lately!

So here I am. I won't promise to be as "perfect" in my sparking as I have been in the past (for awhile, I was getting 85-100 SparkPoints a day!), because that's not sustainable in the long-term, and if I start to fall off the wagon I may take an all-or-nothing approach and start ignoring you all again. But I do promise to spend more time here so I can be there for you guys, and in return perhaps gain some motivation to make more positive choices in my life.

I've been on SparkPeople for less than 10 weeks, but I already love this place. If I disappear again, don't fret: I'll be back.

I am so glad you broke your spin streak! Muahaha. No seriously maybe that will help lighten up your 'perfectionism', lol. See it is OKAY to mess up now and again! Glad to see you are still with us.

Awww, it's ok. The important thing is that you are back and that you are not giving up on your journey! I think it's good to recognize all-or-nothing thinking and to challenge it with progress, not perfection. emoticon
