Just 20 Pounds.

Thursday, March 06, 2014

On Yahoo news today I was reading an article about all the benefits of just releasing 20 pounds. I talked this over with my DH, and I think he is really on board with my program now. We discussed meals and exercise. He even agreed to use the 45 day gym pass to go with me. I get them periodically. One very conveniently came in the mail yesterday.

The article mentioned that 20 pound gone drops you at least one clothing size. The problem with that is each manufacturer seems to have its own ideas of what the size is. I think some go bigger is sizing to get customers to feel smaller and want to buy their brand. I just want to get back into the jeans that I already own.

I haven't moved forward much this week with food or exercise. With DH's support I believe my journey will speed up, and I will make more progress. emoticon

That is so wonderful that you got your husband on board!!!
My love, Al, decided to join SparkPeople a little over a week ago!
We, like you guys, now talk more about meals & daily fitness minutes than we ever have! I love it & feel it is bringing us even closer!
It feels so amazing when you inspire someone you love & want the absolute best for to get on board with doing something that will drastically improve the quality of both your lives! I am so, so, SOOO happy that because of SparkPeople we will be able to live many more healthier, happier days together! Al has already dropped about 6lbs, mostly water I suppose but with the way he is catching on with the nutrition & fitness aspects required to make substantial quality of life changes, I just know he will succeed & that we will succeed together:) So happy for the two of you!!!
Stay Positive,

A friend told me about Jon Gabriel and the Gabriel Weight Loss Method. He emphasizes visualization and meditation as integral parts of the process. After listening to his video and reading some of his articles, I thought the idea made sense. So I accepted the 1 month free use of his web site to see if this is for me. They e-mailed me three of the visualizations which I will start today. The others are available free during this month if one has an I Pod or an Mp3player which I don't. If I like the ones available now, I will buy the CD's. This new addition will be an adjunct to what SparkPeople offers. Nothing that I have found can replace SP for me.

The site also has a fitness page with additional exercises to the ones I have been doing. These are short time exercises that one can do off and on throughout the day. I like that as I am just rebuilding my strength and energy after being sick so much during the past year.

Going for my best. emoticon at work here. emoticon

No More Excuses

Friday, February 28, 2014

This spring there will be no more excuses. No Zero exercise minutes each week.
Exercise, exercise, exercise. My motto is "No more excuses. Just do it no matter what."

New month: new start. I am committed to a kick butt season. I can put this off no longer. Good health is the reward for which I am seeking. I know I can do this, and I intend to give it my All.

Goals--Summer, 2013

Sunday, June 09, 2013

This blog is for stating the steps I will use to reach my goals to lose weight and be healthy during the 12 week challenge and hopefully will continue thereafter.

1. Good nutrition
A. Measure and weigh my food.
B. Track whatever crosses my lips into my journal and figure the calories to stay between 1200-1500 per day.
C. Plan menus ahead and purchase what will be needed for preparation.
D. Drink 6 glasses of water per day. (Doctor's orders.)
E. Do not eat ice cream or candy, my faves.

2. Exercise
A. Program recommended by a medical specialist for exercise at a level he recommends.
B. After permission, go to gym to do as much of the routine prescribed by the physical therapist as agreed to by Dr.

I will continue going to their gym in the afternoons through the summer. That time has been set aside for 3 months and continues to be my best time. It works as I am not a morning person. Afternoons are best.

As far as rewards along the way are concerned I really don't need any material things. Books and plants give me pleasure, so I will use those for my rewards. I'm going to base those on any amount of weight lost or measurement reduced during each week. AT the end of 12 weeks, if I have dropped a dress size, I will get some new piece of clothing in the new size.

Spark Solution--Week One

Sunday, May 19, 2013

My by arrived and I have read parts of it. I decided to use the Spark Solution Program because it has all the meals plan for two weeks with recipes, swaps and shopping list. Being able to use Spark Coach free for three months was another incentive.

Between the book, the team and Spark Coach I am exercising and tracking my food. I do the food tracking daily. SC suggested that I start doing a 10 video with Nichole each day and build up my energy from there and that is what I am doing.

The thing I like most about the program is the planning is all done for me. I just have to shop. The other thing I like is the daily use of SC. My favorite meal was Southwestern Chicken. I froze some so we could have it again this week.

Most of the tips I already know. The one I used is the change up. I have a calorie range which I stay within. But I try not to eat the some number of calories each day. Got to keep my body guessing.

My main goal this week is to keep exercising 10 minutes for five days alternating cardio and ST.

Here is the link to the book's web site:
