Breakfast: 1 fried egg over quiona and pea shoots w basil, rice vinegar and olive oil dressing. 1 slice turkey bacon - 9pts

Went to the park for lunch and had a picnic with my daughter lyra and my baby archer. It was 70 degrees and beautiful. Afterwards me and lyra pushed archer in his stroller while we walked around the park. It was a really great afternoon.

Lunch: Large salad with chick peas and light tuna pouch, light ceasar dressing, greek yogurt with vanilla and splenda, and a small apple - 7pts

Activity: 22 minutes brisk walking outside

Later that afternoon I let Aiden and Lyra play outside on the playground we recently built in the back yard. I got to destress while watching desprate housewives and drinking a cup of coffee. It worked out really nicely because I was able to sit and feed Archer his bottle and see the kids from the window in the kitchen. So I got some me time and was still able to keep an eye on them and feed him. :-)

Snack: coffee & pear - 1 pts

At like 3 I was starving and felt like I wanted to go in the cabinet and start binge eating. I wanted to eat a lot of whatever I ate. I decided to make a huge pan of vegetable stir fry instead because I knew I could eat a really big portion and not screw myself for the entire day. consisted of 1/2 cup brown rice, 2 or 3 cup chopped napa cabbage, water chestnuts, scallions, baby corn and soy sauce. It was really good and really filling and yes I ate the entire pan. :-)

Snack - vegetable stir fry with brown rice - 4pts

Dinner - gorton's grilled fish fillet, green giant cauliflower and cheese, idahoan instant mashed potatoes - 6pts

I saw this thing on the news where they went to this place near me in charlotte that makes these yogurt drinks. They are called frush. They are apparently made from real fruit and its a local product so I decided to give it a try since they were on sale and I had a coupon which made it 0.50 cents a bottle. I drank half and then looked at the calories and realized that it was 200 calories and 5 pts a bottle! It was good but not that good! So I gave the other half to my daughter. wont be drinking anymore frush lol

Snack - half bottle frush yogurt drink - 3 pts

Snack - cinnamon baked apples & ice cream (basically just peeled and chopped apples with some cinnamon sprinkled on top and baked for 15 minutes in the oven... adds bulk without pts.) - 3 pts

Total: 33
Target - 32 pts

Food Blog ~ Sunday 1/27/13

Yesterday was a good day for me. I woke up early and did not eat breakfast because I had a weight watchers meeting and I never eat before I weigh in. In retrospect I should have packed breakfast to eat afterwards, expecially since I was planning on going to trader joes afterwards to pick up a few things. I did not pack something though so I ended up not eating breakfast yesterday.

My weigh in went really well though. I lost two pounds which is great because I expected to gain weight after being sick for the past few weeks and being on all sorts of medications. So happy dance for me :-)

After weight watchers I stopped by trader joes. I have really been missing that store. I havnt been in months and months because I live about 30 minutes away from it and I have not been in that area in a while. Luckly the sunday morning meeting at weight watchers is right next to trader joes. I got some organic apples (because the apples I bought from the regular supermarket taste like pestiside.... really gross) and some salad greens, pea shoots, rice pasta, black beans, gluten free oatmeal and gluten free buns.... all really good stuff. I love trader joes. I can get a big bag of quinoa there for like $3.99 when a bag that is smaller cost about $5.99 at the regular supermarket. Im going to start going to the sunday morning meeting in Charlotte from now on which will give me a good excuse to pick up a few things each week. :-)
I was tempted to grab some organic chocolate on my way out the door. I was getting kinda hungry... but I didnt.

I decided to stop by Marshall's on the way home but when I got there it wasnt opened yet. I only had about 25 minutes or so until the store opened thugh so while waiting I walked a loop around the super target parking lot for 25 minutes instead of sitting in the car on my iphone for that time. It was pretty cold but it was nice being outside.

So I was at Marshall's because I really need a new pair of jeans. I am wearing yoga pants right now because nothing else fits me. I went to walmart and got a few pairs of yoga pants two weeks ago so I wouldnt have to keep tugging up the maternity jeans I was wearing before. I have been feeling really bad about my appearance lately though and figured an outfit that actual fit me would maybe make me feel a bit better. Well I found out real quick that I am not a size 14 or a size 16... Turns out I am now a size 18! I did not perceive myself as being that big again. I know its a far cry from the size 26 I was a few years ago but my mind had finally adjusted to being a size 8. Even though I know that I will get back there fast and my new little bundle of joy was worth it, I still cant help but be a little sad about it.
Long story short, Marshall's had two pairs of size 18 jeans that were on sale :-( ... One pair was skinny jeans, which I didnt really want and the other pair was still like $30 on sale. Between $10-$15 is all I am willing to spend on a pair of jeans I dont plan on being in for very long. So I left empty handed and still in Yoga pants. Sigh.

I got back home around noonish and was starving. I made lunch for my family and then made myself lunch. After that it was pretty much just business as usual. Nothing really eventful happened just feedings and diaper changes and quite a bit of TV watching. I had a good day though, I got some stuff accomplished in the morning, I got some time to myself and some activity in which really helped with the stress level which means less yelling at the kids, and I did really well with my eating and tracked everything.

Only thing missing was a good nights rest. I have not had one of those in so long. sigh. small steps.

.......

Lunch - Turkey sandwich on gluten free bread with pea shoots and cranberry mustard. 1 cup fresh pineapple. 1 mozzarella cheese stick. - 8 points

Snack: apple - 0 pts
snack: kozy shack pudding - 4 pts
snack: grape fruit cup - 0pts

Dinner: 3 gluten free crispy chicken tacos with light blue cheese dressing and lettuce, steamed broccoli, brown and wild rice with veggies - 13 pts.

After dinner I was really hungry and I knew what I had planned (a gluten free cookie with ice cream) would not fill me up so I decided to eat a plate of veggies before hand just to add something else to my stomach before eating the treat I had planned.

snack: veggies & 1 tbls light ranch - 1pt

snack: Fresh baked gluten free cookie topped with vanilla ice cream - 7 pts.

(I have come to the realization that I cant bake a whole pack of gluten free cookie dough or I will eat all 12 cookies within one day. I now keep the pack in a freezer bag in the freezer and only pull out 1 ball of cookie dough on the night I plan on eating it. This has worked really well for me and gives me the chance to eat something I really really like without going overboard.)

....

A good day!

I love looking at your food blogs they give me some ideas! As for the jeans I know what you mean.... why pay so much when you don't want to wear them that long. Walmart has some new jeans that are elastic in waist and called just my size for 16 dollars. Maybe those would work. They have cute back pockets and don't look like "fake " jeans. LOL.... good luck

Friday, January 25, 2013

This is just a general outline of my goal for meals and workouts for the next couple of days. I figure on Tuesday I will reassess what the food in the house looks like and come up with another few days worth of meals. I have not really planned meals in the past year because I find it to be time consuming. I have to say its one of my least favorite things to do but it also helps me a lot so I need to reintroduce it.

I am also planning my workouts for the next few days. I am going to try to be specific in not only what I am going to do but also when I am going to do it on that day. That way maybe I can avoid getting all the way to bedtime and saying "oh crap, I never worked out"... I am keeping my workouts light because I have yet to go to my post pregnancy doctors appt. Even though I feel pretty good I want to get the green light from my doctor at my appt. on Tuesday before I bump up the intensity.

It's a time investment, but you'll definitely recoup the investment in multiple ways. When I do a chore the night before or the day before I consider it as a "gift" to my Future Self.

Future Self usually sighs and says "Thanks" to responsible old Past Self!

That all sounds like a great plan to me Jess! You can do this!
I just decided today to give up on tracking my food just yet. I have a big appetite with nursing, and everything going into my mouth is healthy, so it's all good for right now. I don't need to stress about that - heck, Carly isn't even a week old yet anyway!

I look forward to goal setting with you real soon! Keep up the great work!

2013 - new year & new addition

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Well last year was mostly filled with being pregnant and it actually went by very quickly. Here I am in 2013 and I am a new mommy again for the 3rd time and very happy. My pregnancy went well, better than the other two by 100%. I attribute that to starting at a healthy weight this time.

I was due to have my little one on Jan 5th 2013 but as it happened he wanted out early and I had him at 37 weeks on December 18th 2012. What a great labor and delivery! I did have about 4 days of prelabor symptoms but on the morning of the 18th when labor actually started it was quick. I started having contractions at 6am in the morning and by 11am I was pushing my little boy out. Everything went great, I hardly had any bleeding, I was up walking around in a few hours and home the next day.

Its now almost 6 weeks later and I am trying to get back to my healthy lifestyle. I did slack quite a bit during my pregnancy, especially during my 1st trimester because I had some pretty wicked morning sickness and wanted to constantly eat bread to settle my stomach. I ended up gaining like 25 lbs just in the first few weeks. Its been a pretty good 5 weeks. I have felt much better than I did after having my other two kids. I have been up and running around and havnt had the horrible mood swings and constat pain I had before. I am sooo happy I was at a healthy place before having little archer. :-) ... I have had some stress here and there. Breast feeding was going the best it ever had gone. Archer latched on like a pro, but he wasnt gaining any weight after all my best attempts. I ended up putting him exclusivly on formula and he started gaining weight. Made me sad and pretty stressed out but Im just happy he is good now.

Now I am just trying to get into a good routine again which is not the easiest thing with a new born.

I went back to weight watchers 4 weeks post baby and ended up losing 4.4 lbs the first week but then I got sick. I got really really sick. I have been sick for the past 2 and a half weeks with bronchitis. After two separate trips to the doctor and 2 different anti-biotics and a prescription of steroids I am finally starting to feel better. I'm still sick but I don't feel like I'm going to die at least. I haven't been back to weight watchers yet since I got sick but I am pretty sure I gained back everything I had lost and maybe plus some because of the medications I was on. The home scale has not been kind.

I have to just move past that though because there was nothing I could do about being on the medication and I am better off for it even though I gained some weight on it.

But anyway, I am hoping to be more active with spark people again. I miss my spark friends and the support I had before and I miss blogging... even though its an inconvenience to get on the computer. (I pretty much do everything I do online from my smart phone now).

I am also looking forward to winter being over! I hate winter so much. When will spring get here. I hate being in the house and its hard enough to get out and about with a newborn and a 4 year old, let alone go out with them when the high of the day is 33 degrees. Its too cold to be outside and I feel all shut up here in the house. I am so looking forward to spring!

.....

For your viewing pleasure some pictures of my beautiful life which has gotten even better in the last 6 weeks. I am truly blessed.

Me a few days before having Archer
