.......

Workout - 20 minutes of dancing while I cleaned... I was so busy so I had to try and be extra active while I cleaned up. I did work up a sweat doing it though.

..........

I would go into more detail here but I am really afraid someone might sue me after reading some of the new hire paperwork I read. lol.

First night (and last) working for weight watchers

well last night I started my training as a receptionist for weight watchers. I observed only. long story short I realized after a lot of thought that this job is a whole lot of work for a very small amount of pay. $17 a meeting for 2.5 hours of counseling people, selling products, signing people up for memberships, weighing people in, teaching ect ect... plus a very large amount of paperwork, all done by hand the old fashioned way. You would think a (I assume) multimillion dollar company would be able to spring for some sort of system that worked through laptop computer.

When it came down to it, I did not feel it was for me. I wanted to help motivate others to achieve there weight loss goals but if I did this job I would feel like a slave. I will just have to get that warm fuzzy feeling from helping others here on spark, and that's fine with me. :-)

    lol, thanks :-)

BTW.... my appologizes for all the frozen dinners I have been eating. I had a bunch of really great coupons so I had to jump on it. I know frozen meals are not the most exciting thing to look at... hense the reason why I plate them the way I do and add extra veggies... gotta make everything I eat look appealing in some way or I want to eat more even if I am not hungry... thats just how I am.
I will create some more creative things next week. :-D

Wow...I had no idea that was all they paid! I had thoughts of training to be a receptionist once I made Lifetime. My next door neighbor is a receptionist, and I know they are very strict with her weight, but we never discussed money. For 2.5 hrs work, $17 isn't even minimum wage. I'm glad you realized it wasn't for you!

That is a lot of work for so little money. I'm glad you can say NO to a job you really felt you wouldn't enjoy. So many people just do things they hate to do. Life is to short for that! Have a great day! emoticon

Your right they do get a percentage of sales. The lady training me added up what she would get at the end of the night from sales and told me what it was. $0.01 ... That's right, a penny! Omg. They only sold about 5 products but I have not seen things fly off the shelves at any meeting so I'm sure for a meeting that size it was about average.

Yeah, that seems like a lot for little money!

I do like the idea of plating a frozen dinner and making it look a little fancier.

you did such a great job plating that turkey dinner - it looks better than it does on the box :)

I'm glad you are listening to your inner voice and not doing something if it doesn't feel right for you - you have to do what makes you happy

you do a great job here inspiring and motivating :) emoticon(a little "warm and fuzzy" chicky)

Interesting perspective, I have given some serious thought of applying for a job there when I hit goal. I thought it would be a great way for me to help others and keep myself in check to. I thought that those 'working' the meeting also got a percentage of the sales of any products during that meeting time to? Is that not true? My center seems to sell tons of products

You right, $17 does not worth the work, paperwork and time you put into. Let someone else help all those people. I can understand it! :) Hey you can always motivate me if you feel like doing something for free ;)

Dinner - Ruby Tuesday to - go

Ruby Tuesday Avocado Turkey burger - 1/2 portion
1 serving mashed cauliflower
Salad
and a swiped peice of Cici's pizza that I did not plan on eating but did
26 points plus

Daily Target: 29 points
Total Points used today: 44
weekly points remaining: 28 out of 49

.............

I felt bad about what I ate for dinner at first, really horribly guilty. Here is the story. My birthday is next week on the 20th and I signed up for all these free birthday offers from restuarants last year. I got a free birthday burger coupon yesterday from ruby tuesday so I figured that me and my hubby could split the meal and it would be free and not too bad on points. Then I looked up the points and found out how many points I would be using if I did that and decided I would let hubby take the burger and I would eat the salad I got on the side.
I got the food home and was sooo hungry and the burger looked really good so I changed my mind and split it. I felt bad afterwards though, like I should have been perfect yesterday because I was doing this food blog and people would see what I ate. I came so close to not taking the picture and just skipping Sunday all together, or at least removing the slice of pizza that really made me look like a pig, before I took the picture, but I really wanted to be honest about what I ate, so I took the picture of everything real fast before I changed my mind, ate it and then I tracked it and I owned up to it.... even that slice of pizza I took from the kids food, which was not planned at all, it just looked good at the time.

Paying for it today though. even with two lactaid the meal has really torn my stomach up. I have been eating alot of dairy lately and a lot of lactaid with it and the lactaid is not really helping much, so I need to really cut back like I was before.

I have decided that I should not feel bad about what I ate last night though. I have been trying to hard to be perfect and maybe that is my problem. I try to be perfect and then fail at it, because I am not perfect... no one is. I was not perfect when I lost all my weight, so why should I be perfect now that I am trying to lose the last 10lbs? During my whole weight loss journey I would go to meetings on Saturday morning, I would weigh in and usually do pretty good and then you know what I would do? I would go out that night and eat anything I wanted. I would go out to Ruby Tuesday or Fridays or the chinese buffet even and I would eat what ever I wanted and blow every single weekly point I had! I knew thats what I would do, I planned it and it worked for me. I would do great the rest of the week and I would feel no guilt at all for doing it because I tracked it and it was allowed. I always figured maybe I would lose a little more than 1 pound a week if I cut that out but I never did and maybe that is a good thing, because maybe I would have felt crazy like I do now and eat bad things throughout the week instead of on one controled day.
Maybe I need to bring my Saturday ritual back. Maybe I have just been trying to be too perfect because I feel like I need to live up to the pride I feel in myself and the pride others feel in me. I dont need to do that though, I am human, I am not perfect and I am posting the pictures of my horrible meal... made a little less horrible by the fact that I did split it in half.

I thought I would feel embarrassed doing that, but I dont. I just know that I am now going to keep the eating that I do, like this, to the weekends so I dont go overboard anymore.

I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.
I am in a good mood, It is the first day that I start training as a receptionist working for weight watchers. I am a bit nervous and a bit excited, I am just hoping I dont fail horribly.

    Jess,

I think you are a very disciplined person, and I enjoy your photo food blogs immensely. You are an inspiration! Going out to eat has always been so difficult for me. I don't want to go out to eat and pay good, hard-earned money for a salad. I can make a salad at home! So I my out-to-eat meals tend to be things I would not normally cook for myself or little splurges, and, yes, those points when totaled up can sometimes be jaw-dropping. The thing is, you had your weekly points to use. And you still have some left for the rest of the week. While we don't always make the best choices and while sometimes we don't follow through with our plans when we're face-to-face with temptation, you were honest, you blogged about it, and you counted the points plus. In my book, that is working the program.

Good luck with your receptionist training! How exciting!

That pumpkin schnapps looks real good to me too. And in hot cocoa no less. I think that knowing ahead of time will keep my hand out of the junk drawer. Thanks for the food blogs. Great idea.

One day maybe I'll do a food blog. I love seeing what other people eat. My little slice of bread with two ounces of turkey and a pickle spear isn't quite as pretty as your fancy looking meals though.

update

Saturday, November 12, 2011

ok so I worked out twice since I last blogged, once on wednesday and then again today. The last part of this week has not gone so well, I ate like crap!!! Complete overeating and eating junk in general. So I could hang my head in shame or I could just try to get back on track.

So Im back on track. I did pretty good today. I woke up this morning and did a 30 minute walk/jog combination at the park. I have an ipod app that has a couch to 5k program on it, and thats what I am starting out with. It breaks into the music I listen to to tell me when to start or stop running/walking. Its conveinient and worth the 1.99 I paid for it 6 months ago. I never used it 6 months ago, but I bought it. So at least I am now getting my money worth. I just have to keep up with it.

I decided that I wanted to start jogging again because when I was training for the 5k I ran last year, it was so much eaiser to drop weight. OMG I just sneezed and lost 3 pounds. It was great! Its nice because, although it sucks, expecially when you are starting out, its a pretty no brainer workout, you just put one foot in front of the other for a certain amount of time and there is a constant change in the surroundings which is much better than sitting in front of the tv or staring at a spot on the wall while you elliptical for 30 minutes.

My first workout was not as hard as I imagined it. I guess I was expecting it to be just as hard as the first workout I had when I was training before. I was of course 50 pounds heavier then so that makes a big difference. OMG it was almost impossible back then to run for 30 seconds at a time and today running 1 minute at a time was very very doable. I could have run for longer to tell the truth, but I am going to gradually build myself up.

I took pictures of all my food today and I thought I did pretty well. When I added it all up I was a few points over though. My dinner ended up being a little points heavy because of some vegetables that counted for more than zero (most plain green veggies are zero points but once you start getting into beans and peas, veggies with sauce and other higher calorie veggies your looking at 1 - 3 points a serving).

I will post a food blog tomorow morning once I download the pics. Im too tired to do it tonight.

Hope everyone had an awesome Saturday!!!

~ Jess

yes it never really gets much easier, there are just days that are eaiser and days that are harder, but its always hard. I think I am just hard wired to be overweight so I am going to have to keep tabs on myself my whole life. It sucks but its the reality of it. I feel like an alcholic in recovery... just with food, only problem is you need food every day so its a constant battle to make the good choices that I need to make.

29 is the lowest weight watchers recommends. I would like to continue losing so I eat at 29 points, I end up usually overeating or nibbling during the week and maintain. Its hard.

Oh yeah I love your food blogs. your so crafty and i'm so plain in my planning. you always give me great ideas. You would think that once we got to a certain place the rest would be easy, why then is it so hard to stay on track? We always seem to head back the old ways when we hated the way they made us feel.
