Halloween Photos

I made my own costume this year. Made my daughters too. One of the things on my big list of things to do in my life is dress in a sexy halloween costume. I dont think this quite counts, but I felt pretty awesome in it. Pretty good for not really having much sewing experience.

I ate horribly yesterday, but back on track today as always. Mess up, get back on track right away.

I hope everyone had an awesome halloween!!!

Park Workout

I am so sore, still! I took my kids to the park on Monday to play and since they really hate taking walks at the park and I needed to get some sort of activity in I decided that while they played I would keep myself moving and get that workout in.

I walked and ran around the perimiter of the playground, I did jumping jacks, I did walking lunges, I did squats, I did picnic table pushups (feet on the gound with hands leaning on table top of the picnic table) which are quite effective, and I did step ups using the bench of the picnic table.

I moved for an hour and I am still feeling it. My legs and my butt and my chest are all sore, two days later.

I got some pretty strange looks from people. Like "what the heck is that lady doing?" but I herd some other people talking and it sounded like they were pretty impressed. Most moms just sit on the park bench or picnic tables and watch there kids play, I was using them as workout equipment and I was not using the excuse that I don't have time.

I'm planning on taking Lyra to the park this afternoon and Im going to do the same thing. It is a really great workout, I can see why the contestants on the biggest loser end up dropping large numbers on the days when the gym is closed and they have to workout outside.

Make time for yourself today! No excuses.

    Sounds like a great workout you got there! I seriously need to stop making the excuse that I don't have the time. I'm an insomniac....I always have the waking time to do things haha. Thanks for the playground tips!

    That's awesome! I do the same thing when I take Preston to the park. I walk around and try to create some other exercise with the playground equipment. Luckily for me, the playground is in my complex and nobody is ever really around, lol!

Moe's Southwest grill inspired Burrito Salad - Recipe

Moe's inspired Burrito - no tortilla
1 serving - 435 calories


I prep all ingredients before hand and keep them in tuperware containers in the fridge. Then I just need to heat up the steak, rice and black beans and everything eles is ready.

1/2 cup brown rice
1/2 cup black beans
2 oz cooked lean steak strips
1 cup lettuce
sprinkle of cilantro, I like alot, but thats me
1/4 cup shredded fat free cheddar
2 - 3 tbls salsa
Diced fresh tomato
Diced fresh or Jarred Jalapeno
1-2 Tbls fat free plain greek yogrut (or sour cream)
Juice from one lime wedge

Heat up steak, black beans and rice and add to center of plate. add other ingredients around the steak, black beans and rice in order shown.

Simple and quick!

Shrimp Stirfry - Recipe

Shrimp Stirfry
1 serving - 260 calories for a lot!


1.5 cups fresh broccoli
2 tsp olive oil
1 tsp minced garlic
1 medium scallion, sliced
1 large mushroom, sliced or chopped
7 large shrimp
1 cup cabbage / bagged fresh cole slaw mix
1/4 cup water chestnuts
1/2 cup baby corn
1/4 cup mung bean sprouts
1 tsp teriyaki sauce

With shrimp you can pull a few precleaned, preshelled frozen shrimp out and toss them in a collendar and run water over them for about 3 minutes to thaw. Dry them with a paper towel and you are ready to go. Very easy!


Can stir fry the whole thing together but I prefer to do it in sections.

1. hot pan, stir fry 1 tsp olive oil with broccoli and mushrooms for about 3 minutes.

2. push broccoli and mushrooms to the side. Add other 1 tsp of oil, shrimp, garlic and scallions. Stir fry for about 2 minutes and turn shrimp.

3. add on top - cabbage, baby corn and water chestnuts. Let cook for another 2 minutes and then stir. Add in teriyaki and cook for another minute or two. Taste, salt or soy sauce if desired.

4. Plate and top with raw mung bean sprouts.
