WOW, that is awesome. I showed this to my husband and he said, "That's more that I eat." and he's right. It all looks so good. He only eats two meals and one snack a day. Not me! You are planning so well. I like the way you serve yourself too. very pretty and appetizing.

Yum!! You sound like a chef with your meal plans! I would love to be able to make yummy healthy things, unfortunately I am not the best cook! I definitely think its a great idea to plan meals out, and think I would be more successful if I did that too! Good Luck and Happy New Year!

new year... new habits

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

well my new years resolutions this year are

~ Stop nibbling on left overs on kids plates, snack foods in cabinet, dinner as I am making it, samples at Sam's club on Saturday when I'm shopping, and any other non meal food.

I am planning on making a point to plate everything I eat and sit down to eat it.

....

~ Plan out my meals

I am going to make a plan for a week - 2 weeks worth of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and then stick to that plan. I got a special calendar with a section for meal planning to help carry out this plan.

....

~ make exercise a habit again

I think this and the nibbling will be the hardest out of the three. I have gotten really slack a$$ in the past few months. I am planning on joining the YMCA in January though so that should give me a little extra motivation to start working out again. I want to incorporate more swimming into my workouts, I really love swimming and the Y has an indoor pool. Im excited about that.

yeah I have the nibbling thing from childhood too. Except I use to go around after my 4 other sisters and brother were done eating and eat all the leftover food.
I guess there was a reason I was the fat sister. lol.
I guess this is a bad habit I have had for a loooong time.

Great goals! I know that exercising daily is how I've lost all my weight. I do watch what I eat but I believe that exercise is so important to lose and maintain. I feel so much better after I workout! Good luck to you in 2011! emoticon emoticon

Yep the nibbling kills me also. I have definitely gotten better about it but the kids plate thing is a tough one for me. I think it came from as a kid when my parents made us clean the plate. I'll blame it on childhood... ha ha ha .

feeling festive ~ whats your most memorible christmas from childhood?

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

I was thinking about traditions I want to start with my own family and it got me to thinking about christmas when I was a kid.
I was just wondering what all of your most memorible christmas as a child was?

mine was when I was about 10 years old. I think this was the last year I actually beleived there was a santa clause.

Me, my parents and my 4 other brothers and sisters were living in low income public housing at the time and my parents had very little money for anything, let alone christmas presents. My parents went to a charity and they gave them one new gift to give each of us and that was all the christmas we were going to have.

That Christmas eve I can remember sitting up with my sisters and watching the skies above our house watching for santa and I think we saw a plane or something and got really excited because we thought the red light blinking was roudolph. lol.

That next morning we came down stairs and there was presents stacked up around the tree against the wall... I swear the stack for the 5 of us was up to the top of the tree. mountains of presents, I still have the image in my head, it was quite impressive.

It took us forever to open them all and everyone was so excited. And I can distinctly remember opening up a doll and my sister looking over at it and going "Hey I use to have a doll just like that!" :-)

lol, turns out that like so many other parents my parents rotated toys... when we would get new toys they would take the old ones and put them in a box and store them to rotate in again....

When they found out that they were only going to be able to give us one gift a piece they went and took all our old toys and wrapped them up for us... they also went to the thrift store and got alot of other used toys. we never knew any different until we were much older and my parents told us about it.

I cant remember any of the toys really but I remember it was so much fun opening them all and every single one of my siblings (except my brother who was a baby) remembers that Christmas.

................

Whats your most memorable childhood Christmas?

What a beautiful story! My favorite one is my mother baking cookies and we in the kitchen trying to help her but we were making a mess.

Wow. The pogo stick story is a little sad. I guess it taught you a lesson on present snooping. It's always so much funner when christmas is a surprise.

I can't say I havent been tempted to peak in my hubby's closet at my gifts though. Wish he would get them wrapped already. lol.

Thanks for sharing that memory with us. Sounds like you had a great Christmas after all. I remember the year I had asked for a pogo stick and was rumaging around in my parents closet where I wasn't supposed to be. Well, I found my pogo stick...I then realized there was no Santa.. and I had to fake surprise on Christmas morning. I didn;t tell Mom till years later!
