Breakfast - 1/2 cup grape nuts, 1/4 cup thawed frozen blueberries, tsp splenda, 1/2 cup 1% milk...... 1 serving moca latte mix (50cal) - 325

I got some grapenuts this week and you dont get alot per serving ... 1/2 cup for 200 calories... but they really fill you up and I love the crunch of them. Really enjoying them.


Lunch - pasta salad w/ whole wheat rotini, frozen peas, parmesan cheese, shredded carrot & light italian dressing..... yoplait light yogurt - 339


Snack - bagel thin w/ 1 tbls 1/3 less fat cream cheese - 145


Dinner- 1 homemade veggie burger w/ sliced american cheese on 80 cal wheat bun w/ lettuce, light mayo & 1/4 avocado......... potato wedges made by cutting a potato in wedges dipped in water, shaking them in a ziploc bag w/ 1 tbls flour. spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray and bake in the oven for 25 minutes...... green beans...... 1/2 large deli pickle - 565


Snack- tostidos baked scoops w/ 2 tbls salsa, 1/4 diced avocado & 2 tbls light sour cream - 324

Total Calories Eaten - 1698

    I really like grapenuts but they take a little getting use to, hubby dosent like them because they are not sweetened... they are really great for you though because they are pretty much all natural.... there is only 5 ingredients in them. I am really trying to buy food with small ingreident lists and stop eating all the highly processed chemical filled food thats really not good for you.

  Love this blog! Nice idea! I LOVE Grapenuts - they are really good when mixed in (1 TBSP or so) into yogurt. I've also been known to dip a banana into yogurt and then into Grapenuts. Thanks for reminding me of these things!

20 week summer challenge ~ week 1

~Goals for this week~

Drink more water - I did ok on this goal... I know I could have done better but a few days I prob dident get my full 8 glasses in emoticon

Go to bed early - Every night this week I was in bed between 10:30 & 11pm ~ emoticon

Get up early - I got up between 5:30 & 6am every day... except friday when I slept till 7am and dident get my workout in.... I made up for it though by getting up at 6am on saturday and working out emoticon

Workout 6 days - I have started to do my biggest loser workout videos again, I forgot how much they kick your butt ~ emoticon

Include more activity into my day to day life - I tried to incorporate more movement into my normal routine... Like for instance when I put the kids to bed for a nap I usually watch 40 minutes of shows on RoKu / Netflix instant play..... so instead of sitting and watching I walked in place for 40 minutes. Or when Im doing the dishes I will put on some music and dance a little while Im doing them. ~ emoticon

Eating ~ I did well with both tracking my food and staying at the low end of my calorie range this week. emoticon

So I did all this good stuff this week and still managed to gain a little over a pound.... grrr. I figure it has to do with my TOM though and maybe some extra water weight. I am hoping for a much better week next week and hopefully I will make up for what I dident lose this week and get myself back on track. Hubby did his first weigh in yesterday so at least he is not ahead of me at all, so I dont have to worry about that.

I am going to really work my butt off this week and have a good number next.

    Nice new workout threads, girl!! MEDIUM!!! Ever think you'd be able to say you own anything medium?? Great work girl! And super job at looking at and meeting most of those goals. The water will come for sure, since the weather is starting to get steamy! I love that hubby is doing weigh ins with you! Talk about teamwork!

20 Week Summer Challenge ~ Overview

Well I desided to give myself a little push in the right direction I am going to challenge myself to bump up my workouts and really crack down on my eating to try and lose 30 pounds in 20 weeks. Thats roughly 1.5 pounds per week I will need to lose to meet my goal, which I think is reasonable. If I can lose 30 more pounds I will be right around my goal weight and that will mean I will be at a healthy weight for the first time ever in my life! Very exciting. :-)

I have some how got my husband to aggree to do this with me... wow. He has been eating better with me since I started this lifestyle change of mine back in Jan 2009 but has never really jumped on board with exercise or anything. He lost 80 pounds the first year just because he was eating better with me but his weight loss has since stalled and he has lost and regained the same 5 - 10 pounds for the first part of this year.

So this is what we are doing.... we both set goals for ourselves that we hope to reach on or before October 29th..... 20 weeks from last week. We have both also set rewards that we would like.... and who ever meets thier goal first gets the reward that they chose. His reward and my reward is something that the other person can use as well but of course we are going to want the reward that we chose.

To buy our rewards we are going to start putting a little bit of money in our savings account every week. That way by the time we meet our goals it wont be such a strain to purchase whatever reward we get, which means we will be more likely to actually get it instead of putting if off cause we dont have the money.

I think it will be lots of fun and give us both some extra motivation to meet our goals.

Lose at least 1.5 pounds a week
Lose a total of 30 pounds
Go from 180lbs 150lbs
Go from a loose size 16 Jeans to a comfortable size 12
Get into a routine of waking up early and going to bed early
Drink more water
Incorporate more activity into my day to day life and still get my regular workout in as well

My Reward if I reach my goal first

Trip to Carowinds (local theme park) : Saturday October 30th 2010
New Outfits for both of us

    That's so funny. I just did my long range goals to October 30th-when my daughter gets married. It's really just a date to work towards. But I was not as nearly ambitious as you are. I aimed for 20 lbs only because I am the slowest weight loser on the planet. I'm not how much more I could bump up activity, but I could give it a whirl. I feel like I have the eating mastered.

Those size 12 jeans seems like a good goal. Go for it! emoticon

Food Blog Friday - Catching up

Breakfast before workout - 1/2 cup honey sunshine kashi (dont like this cereal but I bought it so I gotta eat it)..... 1/2 cup 1% milk


Breakfast after workout - egg white omelet w/ homemade pico & 2% cheddar cheese... toast w/ zero cal butter spray & jam


Lunch - 1/2 can lentil soup.... 1 light yoplait blueberry yogurt..... 1/2 apple


Snack - rice cake with blueberry cream cheese


Dinner - around 12 peices sushi made w/ imatation crab, cucumber & 1/3 less fat cream cheese....... 1/2 cup wheat pasta w/ asian steam veggies, 2 tbls kraft lite sesame ginger dressing ......... 1 pack duck sauce


snack - 1/2 cup frozen yogurt


I think it was around 1600 calories this day but Im too lazy to check lol... tastey sushi though.

    As far as I know sushi does not have too many calories, I just put in a california roll - 12 peices on my spark tracker and it was only a couple hundred calories.

I have been making my own sushi for a few years now. Its not very hard to learn and only takes a little practice. All you need to make a california roll is sushi rice, rice vinegar, sugar, seaweed (nori) sheets, cream cheese, avocado & imitation crab meat.... then you need a sushi mat too but they arent very expensive.

When making your own sushi I think the keyis to make the rice right or you wont get the same flavor as when you get it at a resturant..... what I do is take 1.5 cups dry rice and rinse it under cold water a few times untill the water goes from Thick white color to a more clear white color. This washes some of the starch off the rice so it wont be too pastey.... drain rice and add in 2 cups water.... bring that to a boil, cover and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. (no lifting the lid because the steam cooks the rice and it will get all hard and chewy if you do)

Put in a glass mixing bowl & add in 1/4 cup rice vinegar mixed with 1-2 tbls sugar. Mix up and let cool a little bit and your good to go.

Food Blog - Thursday - Catching up after a few days of not posting

Breakfast - PB&J on double fiber bread / 1/2 cup 1% milk .... 1/2 cup V8



Lunch - Pasta salad w/ whole wheat rotini, light itailan dressing, parm cheese, frozen peas, fresh basil & shredded carrot...... Kashi cereal bar


Dinner - chicken & broccoli crepe w/ salad (for crepes I just took hungry jack light and fluffy pancake mix and made it a little thin, added milk instead of water and an egg.... I refridgerated that for an hour and then made thin pancakes. The filling is just 1/2 a rotisary chicken breast chopped up with some cooked frozen broccoli, brown rice, jarred alfredo sauce, rosemary and garlic..... You just fill each crepe with the mixture and then bake in the oven untill everything is hot. very good!... and you can basically make up the filling from just about anything)


Snack - mini honey bun & 1/2 cup 1% milk
