swimsuit before & after ..... shopping

I went out this weekend and desided to try a few things on... the only thing I bought was the workout shorts I bought but I took a few pictures and even though I am not where I want to be yet I have come a very long way.

I tried on some swim suits and thought I looked really good besides my thighs... they still need alot of work. Other than that I would have definatly went out in public with what I tried on if my thighs looked better.

Just as a reference here is what I looked like in 2008 at around 250 - 260 pounds

And here is me now :-) 189 pounds

I cant wait to be at goal and share my final pics :-)

Here are some other pics I took while shopping... Im feeling pretty great about myself right now.

I bought this shirt because it was only 4 dollars on sale... Its a medium so its way to tight to wear out yet but I will hang it in my closet and be able to wear it in a few months.

I love these shorts I had to buy them... they dont ride up at all while running. yaay!

    You look great! I love that swim suit. Its really cute. You're too funny because that's exactly what I did these past couple of weekends as I'm trying to update my wardrobe with more fitted clothes. I'd try on an outfit or bathing suit, snap a pic and send it out to everyone & their mother. Its times like this that I miss living so far from my sisters.

Keep up the good work...you're doing a fabulous job.

A better day - Photo Food Journal - Sunday

Ok today I woke up and ate breakfast an did some stuff around the house and then I got outside and did my walking/jogging workout for 30 minutes. wow It was really hot out btw.
Then I went grocery shopping to get lots of healthy food for this week :-) and then I had to leave to go pick up my son. If you read my blog a few days ago I had to drive to drop my son off at my X husband for the weekend and today I had to go pick him up. Today was an even longer car trip though because my x husband was having car problems and could not bring my son to the "half way" point we normaly drop off and pick him up (I actually live about an hour and half farther away from the drop off location). grrr... so my 7 hour round trip drive turned into something like 10 hours.... Not too fun but I had a much better day with my eating :-) I made sure that I planned out what I was going to do to prevent overeating and bad snacking. I packed things from home to eat and read nutritonal info on things I dident bring from home. Although I did my fair share of snacking, most of it was well thought out and better choices.

Breakfast - 1 fried overeasy egg, 1 slice toast with zero cal butter spray and strawberry preserves, 2 slices turkey bacon - 242 cal

Lunch: Peanut butter & strawberry preserves sandwich thin.... 1/2 cup 1% milk - 305 cal

Snack: sugar free fudge pop - 50 cal

Snack: large apple, cored - 125 cal

Snack: 1/2 bag cheddar sun chips- 140 cal
(ok something interesting is baked lays have about the same calories as this for a whole bag but the oz of food in the bag on the lays is around half as much the sunchips... that means that they are around the same calories.... I looked at some kettle cooked chips and it was the same deal... very similar calories per oz. something to think about next time you pick your snack food out)

Dinner: wendy's ceasar side salad with light ranch, flatout wrap with turkey, lettuce, broccoli cole slaw and kens ranch dressing, small bag baby carrots. - 512 cal

Snack: Mcdonalds Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone - 150 calories

Total Calories for the day: 1524 ... yay low to midrange

weekend - bad bad bad

well I ate horribly today. well for dinner at least. we ended up not going grocery shopping today... (we normaly go on saturday)... so I dident have anything to cook for dinner and I broke down and we went out to eat again.

I was too guilty even to take pictures. ::hangs head::

I ended up going to a mexican restaurant and we had chips and salsa and guacamole.... we had fajitas with sour cream and beans and whatever eles came with it and then because I had never tried it before I got fried ice cream. OMG. I did really bad.

Me and hubby split everything but by the time it was all said and done the calories Im sure were horrindus... (I know I spelt that wrong prob lol)

Anywhoo... I know I said I would to better today but I did worse.... Im going to get up tomorow and work out though and plan out my day so it goes much better. Im not planning on doing any snacking tonight either... mainly because it feels like there is a cement block in my stomach. blaaaah!

I dont normaly eat at places like that though so that wont happen again for a while.


On a sweeter note I got some new workout shorts today... the kind that stay down and dont ride up when your running. :-) Happy me.


Well Im going to go and lay on the couch and fall into a food comma.... My thought for the day is you cant be totaly perfect all the time and sometimes you just need to splurge. Its not the end of the world and you cant beat yourself up over it.... Just need to pick myself up and do things better now. This comming up week I will be awesome and even though I had a bad weekend I will still do good.

    Just think of this in the far distant past would you have even thought..man that was a mistake?????

I think there are some foods we should just never taste because once we're awar of their glorious existence we want them again and fried ice cream is one of those LOL

Congrats on the shorts....they're also not riding up b/c of your great success

So plan better next week and don't look back

    At least you've got a good attitude going forward. You know what you did, you accept it, and you're moving forward. And look at the positive: you and your husband split all that stuff, where in the past, you probably would have the whole thing(s) to yourself, right? So even in "failure," you did something very right and you can still be proud of yourself!

    I do the same thing sometimes...last night I went to Applebees and did really well, looked ahead online and chose something with 390 calories...then the baby woke up at midnight and I ate a twix and then a brownie....we can do this!

Road Trip Edition : Photo food Journal - Friday 4-30-10

EDIT: well this morning 5-1-10 I put in my food on my tracker and even though I kinda geussed at some things I think I came up with a pretty acurate depiction of my calories for yesterday. After I got everything in it came up to: 2323 calories... thats about 570 calories over my calorie range.... so its a high day but not tooooo terribly bad. I will do much better today.


well every other weekend I have to take my son to see my X husband and he lives on the other side of the state from me. We meet half way and thats a 7 hour round trip drive for me.... so every other friday I spend half the day in the car. Not very happy for me and not happy for eating healthy but I try.

So I dident track my calories today and even though I could talley them all up now, Im exausted after getting up at 4:30am with my one year old and then we had to take my daughter an hour away to south carolina to my mother in laws house because she dosent do well on the 7 hour drive.... So we left from our house at around 11:30am and then I spent the majority of the rest of the day in the car.

But I kept track of my food with pictures all day and tryed to make smart choices.... Or at least not horrible choices.

But anyway here is my day of eating.

Breakfast: 1 cup caramel delight cereal & 1/2 cup 1% milk

Snack as Im running out the door at 11:00: Strawberry smoothy with a scoop of protien powder .... this is around 260 calories

Lunch: Mcdonalds Classic grilled chicken with no mayo.... I asked for no mayo at least and they gave me mayo anyway so I had to take the top bun and scrape all the crap off of it and core out the bun where all the mayo had soaked in... I got it all off though.

I asked for no mayo and here is what I got.... I geuss they thought I said extra mayo because there was about a 1/4 cup of the stuff on it.

Snack: granola bar.... I wasent too hungry but I was sleepy... horrible reason to eat but I did it anyway. sigh

Snack: two hours later we stopped at walmart and I ended up getting some more snacks there.... I had a bottled water, 1/2 a carton of strawberries, 1/2 a banana & 1 mini snickers & 2 pringles over the next few hours.

We desided to wait to get home before we ate dinner because I wanted to sit down somewhere and eat so once we got home around 9:00 we went to ruby tuesday.

I had a salad with light ranch & crutons (bad but I love them) & a small amount of broccoli salad (really bad but I love it too)

We ordered an avocado turkey burger with no mayo..... well geuss what I got.... a turkey burger loaded with mayo

So I snapped that picture (forgot to turn the flash off) and the waiter saw and came over and asked if everything was ok... he was looking at me all suspisious for the rest of the night. I told him about the mayo and sent the burger back to the kitchen and got a new one in about 20 minutes.

When we were almost done with the meal I geuss the waiter couldent stand it anymore and when he was filling up our water glasses he asked if I took a picture of my burger. I told him that I had a food blog on the internet.... his face looked really worried and my husband clarified for me that I keep track of the food I eat for weight loss. Im sure the guy thought I was writing nasty food reveiws online and was going to write up ruby tuesdays or something. IDK. He kinda gave us worse service after sending the burger back... maybe because of the picture I took... IDK... we gave him a 20% tip anyway though. Im sure it wasent his fault about there being mayo on the burger and I wasent so upset about it anyway.

I just wanted a burger with no mayo... not too much to ask for.

Anyway, now I am stuffed an looking back on all the pictures I took today I feel like a freakin pig. I did make better choices that maybe I normaly would have and when you think about it... the munching I did is prob no different than I normaly would have done... Its just all out in the open now and I cant hide behind a bad memory. I know exactly how much I ate and it was prob alot more than my calorie range allowed for the day.... but one day is not going to kill me and I will make up for it in the next week. I normaly have a high calorie day on friday or saturday anyway.

Now Im off for some much needed R&R. Its been a long day.

    I think you did fine. Looking at your food for the day isn't bad at all. you made great choices and I like how you had just the right amount of fries. You could of said the heck with it but you made choices. choices for you. I need to start making better choices for me.

    yeah it was kinda like a horror story... Lol, I wasent going to take pictures of all the mayo but then I was like... what the hell, might as well show everyone what I got right off hand... I find that when I eat out it ends up like this most of the time. I would have sent the sandwich back at mcdonalds but they had us pull up and wait a few minutes for our food and I went inside to grab a pack of sweet and sour sauce and my husband dident check the food in the drive thru when they brought it out to us. So I get done getting the kids food ready and buy the time I find out my sandwich is loaded with mayo we are all the way down the highway. So I had to not eat or deal with it and core out the bun. worked well because I prob got rid of the butter that was on the bun as well.. I know they butter there buns.

Its really hard to get what you ask for, thats why eating out is so scary.

Looking back on my food this morning I felt like I did really well... Last night I was tired and thought that with all the snacks my day looked just full of munching... most of the snacks were very good choices though so I need to recognize that.

Just popping in to say I am crossing my fingers for you to have a good weekend foodwise and to congratulate on your recent weight loss!:-)
I must say though the repeating story with extra mayo when you specifically said 'NO MAYO' read like a horror story to me! How BAD is the service in those places? Or how negligent the cooks? I honestly thought that especially in this economy blah blah they would care and listen to the customer!
Personally I do best with food choices if I plan ahead, ESPECIALLY when I am away from home, if I can suggest anything. I actually thought you did very well and envied you - cause if I have to eat at restautants, it usually ends BADLY, nothing like the moderate food intake you photoblogged.

    Hi Had a travel day today too. DH and I came back from a trip in the mountains where we were surprised by a week of snow storms this last week of April. Before jumping into the car I had a handful of almonds and the last V8 I had brought along with me on our trip. We stopped for lunch and I had an In-N-Out protein style double-double. I looked it up when I got home and it was a whopping 440 calories without the bun! The carbs are low, only 11, and that is what I am primarily trying to watch, so it was okay I guess. We also stopped at Starbucks a little later and I had a latte. No snacking in between stops. When we got home I had a low(er) carb Pure Protein chocolate peanut butter bar to tide me over until dinner. It was nice to sit down to a small steak and salad with our kids and enjoy being together with them again. All in all I pretty much stuck to my diet this week and I look forward to using my sparkpeople nutrition tracker more closely now that I am home. It is definitely more of a challenge to eat while you are on the road. I like the idea of your photo journal and hope to try it sometime soon!

Update & Photo Food Journal Thursday April 29th 2010

Ok I dont have time today to put all my food from yesterday into my food tracker so Im not sure on the calories of everything... Im pretty positive that I dident go over though. I have to take my son to see his father on the other side of NC today and its a long drive (about 7 hours round trip) so I have to get going. I wanted to get all my food down on my blog at least. I think I did good yesterday.

The Way Im tracking my food seems to be paying off... I lost another 2 pounds this week!!! yaaaay. I am now in the 180's OMG... thats really exciting. You know once I get in the 170's I wont be able to remember the when I was that weight. I dident weigh myself when I was in elementary school. I really feel my body starting to catch up to the weight loss... my skin seems to be firming up because under my arms and my belly arent as loose as they once were. This makes me so happy because I was under the impression that I would have alot of loose skin... not too long ago it was very loose in those two places. Now the only places where there is any noticable looseness is my inner thighs and my breasts :-( .... the girls arent in a happy place and I dont think they are going to bounce back. I geuss thats why they make good bras though, Im not planning to be a nude modle once Im thin so it shouldent matter much.

Im happy and excited... I can see myself being close to my goal by the end of the year If I can keep this pace up. I was worried that I wasent going to get there because I was having a very hard time before dropping the weight.


Food journal

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 slice toast with zero cal butter spray and strawberry preserves, 2 slices turkey bacon

Lunch: turkey, roasted red peppers, & cheddar sandwich thin pannini.... progresso lentil soup

snack: Joy waffle cone & two scoops cookies and cream ice cream

Dinner: chicken fajitas, 1 tortilla, light sour cream, salsa, 1/4 avocado, lettuce, tomato, 1 tbls ranch, 1/2 cup uncle bens santa fe ready rice

baked tositos scoops with 1/4 cup cheese sauce, light sour cream, salsa

mini bell pepper halves with 2 tbls light cream cheese sprinkled with dill weed


I really wanted two fajitas but stuck to one.... that was hard, they were really good.
