Does this make me look fat?

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Im wanting to enter in the spark people after photo contest. Im having a hard time picking out a before picture to use... I really never bothered getting a "good" before picture... I dident really think I would have anything to compare it to when I started and I dont think I can use the one in my sports bra because the rules say no "sugestive" photos. Not that I think 270 pound me in a sports bra is "sugestive" eww. Anyway, I picked a few that I might use... just wondering if anyone eles has a veiw on which one would be the best before picture to use. I plan on cropping the pictures with other people in them.

Thanks for your oppion. ~ Jess

Picture 1

In better quality because I would scan it instead of using this which is a photo of a photo

Dont forget they want a clear picture with uncluttered background. I think that picture number 1 shows the most change, but as far as these guidlines it might be too blurry. Unless you scan the picture and get it on your hard drive. The one with mickey is good but you could have copyright hang ups, but you could try to cut out mickey. This leaves number 4. I think that is a keeper for sure!
It will be interesting to see who they pick!
God bless ya :)

Boot Camp - week 2 : Day 4

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

wow... boot camp was hard after all. I got thru it though. I can imagine that my arms and back are both going to be sore tomorow because right now my back is kinda a dull burning sensation (upper back muscles) and my arms feel like jello. It is actually tiring sitting here just typing on my keyboard. So the results are in and the biggest loser boot camp has officialy kicked my a$$.

Ok... I did it again, yay. I got up at 5:30 this morning and got my workout in. I am hoping that today is better than yesterday was... I got up yesterday and worked out and by 10am I was dragging...... Oh I wanted a nap soooo bad, I was sooo tired. I never got one either. :-(
I took some excedrin for a head ache around 3:00 though and felt almost instantly better.... I think it must have been the small amount of caffine that excedrin has in it.

I went to my OBGYN yesterday for my yearly exam and the only thing she could talk about the whole time was how much weight I had lost. .... that made me feel really great. Last time I went to the regular doctor they dident even mention it. I geuss it shouldent be a big deal to me that someone notice that I have lost almost 80 pounds... but it is. This is like the biggest thing I have ever done. I have to say besides giving birth to my kids... which just kinda happens (although I did do it naturaly with my son).... this is my greatest accomplishment ever (as sad as that is). I told my doctor about spark people though and she said she was going to check it out... she sounded really excited lol. I love spreading the spark.

After my appointment I gave in to it being late and me being lazy and not wanting to cook and we went to the chinese buffet for dinner. I did really really bad the last time I went there, about 3 weeks ago. Last night I did the best I had ever done. I got hibatchi vegetables with a few shrimp... the guy tried to put a ladle butter on my food again (400 calories), just like last time and I was very clear "NO butter!!!" It felt good to speak up for myself. I got 5 peices of sushi... 1/4 cup wonton soup with one wonton... and 2 fried cheese wontons. .......... and that was it. I could have eaten more but I dident. I rocked!

When I got home and added all my calories together I ended up being in the middle of my calorie range... not at the top and not over! yay.

well Im off to do 50 crunches for my marymack group challenge. I hope everyone has a rockstar day!!!

Weekly workout Scedual

Monday - Biggest Loser High Intensity Cardio
Tuesday - Biggest Loser Boot Camp & elliptical machine
Wednesday - Biggest Loser High Intensity Cardio
Thursday - Biggest Loser Boot Camp
Friday - Biggest Loser High Intenisty Cardio
Saturday - Off
Sunday - Off

It's 7:15 and I am done with my workout for the day. I got up with hubby today at 5:30!!! wow that's early. I made us both breakfast... Banana Berry smoothies and eggs with veggies and turkey sausage. yum.

When hubby left for work I put on my biggest loser workout dvd and got moving. This week I am on 2 different workouts... high intensity cardio and boot camp. I do boot camp tomorow, and it sounds scary... I hope its not too hard. High intensity cardio was a bit more difficult for me than the low intensity workout but I got through it ok and worked up a really good sweat.

The sun will be rising soon and I already feel really acomplished for the day. I plan on getting up early every day this week and getting my workout out of the way. I will become a morning person if it kills me. lol.

Here is to a great beggining of the day and an even better beggining of the week!

Week 2 - Day 2 ....... Sunday out

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I went out with my family this morning. I went to take back some flax seed that I bought at vitamin world.... I got it a few days ago and then while in walmart yesterday I discovered that they carry a bag of flax seed 3 times as big as the one I bought at vitamin world for $3.50.... I paid over $7 for what I had already bought. OMG!!! Luckly I had not opened it yet so I took that back today and got my money back. Im going to start putting flax seed in smoothies and in other stuff so I can get some more Omega 3s in my diet.

We went to Ikea to get a high chair for lyra because her current high chair is about ready for the trash. We found a pretty decent one for only $19.99.... I love Ikea prices.... they have such cool stuff and its all so cheap. We stopped in thier caffateria after we were done shopping for lunch. Me and hubby split a meatball plate and I got some steamed veggies too. The kids shared some macaroni and cheese. I figured half of the meat balls would still be slightly bad but I would just eat light at dinner. I come to find out that 6 meat balls is only like 200 calories! wow, that was a real shocker for me. In fact when I looked up the nutritonal info a little while ago I found that most of the food they serve there is really not that bad. Spliting the lunch with hubby I dident eat anymore than I normal eat for lunch.... go me!

I did not get my exercise in yesterday. I procrastinated all day long and by the end of the day It just was not happening. I figure though that I got in alot of extra activity durring the week, so missing yesterday is not going to kill me.

I have been thinking that I might try the south beach diet for a while. It might be nice to change up how Im eating a little bit, plus even though the first 2 weeks are pretty low carb, phase 2 seems like a really healthy way to eat... not too much different from how Im eating now but maybe the structure will keep me on track. It never hurts to try something and if I dont like it, I know that I am in a place where I am not going to revert back to my old ways. I still dont know, I need to do a little more research and get rid of (eat) the 2 cartons of fat free icecream I bought this past week lol.

If you want to do something different, you ought to consider checking into an anti-yeast diet. When I strictly followed it, I dropped over 30 lbs in a matter of weeks without trying. There's something about yeast that hinders weight loss. The premise is pretty simple. Anything that supports yeast growth is eliminated from your diet. That means sugars, cheese, yeast breads, liquor/beer, leftovers, etc. I never felt so good as when I was on that diet. It is somewhat restrictive as wheat is also something that discouraged...I wasn't fond of some of the other types of grains for bread. Me, I'm a white bread eater. I like cracked wheat bread, but I hate whole wheat because it makes stuff taste sweet. Who wants a sweet meat sandwich? Not me! LOL!

I need to start focusing on consuming the lower end of my calorie range vs. thinking I am ok with the upper end. Otherwise my progress is going to grind to a halt and I don't want that. I've got to get a handle on my fat intake as well. That and my sodium. This past week I've been all over the place with both of them. We've been out to eat a lot tho. This weekend was a salt fest of sorts. Not intentionally, mind you, but there it is. We had a lot of tomato dishes. Next time we go to the store we will get low sodium tomatoes and broth.

I haven't yet tried any smoothies. I'm just not into that kind of thing, unless it's a blizzard from DQ!! LOL!! Somehow I don't think that's the kind of smoothie you're talking about! LOL!!

I totally understand about the exercise. It's a good thing for me I'm using the tracker, cuz if I had my way, I would have skipped yesterday. But, since it was there in black and white, I made myself do my workout/exercises so I could honestly say I met my goals! That's a good thing! I sweat so much it looked like I had just washed my hair. That's a good thing, too. Just goes to show you how much fluid I was retaining!

Hope you have a great week and that you get rid of that ice cream in your freezer. Me, I made peanut butter cookies tonight, plugged the recipe into the calculator and haven't had any more because I found out they were 110 calories a piece! Will have to let my nephew take care of them....it's one of my favorite recipes...next time I guess I will make them smaller so I can have a couple and not feel like I'm breaking my diet! TTYL!

I've never tried the south beach diet, but I think you're looking at it in a healthy way. It's a way to frame your healthy eating, for a little while at least. I've never really thought of using diets in that way. Best of luck!
PS I am so jealous of your ikea visit. I've never been. I just drool over the website.

the meatballs @ ikea if it is like it used to be they sell those meatballs there at the store. they have them for swedish meatballs but i used them in tomato sauce when i had them. even the frozen meatballs they sell at regular supermarkets are low calorie for 3 meatballs. i usually make my own meatballs when i get a big thing of ground beef and make my meatloaf with it.

Weigh in & Measurments!!! ~ Day 7

Friday, March 12, 2010

Well I dont work out today... ahhh thats a good feeling. I am quite proud of myself for this week though... I exercised my a$$ off this week and dident skimp on anything that I planned for myself, in fact I went above and beyond by doing an hour more exercise then I planned for.

Today is my weigh in day and I was hoping for big numbers with all the work I have been doing. In the end I pulled a 1.3 pound loss. hmm, well its not 3 pounds but I will take it and I have to realize that I have been doing that biggest loser workout video all week and in one video there is alot of weight training and in the other, even though its cardio there is alot of squats and lunges which works your leg muscles.... So I am assuming that I have prob gained a little bit of muscle this week.... I have to account for that.

1.3 is great though. I currently weigh 195.1 .... thats the lowest I have been so far... every number below 220 is the lowest I have been since I was in high school. I remember the last time I was 195, I was in 11th grade and I weighed myself and then looked at myself in the mirror and I said "Im not that bad.... Im kinda cute".... I was finally kinda likeing my body for the first time ever.... then I met my first serious boyfriend who treated me like crap and ballooned up to 300 pound in a year. grrr! Oh well, I cant blame this on anyone eles and I cant change the past. I just have to change who I am now. .... I only wish my body looked now like it did then when I was 195... totaly not the same body, lol. Oh well... hopefully all the crunches will help that.

You know I have noticed that my skin is firming up some since starting to do more exercises with weights. My arms in particular are less loose, which gives me so much hope... they were at the point where when I put down my arm in a tank top, the skin wrinkled up at the bottom :-P blah. Its dosent really do that now... Hell yeah! Happy me.

Ok I took some measurments today and compared with last month the numbers are looking really really good. It just goes to show you that you cant use the scale as your only measure of success.

Weight last week: 196.4
Weight today: 195.1

Measurments 2/4/2010 VS. 3/12/2010

Neck: 13.75 Neck: 13.70

Bicep: 13.25 Bicep: 13

Forearm: 10.5 Forearm: 10.25

Chest: 41.5 Chest: 40.25

Waist: 39.75 Waist: 39.5

Hips: 47.5 Hips: 46

Thigh: 25.75 Thigh: 24.25

Calf: 16.75 Calf: 16.5

Not bad at all.... I was really shocked at the difference in my Thighs... must be all the squats and lunges. lol.

Well I hoping to stay strong with the exercise this comming up week and have another excelent week like this one. Maybe without all the eating out though .... I prob would have pulled a bigger number if I had not gone out to eat twice last week.

I hope everyone eles has a great weigh in day this week and really rocks it this comming week. Have a great weekend.

I noticed that the weeks after I have really intense workouts like running or weight lifting that I always weight the same or slightyl over during my weigh in. However the next week I end up with a bigger number. I think your body holds onto more water while it repairs itself.
