Stick to it

Thursday, January 02, 2014

Stick to it - I haven't been very good at that for the last year. Among other excuses I could give, the biggest and most important is that my new, wonderful job has provided me with a generous amount of extra donuts, sandwiches, and cookies that would otherwise be thrown out. Not to mention, it has taken up a bunch of my otherwise free time, and stressed me out, and ruined my attempt to stick to my previous routine. Now that Casey has a new job, routine is even harder to obtain.

Stick to it - I plan to. I will do my very best to develop a routine that supports and nurtures the healthy lifestyle I crave. Yes, I am back at it....again, and I will

Stick to it.

A run in the rain

Sunday, September 01, 2013

We ran in the rain last night. Felt great! I was soaked by the time I was done, but I proved to myself that I could finish that C25K workout. I don't want to get to week 7 again, and get "too busy."

AND, I did some strength training, but not much. I'll try to do better with that today. I have to remember that my nutrition is the KEY factor in all of this.

I will be tracking today for sure.

The Witch!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

The body is a strange thing.

Over the past week, I've done a lot of great things for my health. I've done well with tracking my food, eating veggies, drinking water. I've worked out.

Yet, my body didn't get the notice that it was supposed to reduce the number of pounds on the scale.

Now, I've been down this road before, so I know that if I keep doing what I'm doing, it WILL come off, but that is NOT what I wanted to see on my scale this morning.

How on earth does a person gain multiple pounds by doing the right things? Well, it could have to do with the amount of sodium I've had or that my body is trying to hold on to all of its calories thinking I won't feed it everything it sees anymore. But, mostly it is probably due to Aunt Flo, the witch! She'll be gone soon enough and so will those pounds

You just reminded me of my kitchen sink. (not sure why but...)

My kitchen sink leaks every night. And when I wake up I often find myself saying I can't believe that water leaked all night and the sink didn't overflow. The answer to this mystery, I checked on it too soon. If I wait a little longer oh ya that sink will be leaking all over the floor.

That is my advice to you I guess. Don't be too quick to check the kitchen sink. Just keep letting those good habits drip and soon enough the pounds will be dripping off of you.

emoticon Try not to focus too much on your scale. You are doing all the correct things. The scale sometimes has a mind of its own. Try to look for non scale victories instead!

I can totally relate to the scale issue, but I LOVE your attitude toward it! I always tell myself that if I'm making good choices -- eating right, exercising -- that my body will catch on eventually and the pounds will drop. It's just about not getting too frustrated in the moment and keeping on track! You've got this =)

Just went for an hour long walk/jog with Casey. It was good, but my hands are all swollen and puffy? I've noticed I get this a lot when I work out. Not sure why.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Y'know, I used to get this on long hikes. I'm not sure why, but I was in excellent health at the time.. You could ask your doctor.

Yep, I get puffy fingers during walking, but they go away pretty quickly when I'm done :)

There's definitely some "normalcy" to getting puffy hands/fingers when walking. I went for a long walk this morning and about an hour in noticed that my fingers looked like sausages and that my rings were a bit tight. Gross.

There are several things that could cause it, but most aren't terribly worrisome =)

Big success day

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Okay, I am totally within all my ranges on food today with some to spare! Now if I can keep up with that, I'll be okay!

I was more active today than I have been recently. I served as a tour guide for some college students this afternoon. That kept me moving. I DID sneak a little piece of a donut, but considering they were given pizza, sliders, brownies, and tons of cookies as well, I think I did quite well!

I am about to catch up on my water intake today, and eat dinner.

Feeling good, people. Feeling like I can do this again. It's just slow getting my mind to focus on it...
