I don't seem to be going anywhereSunday, February 10, 2008I have been the same weight since Christmas time & I'm at a standstill but I still haven't given up. It would be so easy to give up but I think about how far I've come. I don't want to feel horrible like I did before I lost any weight at all. ![]()

Peggy, Don't be discouraged... the long-term progress is measured in more than hitting a "number" on the scales! In foct, the You on a Diet doctors would suggest getting rid of the scales, but they realize people want to see the numbers. We depend on those numbers way too much, I agree, and while I still want to see the "loss" registered on the scales, I have to admit that keeping on keeping on--by making permanent life-style changes makes for REAL success. It's really hard to lose when the weather is so cold and dreary. It's like our bodies want to retain their padding for warm. Try to stay positive and concentrate on one thing at a time, such as getting number of glasses of water drank or eating 2 fruits and 2 vegetables a day. I haven't made much progress weight wise either...but I'm trying to concentrate on healthier habits like water, fruits and vegetables, and less salt and caffeine. Hang in there! What new habits have you replaced with your old eating habits? This can also be a measurable change....the way you approach food. I am sure your body will respond in time ! :)

I have been a little discouraged since the holidays because I can't seem to get back into things. I have never thought about giving up, though. I was talking to a 14 year old girl at church about the way I am feeling. She said to me, "If you believe you can---you can!" She was so serious when she told me & it took a 14 year old to change how I was feeling. I have been trying too hard she told me so I have to learn to relax & take it one day at a time.

Isn't it wonderful how a child can sometimes lead the way? She's right. You can!
