Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis

This is my beautiful little niece - Shay Poppy.

I'm participating in the 2014 Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis in honor of my niece, Miss Shay Poppy, on Sunday May 24th.

This is a great way for me to support the cure for Cystic Fibrosis as well as get some great exercise in! Fitbit steps!

Get me moving - even on a day when I least expect it.

The time change on Sunday kicked my butt on Monday. I was exhausted and went to bed early last night. The bad news is that I woke up at 11:30 and couldn't go back to sleep for a few hours. Needless to say I was dragging my butt today once again.

Normally I have about 5000 steps in by 9:00 each day - when I was getting ready to leave the office today I had a grand total of 1800 steps. UGH!

As I stepped outside the above zero temperature and sunshine made me smile. As I walked to my car I could feel my mood lifting. As I drove home I rolled down the windows and opened the sunroof. As I pulled into my driveway I had already decided that I was going to go for a walk and try to get my 6000 pledged steps in for the day.

I ended up walking for 1.5 hours - all a round town people were out and about enjoying the beautiful day. I just got home and checked out my Fitbit saying to myself, "I have to be over 6000 now." YEPPERS!! I am not at 12846! WOO HOO. I will easily make this a 13K+ step day.

Now if you had ever told me that this morning I would have said you were crazy!

Thank you Mother Nature - sometimes you're not a bad chick!

    That's Great Lori. I am more pumped that there is more light in the evenings. It does lift the spirits. Mother nature is still on my poop list. Nice days then cold nice days then cold. Such a tease. Get out there and enjoy.

Fitbit Friends and fun!

So I started to make a post on my team Tangerine Chat this morning and realized that my post was getting longer and longer - then it occurred to me that perhaps I should drop this in a blog rather than hog the CHAT forum.

So… Jen (a fellow Team Tangerine) and I have been neck and neck on the Fitbit friends list and we have been having fun with it. Of course my lead always seems to be temporary. Just when I catch up, I see this blur out of the corner of my eye – yep that is Jen blowing by me once again.

As I shortened the gap between us, Jen gives me a Friday challenge. She tells me to try to keep up with her and all her Disney steps.

Now picture this – Jen – enjoying her day in the sunshine and warm temperatures and all the fun of Disney. Lori – at work – at my desk – and the cold and snow outside, luckily the sun was shining which has a big affect on my spirit.

Well in order for me to even have a fighting chance I knew I had to take a lesson from Bren and SWEAT! With a lack of time in my day I had to make the best of every minute I had to give to my stepping!

In the end – Jen blew me outta the water! She logged 16800 steps yesterday. FANTASTIC!! Jen is the winner!

I had asked Jen if she was afraid of mice. I knew that if she was and had Mickey chasing her she could beat me in this challenge. I guess we all know now – Jen IS afraid of mice!

But I am going to give myself a pat on the back too. I finished up the day with 11466 steps. Pretty good for a girl working he way back up the Fitbit friends list!

I love my Fitbit and I love having fun with my FitBit friends. I do love to cheer everyone on – but nothing gets me going better than a taunt. Of course my taunting is all in good fun and it is my way of motivating myself and others. So if I taunt you or send you a jab or a challenge – please don’t think of it negatively – please know that it is all in good fun.

Feel free to challenge me. With spring in the air I am ready to make a difference - I am ready to get back on track with my healthy lifestyle.

    I love seeing all the Tangerines on the board and passing them by. I don't usually taunt just in case it hurts someone's feelings, but now that I know... I like the challenge of trying to catch up to people higher on the list.

So go Tangerines. Fitbit was one of my best investments!
