Not sure but...

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Well I can't say for sure I know exactly what it means but I just past the 10,000 points mark for my SparkPoints! I feel a bit of pride even though there's no monetary reward or group of people standing and applauding. I was curious about the points from the beginning but didn't pay that much attention just kept inputting my nutrition, fitness, reading articles, posting messages, etc.

I think it's something to aim for... a goal. If you don't set goals you won't reach them. I wanted to reach 10,000 and bingo I did it! Week one it seemed years away but now I've hit it and I'm moving on to the next goal.

Just like our weight or fitness goals. This site is full of so many tools and so much encouragement along the path, it makes it a more enjoyable and bearable journey AND there's a record of it all to look back on and for others to see and to use to help them on their way as well.

Not sure exactly what the points are for... but they mean a lot!

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Hey fellow spark mates! Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Just wanted to let you know I'll be gone for a few days on a little trip to Florida. Wish me healthy choices and happy days! (I'll do the same for you). Look forward to going full steam ahead when I return at my new goal! I've cut 45 lbs. and now I'm looking to add some muscle while still dropping body fat %. (and increasing water levels) I'm excited! Anyone else? Let's hit this Fall running! Love you guys!

square one...

Sunday, June 03, 2007

life can be like a game at times. things happen that you can't control. you roll your dice and sometimes you land on a spot that sends you back or sets you back even as far back as square one. you can choose to view it negatively like "oh no not again" or "i have to start over again?!". you can choose to look at it as a new beginning. another chance to start over. refresh. reboot. retry. i have something brand new available to me. i'm picking up the dice and i'm smiling as i roll a new turn... a new chance... from square one.

i'm attaching the lyrics to coldplay's square one (from x&y cd)
You're in control, is there anywhere you wanna go?
You're in control, is there anything you wanna know?
The future's for discovering
The space in which we're travelling
From the top of the first page
To the end of the last day
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

Under the surface trying to break through
Deciphering the codes in you
I need a compass, draw me a map
I'm on the top, I can't get back

Whoa whoa

The first line on the first page
To the end of the last page
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

You just want
Somebody listening to what you say
Oh, you just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

Is there anybody out there who
Is lost and hurt and lonely too
Are they bleeding all your colours into one?
and if you come undone
As if you've been run through
Some catapult it fired you
You wonder if your chance will ever come
Or if you're stuck in square one

yes, undone and run through...
yes, wondering from square one,
but full of hope and wonder

i'm still here
(whispered, but piercing through to you)
game on

I had hit the restart button so many times I have lost count! My first attempt at exercise was back in 1998! If I had stayed on that path I would have been ready for Mr. Olympia 2 times over. But I fell off the wagon many times but got back on each time. I am back on the wagon again for week 3! It is better to restart than give up for good!

own it

Friday, May 25, 2007

i want to do more than just survive the day. sure there are those days, but thriving is so much more... ALIVE.

i think being here on sparkpeople and working on our health/weight is part of turning that corner and taking control. the small daily successes we find here should encourage us to find that same success in all areas of our lives... work, relationships, family, thoughts. we are more than just physical beings that eat and sleep and propagate the species. we're more than instinct. we have thought and experience that go beyond our limited time here that we gain through learning from others and their experiences. there's power in knowledge and power in numbers. i want to learn to harness those gifts and THRIVE not just survive. I want to own my own choices and make my world mine.

It sounds like you owned it when you broke your personal mile record, baby. Keep up the good living, and make whatever changes you know you've got swimming around in your mind right now.

What would you do if you weren't afraid? [Stolen from "Who Moved My Cheese?"]

That's what I always ask myself when I'm hesitating instead of thriving and making the world my own.

End of the week or start of the weekend

Friday, May 11, 2007

Well I've committed to reading and posting more here on Sparkpeople. And I have to say it's been an eye opening and uplifting experience to this point. I'm glad I took the time to see who's out there with similar goals.

So many want to encourage as well as be encouraged. Sharing little bits of info here and there adds up to a large collective amount of helping goodies!

Great start for me here going beyond using the tools... or is it using the tools more completely!

You SparkPeople are great! Know it and believe it!

I am glad to see that you are making your commitment..

I think you are doing great.. little steps.. that is the key .. at least in my own life...

And if you slip, never feeling that it is a failure.. we can always do a do over the next day...
