Staying Accountable: New Week New Goals

Friday, March 23, 2012

Since I started my refocus process in the middle of the week, it's a new week. I did pretty well on my goals last week so I'm going to change it up with a few new ones to go with some of the old ones.

1. Stay within calorie range every day.
I did very well with this one last week so let's give it a try again.

2. Strength training 3x week.
Did well with this one too.

3. Take an exercise class at the gym this week.
I've taken 2 classes at the gym since joining about 5 years ago: Yoga and Tai Chi. I checked the schedule yesterday and see there's a kickboxing class on Wednesday. I already put a reminder in my calendar so I'm ready to go!

4. Bump up cardio to 45 minutes a day.
Some days I already do this so I want to see if I can be consistent with it.

That's it. Check back and see how I'm doing. emoticon

Fantastic! I made my goal of strength training three times too.
I had such a bad week, that I just don't know what my goals are this week. I lost my new job (through no fault of my own- just bad timing and budget cuts). I really liked it too. I feel so bla. But I will get back up and dust myself off and start looking again. Glad you reached your goals! You are an inspiration!

3/19 + 3/20: Okay I have gone a little off track the last couple of days. emoticon

1.) Plan out my foods for the rest of the week
The major meals are planned, just not all the snacks. This is still not done, which may be part of the issue. Will finish tonight!!!

2.) Stay within calorie range EVERY day
Went over calorie range last two days. Ugh! I still had a calorie differential both days but didn't make the best choices.

3. Do 30 minutes of cardio EVERY day
Did kickboxing for 40 minutes yesterday and walked for 15 minutes today.

4. Do Strength Training 3 days this week.
No strength training either day unless I count some of the punching as ST.

Score 70%

Today was the 7th day of my new refocus plan. Overall I am doing well but need to keep the focus. I am going to change the goals for next week.

Looks as if you did well here. How are you doing on your next goals? You are making attainable goals and for the most part you are meeting them and that is good. Keep up the good work and you will continue to see positive results.

Keeping a negative calorie differential in the midst of getting off track is great! It means you are still pointing in the right direction.

3/18: I can't believe that it's been 5 days and I'm still going strong emoticon

1.) Plan out my foods for the rest of the week
The major meals are planned, just not all the snacks.

2.) Stay within calorie range EVERY day
Managed to stay within range again! 1660 cals -459 differential. Even had an ice cream cone yesterday!

3. Do 30 minutes of cardio EVERY day
Walked 60 minutes with hubby.

4. Do Strength Training 3 days this week.
20 minutes of upper body ST

Today's Score 90% Haven't finished the meal plan yet.

Yesterday was a nice day in Massachusetts and at my house. My mother came over for lunch. I made a pot roast in the crockpot with mashed potatoes, and butternut squash. She ate well, which is always nice to see since she's pretty picky. After we cleaned up, we picked up my auntie and went to a local nursery to look at plants, then stopped for ice cream cone on the way home.
Spent the rest of the visit sitting in my backyard enjoying the day!

3. Do 30 minutes of cardio EVERY day
Did 39 minutes of Exerbeat last night. Lots of Boxercise and Martial Arts.

4. Do Strength Training 3 days this week.

Diane how do you get your deficit, is that just the calories you burned through exercise or do you deduct it from the calories you eat through the day???
Have a great Sunday and way to go!!!

3/16: Here's yesterday's report:

1.) Plan out my foods for the rest of the week
This was done on Day 1.

2.) Stay within calorie range EVERY day
Another great day. I seem to be hovering around 1500 every day. 1486 calories -580 differential.
Saturday may be a challenging day. We are going out shopping and then to lunch.

3. Do 30 minutes of cardio EVERY day
Did 20 minutes on the elliptical at the gym and then 45 minutes of WIO. DH and I have an informal challenge on steps so he joined me while for my time on the Wii. I wonder if he'll continue this. emoticon

4. Do Strength Training 3 days this week.
It was lower body day. My favorite... NOT! Did 2 sets of walking lunges w/ weights, squats w/ weights, leg presses, leg curls, and legs extensions - all at 40lbs.

Today's Score 100%

Stepped on the scale today (just to see) and I see some downward movement. I am happy with this and the momentum I have right now.

On another note, I went shopping because I had a 30% off coupon and bought two pairs of pants that don't fit right now. I can zip them but not button them. I believe if I lose 5lbs that they will fit so trying them on weekly and reporting on my progress may become part of my blogs. emoticon

Hubby asked me if I could return them. emoticon

Glad to hear that many of my friends are doing this with me. There is strength in numbers! emoticon

You are doing a great job with this! Good luck over the weekend... I know you can do it!

I also always have some article of clothing that almost but not quite fits and I try it on religiously each week as a way to gauge progress. It's so much fun when I can finally wear it!
