Week 1 Completed:10lb Xtreme Slimdown

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Yesterday I finished the first week of 10lb Xtreme Slimdown. I made it and I'm still walking! What I learned from this workout is that I am strong but still have some areas in which I could be stronger. emoticon

Strengths: Cardio-I have lots of stamina for the cardio kickboxing segment and cardio intervals.

Area Needing Improvement: Lower Body. I learned the hard way with the lower body workout. The second day I did the lower body workout (after doing the Total body workout the day before) and then topped it off with the "Bonus Buns" workout. The result: A few days of severe soreness! Simply put-I did too many reps. I should have probably done half to start. But I am learning.

Today I will start Week 2. I can't say that I have seen any results yet (although I haven't measured). My weight is about the same-give or take half a pound but I can feel results coming!

A good way to know if there is a difference is to take some pics right now. Then, when you finish week two, take the pics again in the same location, with the same outfit. You'll know.

Corn Maze

Saturday, October 08, 2011

Today was a good day. After grocery shopping with my mother, DH and I went to a corn maze in Haverhill, MA. It was fun to walk through it and try to find our way. They had questions on signposts. If you guessed right (not that you knew) you'd go the right way and if you guessed wrong, you'd have a longer route.

As the Boston Bruins are the Stanley Cup Champions this year the maze was designed around them. Here's a photo of it:

Later I did my Xtreme Yoga and some WIO and made a yummy dinner of Greek chicken for dinner.

Wow, looks like an awesome corn maze. I spent last weekend with my family and we did lots of fall-like things, but I could not talk them into doing a corn maze!

Getting My Groove Back...Again!

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

Groove: definition-a fixed routine = emoticon

I recently purchased the Chris Freytag 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Workout System. It includes 3 DVDs of workouts, with a workout plan, and food plan. Let me just say the food plan is lame. It has two days of sample meals and about three recipes. The workouts are another story. They kick butt!

As I mentioned on Sunday, I completed the Total Body workout and the Buns workout. Still feeling some of the effects of that Buns workout today.
I had to move on (after taking it easy yesterday) and I moved onto the Kickboxing Workout. It was 40 minutes of fast moves that truly made me feel strong and empowered (her word). The best part was that while doing it I told myself that I can do this. I can take my weight loss and fitness goals to the finish line....... I have the tools. I have the strength. I have the drive. I have the POWER!

I feel like I am in my groove again. I'm embarrassed to say that my focus and determination has waned and faltered at times but I never throw in the towel. I will do this. I am not a quitter.

Groove on, girl -- you are always so inspirational to me and I think it is a natural process to have moments of "interest vs. commitment". Your challenges have really helped me to shake it up and I know your new plan will give you the kick you need! Just rock that new workout and you will be a happy happy girl by Thanksgiving. emoticon

I know we are our own worst critics. I couldn't believe when I saw the title of this blog. I was wondering where your groove went. Wherever it went I'm glad its back!!!!!

Enjoy your new, fresh routine. I think we regularly need to do something different. Not just because of plateaus but to stay excited.

I look forward to reading some great results in the future.

Sore Today

Monday, October 03, 2011

Boy am I sore today from all those lunges and squats. I went to the gym today and walked on the treadmill but kept it under4.0. I could feel every step!
I was scheduled to do the Cardio Kickboxing workout today but decided to give myself a day to recoup.
I did have a great massage today at work. It helped loosen up my sore muscles.

My Weekend

Sunday, October 02, 2011

I had a busy weekend.

Yesterday started out by volunteering at our community food pantry. It was the first time that I had volunteered there. I recently signed up with an organization in my town that coordinates volunteer activities. The food pantry had a few volunteers (some students) and I ended up being there only an hour versus the two hours that I originally thought. I spent the hour, checking freshness dates on the food and stacking the shelves.

From there I went and picked up my mother and DH for a family birthday party at a local restaurant. The service was slow but it was good to chat with everyone. Then we went back to my aunt’s house for cake and ice cream.

Today we had no plans outside of the house. I started the day with Day 1 of Chris Freytag’s 10lb Slimdown Xtreme – Total Body and Buns. The Total Body workout was 40 minutes. It was pretty intense. I made it through the entire workout but did modify some of the exercises. After that I did the 10 minute Buns workout. All I can say is OMG! This workout is all lunges and squats. Clock lunges with weight, lunges with knee lifts, squats with weights, squats picking weights off the floor, etc.

That was about 5-6 hours ago and I can already feel my legs. It will be interesting tomorrow to see how I feel. On schedule tomorrow is Cardio Kickboxing - thankfully not a lower body workout. You can find some of these workouts on OnDemand if you are interested. They are intense and if you’ve seen Chris Freytag lately, you know that they work!

I recently began the same program. I don't follow her plan precisely. Instead of the kickboxing, I use her Walking Cardio Shapeup. It is also intense. Yesterday I did the core. Tomorrow, I plan to do the upper body and abs, plus either walk outside or do the Leslie Sansone's 5 mile walk.

Good luck with your program.
