Resetting my goal

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Well, my goal when joining SP in Sept '07 was to lose 25 pounds by my 13th anniversary... that's today.

I've only lost 15 pounds so I guess that I need to redo that goal.

I think since I've not really lost anything in 6 months, I'll set my new goal to lose 10 more pounds by the end of the year... Dec 31, 2008.

I have had to reset some goals as well. It can be sort of disappointing, but just remember: This journey is not about the calendar. Sure, it's important to have goals, but remember that it is more important to be mindful of your daily choices. We are defined by the choices we make. No matter how much planning we do, weight will come off in our body's time, not the secular calendar's time. So congratulations on the 15 pounds lost! You should be very proud of that!!

The Prayer Book Is DONE! Amen!

Friday, July 11, 2008

Well, the prayer devotional book is back from the printers and labeled for pick-up on Sunday. It definitely has been a labor of love. I hope that everyone likes what I have done with it.

I plan to post the 40 days of prayer each day on my blogs starting on Wednesday July 16. (if I don't get distracted and miss a day)

I hope you all also will reap something good from them.

Now on to the next item... gathering and burning to CD all the items a member of our church needs to put together the very nice glossy brochure that will include the plans for the new building addition.

Working on VBS Quilt

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

For VBS, I chose to have the nursery this year. The last two years I had the preschool crafts. Boy, I needed a break from that.

Since the nursery kids don't participate in the Penny War (boys vs. girls) we have each year, I decided to make a quilted blanket to go along with the story of the Four Friends who lowered their sick friend down through the roof on a blanket to get healed by Jesus. I outlined the kids' hands on cardboard, cut them out, and then did blocks with dimensional fabric paint outlining those hands. I put each child's name on the blanket as well.

We have put the quilt up in the church's building and will sell it by silent auction. The money raised will go to a local Christmas charity called Chimes for Charity, Magi Boxes to be sent to Honduras, and Medical-Mission-in-a-box to be sent to Africa.

The bids went up to $20. It was purchased by one of the elders' wives for their newest grandbaby who will be born around the beginning of next year.

    Just an update...

As of today, the bid on the quilt is $15 from one of the grandparents whose grandson's hand prints are on the quilt. I'm leaving it up until after Sunday morning service and bible classes are over. Whoever has the highest bid then will get it.

I hope it goes higher. Our goal for the Penny War is $500. We still needed $200 as of Wednesday night.

WaHoo! More Inches Gone and 1 more pound!

Friday, June 13, 2008

I cannot believe it. I am still losing inches. I'm now a 36 waist and a 39 hip. I measured first thing this morning. I'm also down one more pound to 140.

A friend brought me some clothes that were given to her from another friend. I went through them and found several pieces that I can wear... several of them a size 10! I don't remember the last time I was in a 10... maybe high school?

pre-K bound for DD#2

Thursday, June 05, 2008

Well, I got the letter yesterday. My younger daughter got accepted to the pre-K program this next school year... that is, if the state budget doesn't take away the funding. She is 3 1/2 yo and is doing so many things... she writes her name, knows her letters and numbers, and can read some simple words. This program will be very good for her. But, the house will be pretty quiet come fall.
