Surgery finally done... doing okay

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Well, I was finally able to have my surgery on Tuesday. I stayed over night in the OB unit. It was so quite except for the sounds of babies. Nice! (Though I'll never have any more... not like I planned on it.) Sad to say, but I enjoyed the time away from the family. It was kind of a destress-time. The pain meds are doing their job pretty well. (alternating every 3 hours between ibuprophen and lortab when hurting, otherwise alternating meds every 6 hours)

I'm weight restricted (no more than 5 pounds), and I cannot drive until Tuesday when I go back to the doc for a check-up. I feel so much better already! Cannot wait to get fully healed and back to the normal of years ago.

UCES Voices - DD's Choral Group

Sunday, December 05, 2010

This is one of the songs from my older daughter's choral group's 2010 Christmas program. (I tried uploading the whole program, but it was taking way too long. The whole program is about 16 minutes in all.)

DD had a great show!

Saturday, July 24, 2010

I have to say that I am impressed more and more each time I see my daughter perform. She was very animated. She did great with her lines. She was the most "out there" dancer on stage. Even when she had a wardrobe malfunction, she didn't let that mess her up. (The "dress up" top they had on her as a rock lobster came undone all the way down the back. She was wearing a white leotard underneath....They changed her costume, again.)

Everyone did a great job... even the kid who usually messes up in the shows did great. (Bless his heart, he tries but his mouth is too slow for his brain.)

I've posted a couple of other pics on my sparkpage.

Tomorrow is my DD's big day....

Friday, July 23, 2010

Saturday is opening night for my older daughter's debut in Alice in Wonderland, Jr. She is playing Matilda, Alice's sister, who is teaching her a history lesson. Then, she has the part of a Rock Lobster, front row center, leading the pack. And, she is playing the part of the Petunia of "The Golden Afternoon" flowers. She has parts in half of the songs in the play. While she has done plays before, this is the first time she has had mulitple parts that all have speaking or singing lines.

I cannot wait to post pictures. I know she will end the play as Matilda, but I really want to get a pic of her as the Petunia. She is supposed to wear a tutu around her face as her petals. Of course, all rehearsals are closed; so it will be a surprise to me what she will be wearing except for the black leotard and leggings that will be the constant in all her costumes.

A True Blessing

Monday, July 19, 2010

I just had to share our family's blessing.

The girls and I went to the chuch building today to place our order for Angel Food (a ministry that our church is a distributor for). Since the secretary's office is small, I asked the girls to wait in the two chairs out in the hall. Well, my little one started calling her sister's name telling her there was a backpack with her name on it between the chairs. Lo and behold, there were two backpacks... one for my older DD and one for the younger.

My older's was the backpack from LL Bean (the exact pattern) that she had been trying to get me to order since we received a catalog from them about 2 weeks ago. There were two shirts monogrammed with the school letters, one had her first initial, and there were two other polo shirts. There was a pair of t-shoes, 2 pairs of flip flops, a couple of belts, a scarf, and a headband.

My little one received a pretty pink polka dot backpack and lunch bag from Old Navy, 5 polo shirts, 7 headbands, 2 pairs of flip flops, and a pair of t-shoes.

We don't know who left them there. There was no identifying note or anything. I do have a few ideas, though. Our custodian, who is also an elder's wife, came in while we were there. She had a grin on her face as big as the Cheshire Cat's. I have an idea that maybe some of the ladies got together to treat the girls with this special gift.

We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family.

Yes, a church family with members who listen with a pure heart and give with open hand is a blessing.
