On Facebook? Please vote for our 4-H club.

Friday, April 16, 2010

Hello all,

My older daughter and nephews are part of the 4-H club here in Obion County. For the last few weeks, we have partnered with the Tractor Supply Company stores to raise money for 4-H by selling paper clovers. We recently heard of a video contest where we can win $ 250 for our agent be able to purchase items for our clubs from the National 4-H Mall.

My twin sister made a video which includes our agent and several of the county's 4-Hers who have been helping with the campaign. We would appreciate your voting for our video.

Here's how you vote:

1) go on your Facebook page
2) become a friend of 4-H
3) go to the wall
4) find the Obion County Tractor Supply Company (TSC) video
5) give our video a thumbs UP!

I don't personally have a Facebook page (spark people is all I really have time for); so I'd appreciate everyone voting for our video. I know with your help we can do it.

BTW: Voting ends this Sunday.

Spaghetti Supper Benefit for Brad

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

For anyone in the Union City, TN area, I'd love to have you come out and support my friend Brad who has pancreatic cancer.

Saturday, April 17th at the Exchange Street Church of Christ at 420 Exchange Street in Union City, the 1989 class of Obion County Central High School is hosting a spaghetti supper and silent auction to benefit our classmate Brad. The plates are $ 5.00 each and include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and tea. Serving begins at 6:00pm and goes to 8:30pm.

The silent auction begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm. The winning bidder must be present to pay for and collect their items at 8:30 pm. There is more than $ 3,100 worth of items in the auction. The items include a Vince Young signed Titans football, a Memphis Grizzlies fan pack, an MTD Yard Man Kevin Harvick self-propelled lawnmower, photographs by two professional photographers, gardening products, jewelry, scented candles, purses, gift certificates (for many items including food, chiropractic services, and an oil change), and much much more.

I know too many of you are too far away to come, but I would appreciate all of you thinking about us during this time and praying for this event to be successful.

My Award-winning DD...

Sunday, April 04, 2010

My older daughter and her father attended the Lads to Leaders convention in Nashville this weekend. It is primarily a competition of Church of Christ children that prepares them to be leaders in Christ's church. My daughter competed in Art Says It, Good Samaritians, Bible Bowl, Oral Bible Reading, Song Leading for Leaderettes, Puppets, and Oral Bible Reading. The first two were items that were completed prior to the convention and judged at the event.

My daughter did very well. Her first competition was Oral Bible Reading. She read the passage about the blind man in John 9. She scored a perfect score.... a 15 out of 15. She then received a bronze metal for the number of points she accumulated for the volunteer work that she did over the last few months. We are going to start keeping records of all her volunteer work right now so maybe next year she will get a silver or even a gold metal.

The thing that I am most proud of... my daughter won 3rd place for her grade division in Song Leading for Leaderettes. She brought home a trophy for that. Immediately after the competition, she called me upset that she had gotten off a beat (yes, only one beat) in her conducting. She competed against about 30 other girls in her grade... some of which had been there before. This was her first time at the competition. She is looking forward to next year.

Dad home; s-BIL still in hospital

Sunday, March 28, 2010

My dad got to come home today. The interior stapled area where the appendix was removed was leaking. Dad is on strict bed rest.

My step-BIL is still in the hospital recovering from his heart attack and having the stents put in.

Dad and S-BIL in Hospital

Saturday, March 27, 2010

Well, I guess my dad was up trying to do too much too soon. His incision started "leaking" so he had to go back to the hospital today. He is on an antibiotic and strict bedrest. I don't know when they will let him come home.

Also, my step-brother-in-law had a heart attack today. He had 4 stents put in his heart. He is in the same hospital as my dad. If I know my dad, he insisted that my s-bil have his cardiologist. Dad had a triple bypass a few years ago, himself. The same doctor is gran's cardiologist.

Seems like something continues to happen to our family, but I guess that isn't out of the norm for any family.

Please keep them both in your prayers.
