Results of My CT... and more tests to come

Thursday, August 06, 2009

Well, the pain in my side is still there. The doctor is baffled. The pain is like I have gallbladder problems... but I have no gallbladder.

The CT that I had done last week showed nothing but a small naval hernia. It was supposed to be fixed two years ago when I had my gallbladder taken out.

So, my next step is to see a gastro-doctor on Monday. I suppose he will schedule a colonoscopy, according to my primary doctor.

Sorry you are having issues! Hope the doctors figure out something soon and hopefully something benign! Hang in there.

I hope they figure things out soon. My mom has had multiple medical conditions and some of them have the doctors baffled as to why. So, her favorite saying these days is "I guess that is why they call it practicing medicine!"

DD as Babette in Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

I'm am so proud of my girl.. of course!

Tonight was her opening night. They performed to a packed house. She hit all her cues and was loud enough to be heard without being mic'd. She was so cute in her costume, and they even gave her a fake mole. She danced and sang and said her lines all perfectly. When she was singing, you could hear her above the other kids... except when the kids who were mic'd were singing.

I was so glad that my dad actually came to see her. His wife told me she would come whether or not he did. So, yeah! I'm glad that he is supporting my kids more than he did my sisters and me when we were growing up.

The director is already asking when my younger daughter will be able to be in the workshop. She'll be 5 in September, so she'll be able to be an extra in next summer's show. Yeah!

It is funny how our parents seem to do much better with their grandchildren than they did with us. I guess cause they were still practicing with us!
Glad for the better evening than yesterday!

I'm not very happy right now!

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Okay. As you know, my older DD has been in theater workshop the last 2 weeks. The B/G club has been picking her up except for Monday and Tuesday of this week because of an eye appt and a dentist appt. Tuesday afternoon I talked to the girl at the club and she told me she was going to get her the rest of the week. Today I had a dr appt. I got a call from my daughter that no one picked her up. Someone from the theater was nice enough to bring her to the club, but it was closed. The girl that dropped her off didn't know and left before my DD could get back to where she had parked. My daughter had to walk home. She got lost and somehow found her way back to the theater. From there, she knew how to get home. Thank God my gran was at home and able to let her in. I am so angry.

I called the girl in charge. She told me they closed the club because 80 of the 150 kids had signed up to go on a waterpark field trip. No one told me or my daughter that the club was closing. I mean, that is 70 kids that didn't go, but they closed anyway. She said that they posted notes, but I never saw any.

Right now I'm so mad I could punch somebody. When I was finally able to get home, she was still crying and very upset. She was so hot that I was afraid she was going to have a heat stroke. There is no telling how long she walked. I got the call from her an hour after she was supposed to leave the theater. So, she probably walked 30 or more minutes trying to get home. I know God had her in his Hands!

One thing is for sure... I'm not putting my 9 year old daughter's saftey in their hands any more!

Proud of "Honors" Daughter

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Well, last week we got a letter from the school inviting us to come to a meeting about advanced courses for our older daughter. That was tonight.

What we found out was that there are two Honors courses... Reading and Math. The students have to be invited to attend the courses, and they have to accept. Not all students invited would be able to attend both courses. There were certain guidelines for each course, and the students had to "pass" each one... ie. their 3rd year grades, their TCAP score, their STAR reading level, etc. Most of the students have been invited to one or the other class... my daughter has been invited to attend BOTH.

I hope that she will be able to keep up with her lessons if she decides to attend both... she's says that she's ready to sign the agreement. The courses will get more "in-depth" in their studies. The Reading curriculum has the requirement of 9 named books (actually 11, but there are 2 sets of 2 books that can be chosen between)... and there is the requirement of 3 novels that must be read outside of class.

This will be in addition to her regular 4th grade classes... Social Studies, Science, PE, computer, etc. And, I'm expecting her to be invited to participate in "Voices of UCES" which is the 4th/5th grade chorus.

Plus... I'm applying to be a substitute teacher. (Scream!... can I really deal with all this change?)

No Surgery for Gran. Yeah!

Friday, June 26, 2009

Gran had a CT of her carotid arteries on Monday. We saw the surgeon today. The test results showed less than 50% blockage in each artery. It said it was a calcification. That is the problem she has with her heart valve that causes her murmur.

Anyway, Thank God! she will not have to have surgery. We go back in 6 months for another ultrasound to track the progress.

Thanks to all of you who have been keeping us in your prayers.
