Gran had a Heart Attack

Monday, December 22, 2008

Hello all,

Grandma had a heart attack Sunday morning. Fortunately, we were at home and not at church yet. She sat up on the side of the bed, and it hit her. I called 911, gave her 2 aspirin, and went outside to wait for the paramedics. They were there in what only seemed 3 minutes. They were in and out in less than 5 and to the hospital which is not too far. When I got to the ER (only 30 minutes after I called 911), they already had her hooked up and had the patches on her and nitro under her tongue.

There was no "medical sign" of a heart attack which means that we were able to stop the attack before damage was done.

She was able to come home today, Monday.

I am driving to Dyersburg in the morning to drop her off with my uncle who will take her to Jackson to see the heart specialist's nurse practitioner. I'd go with her myself, but I have no one to leave my two girls with.

Please pray that she will not have a second attack and that the weather will cooperate tomorrow as the weather forecast is calling for sleet and freezing rain.

New Pics on My Page

Saturday, December 20, 2008

I hope that everyone is doing well. I've got some new pictures that I was able to get to load up on my page. Of course they are of my girls! One has my gran in it, too. I'd love for you to stop by and check them out.

Merry Christmas.

I love those smiles. When I try to get my 6 Grandchildren to smile so I can take a pic it usually ends up at least 1 has a weird face or has eyes closed, etc. I think I may try again this Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Proud of my Girl!

Thursday, December 11, 2008

My older daughter is part of the Chorus Kids at her school again this year. She loves to sing. This year, the director needed a helper to direct a 2-part song that the group was doing. She picked my daughter to help. Needless to say, I was very surprised when my daughter came down off the risers and started directing. She didn't even tell me.

She has been learning to direct from the Youth Ministers at our church who are both music majors. Mr. F says that she has "the gift" of music and is a "natural" when it comes to directing.

I'm so proud of her and just had to share.

You're exactly right, Treppils! She's the one with the big smile, wearing glasses, and looking straight at the camera. I wish there was some way to post video. I'd post the song that she helps direct.

Her group made the front page of the local newspaper this past Thursday. They were performing at the local senior citizens' resident apartments.

It's Been A While!

Friday, November 14, 2008

So much to do and so little time (or so I want to think).... I really need to get back on track. I've been remiss in coming on SP. I know I really need the encouragement. Thank you so much to those who have been there to "kick me in the rear."

My grandmother (who lives with us) was away for about a week and a half visiting with her sister-in-law and niece. I did several things in the house that I've not had time or energy to do. Of course with 5 of us, the laundry is never-ending..... as well as the dishes (thank God for my husband who does them!) I still have lots to do before Thanksgiving which, of course, is at our house... and I'm doing the cooking (chicken for us this year... no more getting up at 5 am to cook a bird that has leftovers for days!)

Though I'm a stay-at-home mom (one in 3rd and the other in pre-K), I don't feel like I can go out and get a full-time job... or even a part-time one for that fact. I never know if Gran is going to be having a good day or a bad one (Alzheimer's). So, I brought my knitted purses to the artists' consignment shop; and I'm teaching a beginner's knitting class there this Saturday. I'm hoping that I can turn this into a once a month class. I can make up to $80 if the class is full. (Crossing my fingers!)

Hi PeggyO... I came up with the pattern for the purse by myself. It's really just a knitted rectangle that is brought up and sewn together on the sides. Then I knit a handle and attach it. The bigger the rectangle... the bigger the purse.

I had 5 students in my class. I made $40 for the hour and a half that they were there.

(P.S. So far, none of my purses have sold. Hopefully they will do well this month since Christmas is coming up.)

You're in my prayer jar to get a full class. Where did you find the instructions for a knitted purse? Is it fun to make?

Don't EVER stop!

Monday, October 20, 2008

Yuck! I've gotten off my routine and gained back 5 pounds over the summer. It got so hot that I just couldn't walk anymore. Then, my husband's job hours changed, and he has to leave the house earlier. So... excuses, excuses.... I'm still not back to walking.

I really do need to get back into doing something. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself.

Its so easy to get out of our routines and so hard to get back in. I am having this same problem. The other day I needed to ride my friends horse but really didn't feel like it. I knew if I got in my truck and drove home w/o riding him I would feel fat and lazy and awful, so that thought alone made me get it done. Tell yourself you will walk for 5 minutes and then see what happens. You can do anything for 5 minutes and once you get started you will probably want to keep going. If you don't, then at least you did 5 minutes which is more than ZERO. Do this every time your feeling lazy and unmotivated.

Come on you can do it.
Can you go out walking when your husband leaves for work? or else is it in the middle of the night or do you have little children you can' leave alone.
I am here to kick you in the butt.
