I HATE THE TREADMILL!!! But, if I don't want to get behind, the treadmill it is tomorrow. emoticonAs I type this, it is 78 degrees with 98 percent humidity and it is supposed to start raining any moment. I can even feel it in my knee and my knee rarely gives me problems anymore, but it sure does ache now. If it was just going to be rain, I run anyway, but the forcast is for severe thunderstorms throughout the day and into tomorrow evening, so, the treadmill it is.

Got a lead on a job....not exactly what I would've chosen, but I can pick and choose the jobs I want to do, and it will be some extra income until something else comes along. A friend of mine waitresses banquets and she is bringing in decent money, not great, but at least as much p0er hour as Home Depot is paing me, and I'm a Specialist in Millwork, so supposedly I make more than most people.
So, I'll get to the thrift store tomorrow and then to AJ Wright to pick up a tuxedo shirt. I'm certain I can find black slacks at the thrift store and I'm not going to pay alot for slacks that I'll be using to work a part time job, but the two pairs that I have are back from the 177 lb days....NO WAY CAN I WEAR THEM!
Tomorrow night I will go to a job transition suppport & networking group. Maybe they can get my resume some more exposure.

In the meantime, I'm going to get a good night's sleep and do some extra strength training tomorrow and then do some intervals on the treadmill. I think I'll try doing the C25K but with jogging, running intervals.....gosh, I'm going to miss running outside this winter. Need some new tricks to keep myself motivated.

    I have already started worring about this winter, too. Actually, I don't think I'll be able to run once school starts. Not sure it will be light enough in the AM and I'm not usually free until the kids go to bed. I have my bike I can hook up to a trainer in the basement, but that is all. I might go to a used sporting goods store to see what they have.

    I totally understand about not wanting to exercise on the treadmill. This weather is making doing anything outside miserable for sure.

    I know what you mean about the treadmill. I've had to resort to it these past few days myself, because the heat and humidity here are causing me to have asthma attacks if I run outside. And I've got a 5K this weekend, and a 10K on 8/21, so I can't lose traction now.

Good luck on the job...you seem to have a very positive attitude, so definitely keep that up...it sure does help!

My Day of Rest - Well Kind Of

O(h, I DO love my Sundays. Even though this one was pretty packed with activity, it was still my day to be fed and charged up and to get ready for another week. I didn't get any fitness in, but I figured that I did 6 days of fitness this week which is a HUGE improvement over the past few weeks. I logged a total of 306 minutes (on top of my normal 5-7 miles walking at work ea day) for a total calorie burn of 1335 anad logged 12.6 miles running. It's almost nine now, so I'm going to hit it early and get a short run in tomorrow before work at 7AM. Then Tues, Thurs and Satuday, I will get in my regular runs w/ strength and x-trng on the other days.

The combination seems to be working for me since I've really amped up my calorie intake to now average over 350 -400 calories a day more than I was eating before going to maintenance. I still dropped a little weight, maybe a half pound or so, and another percent of body fat.

Haven't had as much time to do Sparking as I would like....have a lot of work to do to get out resumes and find places on line to apply for another job and do the Financial Peace homework etc. plus fit in my best friends birthday yesterday, my older sisters birthday this coming weekend and my neice coming up from TX for a visit tomorrow. All this on top of work and church obligations and everything else that I normally do. I'm afraid that sleep is what has been suffering.

Still, in my spare time trying to figure out why alot of my music wouldn't transfer from my computer onto the memory card for my phone and alot of what I don't want for music on the phone, I now need to go in and delete in order to put together useful playlists for running. It's not urgent though, as sleep is rather important at this point....haven't gotten 7+ on any night yet this week.

Hope everyone is doing well on their goals and has new ones set for this month. I'm going to try to capitalize on what is left of the nice weather....winter is coming....BOO HISS!!!!

My Morning Observations....

I made it up again today - day two of getting out to hit the road and run n the AM. Yesterday, my first day, was only a little over a mile, which may be the case many mornings when I have to be at work at 7AM. Today, however, was a day off and I didn't have be anywhere until 9:30, so I had planned on a nice lonnggg run of 4-5 miles. I notice, though, that it takes me longer to ger waremed up in the morning and I seem to not have as much energy to push for the longer mileage. I did eat a little before I ran, a half deli flat and a tblsp pnut butter with a dozen or so grapes. Then, when I got home, I had a cup of plain yogurt w/sugar free pancake syrup and 1/2 Special K plus protein flakes. Maybe my body just isn't ready to run everyday...I'm not sure, maybe it was just the day...I'm going to try to do another shorter run tomorrow and then see how Saturday feels. Pace wise, I did well though. I had cardio trainer on, but it never started so all I can guage by is my pedometer watch, but it's always been quite accurate. According to it, I did 3.16 miles at just barely under the 11 min/mile pace. I don't know if that was one really good mile or if the pace was fairly even. Still going to take some getting used to on the cardio trainer....and still need to get those play lists changed over.

I'm really wanting to get my weekly mileage up so that I can start to seriously look at doing a 10K and ultimately a half-marathon, but I guess I'm just going to have to feel this out and see what my body will allow me to do to push it to the next level.

    Congrats on getting out there! I also find it is a little harder to get going first thing in the morning, but the 'good effects' seem to last longer and get my day off on the right foot.

You are wise to go slowly and feel things out. I am reading about too many people who are pushing themselves past the point where they feel comfortable and they are winding up with injuries.

Well, it's very late and I need to be in bed, but I just needed to report that this morning, for the first time, I made it out the door, warmed up, ran 1.05 miles and did a quick stretch and back in the door by 5:07AM. Had to take care of the animals first, but downed a bit of gatorade G2 while I was tending to them and then they got their treats and I hit the road.
It did take a little longer to warm up in the early am than usual, so I didn't have time to run further and still be able to eat breakfast, fix lunch, get showered and dressed and be out the door for work by 6:35-6:40, but it's something and it's a start. It really made the day start off well, and actually the whole day went pretty darned good. Now if I can just get my playlists loaded onto the phone so that I can run them under the cardio trainer app......in the meantime, I guess I just carry both the phone and the MP3.
Going for day two tomorrow. Most mornings I won't have time for more than a mile or mile and a half max if I have to be at work at 7, but tomorrow I don't have to be anywhere until I go to Feed My Starving Children to pack food at 9:30, so I should have plenty of time for another 4+ miles. That will have me over 9 for the week so far. Going to see what I can do this week and then shoot for5-10% increases each week......wish me luck and MUCH thanks for all the prayers and encouragement and well wishses to get me out the door this morning!!!! I FEEL GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You are motivating me to become a runner. I am an avid cyclist, but recently I read that running will help me lose the flab.
I get Fitness magazine and there was a plan to become a 5k runner in it. I started it on Monday. I have not been able to run everyday yet. I am headed to the gym to run again tonight.

Giving It A Go - Again!

Very short blog tonight....have made it up for at least short amount of fitness several days in a row, but still can't get mybutt out the door to run....I know once I do it, I'll be able to continue, so tomorrow I try again. I have been running a mile in just about 11 1/2 mins, so since the minimum workout I do in the am in 10 mins, plus the time it takes to put in the DVD and cue up the session, will be a least a mile worth of running time. Wish me luck, I have to add that to everything I have to do before leaving the house at 6:35 to punch in at work at 7AM....this is going to be rich!
