My, How Time Flys

Monday, May 17, 2010

Ah, my three day hiatus is over - and it's already 10:30. Back to work bright and early, and I officially have a streak going of getting up with the alarm AND getting in some fitness before I go to work. I really don't want to break that one, so I'm going to have to say g'night to you now and fill you in on the rest tomorrow! Thank you, all you wonderful friends, for being there to share the struggles and the joys of this journey! I thank God for you all!!!

Remember the movie Groundhog Day....where every time Bill Murray woke up it was the same - Groundhog Day....well, if I were to live that experience, I think I would want today to be that day. The day started with winning twenty-five points on the wheel spin emoticon

Just one of the projects that I got done to day was cleaning out my closet and four totes of clothing and a dresser - a truly obscene amount of clothes. My last job was at as a Resale store manager, so I dressed (well) everyday, but it was time to tackle the beast and it took hours. I took a load of 30+ pieces of clothing plus books, shoes, purses & a light fixture to the resale store to donate.

Got in fitness (not as much as I would have liked-but was incredibly productive otherwise). Remembered to eat, stayed within all goals and drank 10 total cups of water - even got in all my calcium and fiber. Tried on a ton of clothes and rediscovered some really cute things I had put away hoping for someday. SOMEDAY arrived today....I'm going to look darling in San Antonio!

Got the visual when trying on all the old clothes - and the one new sun dress I bought ($2.50) - had some quiet time this evening after getting all the old new clothes back in the closet and organized to put on the shorts with the floral scalloped edge and a flower tee (too cute) and sat on the porch w/a cup of coffee and my feet up for about 20 mins? or so just imagining the combinations of clothes I could now put together and wear, and congratulating myself on tackling a project that I would have thought would take at least three days - going through all those clothes.....and the trunk....and two more purses and an old briefcase. Oh, yeah, and I have only 15 e-mails remaining in my inbox and eleven of them I'm just holding onto for further action on my part. Down from over 100 this morning - worked on a few at a time as I took breaks from the other projects.

Worked outside today, too, cleaning out the trunk of the car, donated the old computer of my sisters and the light fixture that I had been hauling around and took two sun dresses to the dry cleaners. - also got in 15 minutes of exercise this morning and 15 minutes late this afternoon with a new exercise video I got. (Went to a resale store today and got 10 videos for $2.50 - a whole variety, yoga, pilates, cardio blast, buns, arms & abs of steel, and two that are specifically geared to short, high intensity workouts.) Quite a find and a nice inexpensive reward for the five day AM fitness streak!

Now to get to bed for day SIX - before church!!! Going running with a buddy from the 5K tomorrow afternoon!!! emoticon

and THANK YOU TO THE TEAM LEADER OF THE FFU SPARK WARRIORS - You made me push the limits of what I believes possible and, given the time, look at what got done! emoticon

Wow it sounds like you had a very productive day.
I went though my closet about a month ago my summer and winter wardrobe my children told me what to get rid of and what to keep. They like me to stay in style and not look frumpy.
I don't like frumpy clothes but I also don't want to look younger then I should either. I got rid of three shopping bags full. A lot of the clothes were eighty's clothes my children told me. I did keep a few things that they wanted me to get rid of. I still have a nice summer and winter wardrobe. I always add a few items of clothes each year any how. But until I find out waht my job is going to be I don't want to be spending money.
So glad you had a wonderful day with your projects and your eating and exercising.

Time to Unwind and Get A Fresh Start

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Wow, life has been so busy, busy, busy. It's Saturday morning, 8:30 AM, and I have three days in a row off work with nothing on my schedule except church on Sunday morning! WOOHOO!!!! WOOHOO!!!! WOOHOO!!!! That's not saying that I don't have anything to do, I'm sure that I will keep myself more than busy. There is so much to catch up on I hardly know where to start, but I'm going to make a list of the top two or three urgent items and then two or three things I'd like to get done and go about tackling them at a steady pace - while still taking time for me and not getting frantic about it. I don't remember the last time I could look at my schedule like that - or for that matter if I ever have. Maybe I'm learning something.

Anyway, the plan is to stay centered, stay on track nutritionally and get in some extra fitness. Try to get a couple of projects accomplished and maybe for once be a little ahead of the game when all is said and done. I need to start preparing for vacation as I'm going to San Antonio with 4 of my closest girlfriends at the end of June through the 4th of July. That's my "home" city and I haven't been back in around 10 years. I can't wait, but I'd really like to have everything organized and be sure that I have clothes that fit and everything I'll need for a seven day stay. I've already checked out the hotel on line and they do have a fitness room and a pool so that won't be an issue, but eating down there could be a toughie - may need to work out a couple or three times a day to work off the calories and fat. I know it will be way to hot for me to run outside then, so I'm praying the fitness room looks as good as advertised.

Hope you enjoy your three days off and also get some rest.
It sounds like a lot of fun going away to your home town with some friends .
It must be hard for you in the winter seeing you are from a warm climate state then to live in the cold winters for ten years or more seeing you said visit in ten years.

You have learned a lot...and are proving it by making a short list instead of fretting about the whole of your projects. You can only do one thing at a time anyway so it's just one project at a time not stewing about all of them.
How fun to be planning a vacation and revisiting a place where you haven't been for so long. I am sure you and your girl friends will have a fantastic time! Sounds as though you are planning to take your newly acquired healthy habits with you too... woo hoo A positive step to our new lifestyle... not thinking of vacation as a time to change our habits, but finding ways to make them work in a different environment... how exciting. You are doing such a great job.
Enjoy your days off.

Days off of work and planning for vacation, that's like a double bonus. You get to enjoy some time now while anticipating the vacation to come. I can't believe you will have 7 days with your girlfriends. You sure do need that. What a time to relax, regroup and get centered all while laughing like a bunch a school girls. I'm jealous.

Enjoy your time off now. emoticon

Not Breaking this Streak

Friday, May 14, 2010

It's after 9:30 and I've been going strong since around 4:50 this AM. All in all the day went good. Only got in 20 mins of fitness - good thing I did it this am or it wouldn't have gotten done. Ate within all my ranges except 1 short on fiber and 3 shsort on calcium. Otherwise, very good and balanced.

My mood got twisted when I got home though. Funny how we empower people and let let controol out moods. Anyway, I can go to bed now and wake-up refreshed and go for 5 days in a row.

Tomorrow will be a good day to catch up on so much....I can't wait!

Can I say 'WOW' for your long days!! What endurance! It is always interesting how we allow our loved ones bad energy to flow right over us and ruin a good thing. It happens so quickly that we don't even know it is happening until our moods change. emoticonOn a good note, emoticonfor some days off!! Enjoy my dear emoticon! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good for you for recognizing how your mood can be changed. Now...what can you do about it? I know things are hard for your sis, and maybe there isn't anything you can do to help her, but you have to have a strategy for dealing with it so you don't take all that on yourself. I get worried about you with that. You are so strong and yet it seems your sis can knock you down so quickly. Just know that I care about you. emoticon emoticon

The True Test of My Perseverance - 5/13/10

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Okay, it's no tremendous streak, but it is a HUGE accomplishment for me. Three days in a row, and I got fitness in BEFORE work!!! WOOHOO! It's tough as I have to be at work at 7 or 8 AM on most days, and before that I have to eat, take care of the two dogs and two cats, make my lunch and my snack, shower, dress etc. I'm really putting a lot of effort into this one. In fact, tomorrow am is the true test....it's a 7AM day, so, now don't laugh, I'm going to bed in sports bra and leggings...that way I can roll out of bed, let the dogs out, get the oatmeal going in the micro and set out fruit....get downstairs and work out, and eat while I pack my lunch and snack...at least that's the plan....oh, yeah, somewhere in there I need to let the dogs back in and feed them and the cats.

I've got a ton more sparking and e-mails etc I want to catch up on, but it's 8:58 now and I have to get to bed if any of this is going to come off close to what I have planned. To those of you I haven't had a chance to communicate with...I miss you and after tomorrow, I'm off work for a couple of days and I PROMISE to catch up with you all.

Keep SPARKING.....you are all lighting my path....and thanks to my spark friend who admitted she is sleeping in her work out gear....great idea....I think this just might work!

I too am playing catch up on my friends blogs.
You are doing really great keeping this streak going.
I had a small taste of what you are experiencing this week. My daughter and I had a rummage sale and I got up early to get in my exercise before I left each day. whew...glad I don't have to be that busy all the time!
I have so much admiration for people who do this every day!
It really takes dedication to keep this streak going.. you are doing so great!!
