GOAL MET!!! THANK YOU SPARK PEOPLE!!!

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Today I made my first weight loss goal. When I joined Spark on Jan 2 it seemed like forever to reach 146 from 177 - even Spark projected it to take untill August sometime. I was hoping sooner, and figured more like June or July, but as I continued to follow the program and exercise the weight kept falling, much more slowly these past 6 weeks or so, but today, I finally not only reached my goal, but I was 1/2 lb below my initial goal. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Not much could get me down today. I even treated myself to a new perm so that the hair will be easier to care for this summer, what with the running and swimming etc etc etc.

The end of the day was not so hot though. I got home to find out that my sis' divorce was made final today - and not with a very good outcome - as if any divorce really has a good outcome. Plus, she goes in for another surgery this next Wednesday to try to clear a blood clot from her leg that developed during her last surgery in November.

Good thing that I made myself do 15 mins. of fitness this am before work or I would be getting none in today. It's now just after 9 and tomorrow morning comes early, so I better get to bed. Gonna try for a third morning in a row with getting at least a few minutes of fitness in. That would be a new PR for me.

Sorry, but I'll have to spark later. Love you all and much thanks to each and everyone of you for seeing me this far ono this journey. I share this accomplishment with you all - I would have never made it without you!!!

You should be thrilled that you made your first goal I have to say I am envious. I have been a member here for two years . I weighed in at Tops tonight and gained another pound and a quater. I realize some of my problem is I can't exercise because of the pain and until I find out what is causing it. I had a goal set to be under 150 by June first. Another goal I have not met.
Well you keep up the good work !

Starting to like early workouts too much - 5/11/10

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Just a quick check-in, and a word of caution. I didn't have to go to work untill noon today, so I figured that I'd get some fitness in before work because I knew I wouldn't feel much like a good workout after work. So I figured 10-15 minutes and then a few minutes when I got home and I'd have my half hour for the day. So I got started and was fasinated by how some of the exercises (especially my core muscles) were actually getting stronger and the reps were better form etc etc etc and then I looked at my watch - 40 minutes had gone by and I had only run 10 minutes during my workout and I had 10 minutes to get to work-good thing I only live 3 miles away. I was two minutes late and didn't have a lunch with me, so I wound up eating baked cheetos for my lunch, it was the healthiest thing in the machines. I had a smile on my face all day and I was still well within all my nutritional guidelines today. Even got in my fiber and
calcium.

It's 9PM now, and I have to be at work at 7AM, plus breakfast is a must and I really WANT to work out a bit in the AM. Have to go get my hair permed after work, so it'll be a loonnnggggg day.

Keep a eye on the clock with those morning workouts. I hope to get into working out in the mornings when I am able to workout again.
Make sure you keep foods you can grab in a hurry like protien bars, baggies of fruit or veggies or cheese sticks or cubes with crackers. Cheetos are not enough engery food to last you your work hours.

Goal Met - Goal Set - 5/10/10

Monday, May 10, 2010

Well, the OFFICIAL results are in. The were 319 competitors in the Fox Valley 5K, 188 were women and in the 40-49 year old women's bracket there were 49. My official time was 36:21 and I was 31 out of my age bracket (not too shabby for the second oldest in the bracket) and
137 out of the 188 women, 262 overall. I'll take it. It's a starting point and I did better than I had hoped. Bt now, I want to do it again.

I've been giving some thought to what goal to set next and have even considered doing the 10K next year, but I think that for now, I need to buckle down and work on getting my times down. I think I'm going to start the C25K over but use the walking part for my normal pace and the running part for stepping up my pace. I'd like to work my times down to a 30min 5K or possibly better. Any other suggestions are most welcome.

Seems like my appetite is getting back to normal and I had a little more energy this morning. Even got in a little stretching and some fitness tonight (15 mins). I shooting for a solid eight more hours of sleep tonight and then up and at 'em to starting the speed work.

One of my running buddies is doing another 5K next month, I'm thinking of joining her. SOOO much fun! Plus it will keep me on my training schedule.

Now off to kick back with my new Mandissa CD, do a little reading and devotions and get some sleep.

Whoa - I Believe I've Hit The Wall - 5/9/10

Sunday, May 09, 2010

First of all, I hope all of you who are moms had a simply wonderful Mother's Day! My sis and I went out to eat together tonight as her kids are not in the picture and our mom passed away when I was 14. I think Mother's Day will always be a little hard.

It's now almost nine and I'm heading to bed. I tried to workout this afternoon, but I think I really have hit the wall. I felt so full of energy yesterday, and last night and today I did lighting for the Mothers Day services (we had Mandissa LIVE - WOOHOO!) But then, sometime this afternoon, all the adrenaline must have left because I feel positively drained.

Got 20 minutes of exercise and that was pushing it....calcium intake was low, protein and fiber were a little low and calcium was way down and I just feel so tired I can't eat so I'm heading to bed now for a good nights sleep and hopefully tomorrow I'll have my energy back. I want to run!

Your body is needing some R&R right now. You worked it hard on Saturday so that is great that you got 20 minutes of exercise in. I hope you have some sweet dreams and let your body recover. Have a great Monday!! emoticon

You put your body through quite a task on Saturday. Give yourself a day or two to get back in balance.

I know you were trying to decide what your next goal or challenge would be. Did you decide?

You worked out at least twenty minutes they say ten minutes even a help a day. Don't be so hard on yourself your body is trying to tell you it needs rest after yesterday. don't worry you will be running again. Hope you get a good night's sleep. Must be you never had any children?
Take Care Hugs Lorraine
