Day Seventy-eight - Impending W5D3 C25K - 3/20/10

Sunday, March 21, 2010

It's 10:45 and I'm home from work....now two days off in a row! emoticonI start with church tomorrow am,, and I can't think of a better way to start some time off. A chance to reflect and get centered is just the way to start this break before I go into a 10 day stretch. Next week is not so bad, but the week after is Easter week and I have two lighting practices, four services to light, a meeting for my women's group and one evening of serving with my women's group at the local homeless shelter on top of a 38 hour work week..... emoticon

Today I did D2W5 of C25K. It wasn't easy, but I made it and I don't hurt as bad as I did after Day 1. My shin is just the littlest bit sore, but I did an extra long stretch, warm-up and a longer stretch and cool down after. I think the soreness is probably because the new shoes make me use different muscles or I'm just using the same ones diferently. I definately have a great deal more cushion, yet support and spring to my stride. My time wasn't the best, but peed will come. Now to tackle the dreaded twenty minutes. Aaarrrgh! If I can do that, I can do anything.

The pedometer is working well. I am doing between 10,000 and 20,000 steps on an average day at work. Today and yesterday were a little over (20,582 today), so my legs are really getting a work out. Tomorrow they get a break and I will do extra core and upper body strength.

Well, it's after 11:00 now and the cat and I are TIRED. More tomorrow....night all! emoticon

You can do day 3. It is hard, but knowing that we are all going to want to know how you did will help. Make sure to do that positive self-talk. You can do this. Yoy can do this. Just look how far you have come.

Enjoy your time off. It sounds like you will be rechanging your spiritual batteries, too.

Can't wait to hear how day 3 goes for you.

Day Seventy-seven - Almost Done - 3/19/10

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Only one more day of work left to this most recent stretch of craziness, and I don't have to go in until afternoon to close. That's why I'm up at nearly midnight trying to get caught up on tracking of my "other" goals and communications with my Spark friends and e-mails etc etc etc.

Didn't get alot of things done these past days that I would normally have wanted to, but I am esperienceing a change in my attitude. I got done what NEEDED to be done...not always perfectly but I did my best and that is good enough. I am going into tomorrow pretty well caught up and have a little time to do some exra fitness.

My shin is still aching a bit, so hopefully by tomorrow, the pain will be gone and I can get in W5D2 C25K. If not, I'll have to do the bike (yuck) to keep up the cardio stamina. I'm no spring chicken though and don't want to risk an injury.

Okay. Blog done and still 15 mins left till midnight.....off to emoticon

Have a GREAT week-end all - HAPPY SPARKING!

I'm still not sure. I read the article on this site. I just decided to rest for a couple of days and see what happened. I'm still sore, so I'm not sure. My brother-in-law is an athlete trainer. I'm going to try to touch base with him this weekend and get his opinion. I'll let you know what he says.

You must be very organized. I know you have your priorities where you want and need them to be. It is so good that you are taking time for yourself. I hope your shin is feeling better so you can continue your training.

Day Seventy-six - Treating Myself - 3/18/10

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Sorry this is going to be short and sweet. I put myself on a sparking timer tonight and I am over by 1/2 hr....old habits die hard. I did promise myself some quiet me time just meditating and reading before bed tonight.

Brought home mexican for my sis tonight from her favorite place. She had our usual, but I changed things up for me. Ususally have three dorados (fried tacos) with rice, beans, cheese and a LARGE horchata - sweet spiced rice milk. I had shrimp diablo and rice no beans and saved half of the rice, with 3 slivers of avocado and one and a half small corn tortillas, lettuce and tomato.
That was really stepping out on a limb of faith since I hadn't a chance to track the food I'd eaten so far today. I had everything written down though and after dinner tracked all my food for the day and I had enough left for a skinny cow ice cream sandwich and a turtle candy for my snack - I know, not exactly healthy, but I was soooo happy for making such wise choices the rest of the day - I deserved a treat and still was within all my limits.

Did twenty five minutes of stretching and upper body ST .... my right calf is still sore from what I assume is running in the new shoes. My gaait is definately different. Tomorrow may be light also, I don't want to injure anything this close to the race (May)....still have a long way to go and can't afford to hurt myself now.

Hope you are all well...tried to make contact with as many of you as possible. I will do more tomorrow and Sunday is my day off, so it'sd catch up day.

Take care all and have a great weekend!!!

Doesn't it make you feel proud when all that you have learned starts coming through in healthy choices? I sometimes feel surprised that I did so well without the tracker, but that is the goal we are hoping to achieve to maintain our goal weight once we get there. Keep up the good work.
Our snow storm has gone south of us... I am hoping we miss it all together.
Have a great weekend.

    Great job monitoring your food.

My right calf is what is giving me my problems. Make sure you rest now so it doesn't get worse. I can tell that I won't be doing any running this weekend. My leg is still sore to walk on, but I think it is getting better. It will be two weeks of down time for me. So take a day or two of taking it easy on your leg now or it could be weeks later. This is one of those "learn from my mistakes" kind of things.

Hope the rest of your week goes well and I'll pray for you.

Day Seventy-five - Pushing Through - 3/17/10

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Today has been one of those days that you just push through. I got to sleep in a little and was very excited to get to go out and try the new running shoes. Got to do my devotional and a bite to eat and then hit the road. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tough, REALLY tough. The shoes made a big difference on how my feet, legs, hip and even back feel, but they don't do a darned thing for my heart and lungs. Still have some conditioning to do there. But I made it....thanks to the inspiration of ALOT of really good spark friends cheering me on from around the country/world. Thanks ladies, I definately would have walked before the end if I didn't have to report back....that last 60 seconds was a killer.

Came home and drank a bunch more water, had a snack and then hit the basement for another session of 50 mins of strength training and cardio. I'm working now through till Sunday, so I needed to get the extra time in to make sure I get all my fitness in this week. Running is taking priority right now, but I don't want to lose ground on the strength training, so I got in the extra minutes just in case the end of the week gets too hectic.

Got to do some Sprking too, so I'm not behind on that yet either. It's good to know that I'm going into these next few days prepared.

Have a Happy St Patti's Day everybody!!! Got to hit the shower - spark at you later!!!

That is awesome. It is such a great feeling to know that you CAN do it.

I was hoping my new shoes would help the breathing too, but they don't come with an iron lung. :) Keep doing what you can and it will all fall into place.

Day Seventy-four - I'll Be Up and At 'Em Tomorrow! - 3/16/10

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Not much happening today - first day of a mildly chaotic week. Work today and facilitated a women's study group on serving tonight. Tomorrow I work in the late afternoon and evening. It'll be a late day, but the good part is that I can sleep in a little - at least till 6:30 or so, and then I'm getting up to run - in the new shoes. I bet I don't hit the snooze. Maybe this will get me motivated to get moving and do my fitness early in the day, at least when it is nice out.

I can't believe that I'm not falling behind yet...just trying to sta focused and doing what I can with every available minute. Even found 15-20 mins. to sit and veg with sis in front of the tube. I really hate T.V., but she enjoys the company.

Tomorrow will be my D1W5 and I'm a bit scared....8 mins straight will be my longest run to date, so I'm praying for miracles fromthe shoes - please pray too, I'll need all the help I can get!

You can do it. You have been following the training program and you are ready. The shoes will help you to feel more comfortable on your feet and it will motivate you, but the work is all you and emoticon You are ready for this.

I will pray for you, but especially for your confidence.

May those shoes work just like Cinderella's did. Just jump out of bed with the alarm, put your new shoes on, click your heels together and run run run! Oh...wait that was Dorothy....oh well. Same deal.
