Going vegan

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

I just finished up a three week vegan challenge, plus no caffeine or alcohol or sweets. I can't believe I made it. I love meat! I love coffee! I love beer! Here is the kicker....I kinda want to continue this. I'm going to limit my meats to 4x a week and stay decaf. Beer, well, I don't drink a lot, but when I do, I'm limiting myself to one a week. That's 200 calories for a great microbrew. My treat :)

Going vegan, ehe? Have you seen this documentary called "Veguacated?" It was a real eye opener for me.

Holy Cow! That sounds so tough, especially the part about no sweets. Isn't it great when it all pays off though!

You are a brave lady. I do this thing called veggie week at my house to...well.. not really sure why but I always feel great afterward.

I must admit around day 3 I start dreaming of steak or a burger LOL

Vegan is a whole other ballpark though. You go, I bet you feel amazing. I know this guy who is a raw vegan. You should check it out if you ever want to kick up a notch.

i made raw vegan lasagna once and was surpised how good it can be!

2013 Goals

Friday, December 28, 2012

Where to begin with the 2013 goals..... instead of weight or BMI goals, I'm going to set my activity goals which I can meet each week and eventually put me in great shape -- body and mind.

* Exercise cardio at least 3x a week for 30 min.
* Weight training 3x week minimum 30 min.
* Eat healthy and incorporate raw foods. 5x fruits/veg a day minimum.
* Practice yoga 3x week.

Of course there needs to be a couple longer terms goals so I plan on entering at least two events this coming year. I know it doesn't sound like much and the events are rather short, but they are big goals for me since I've never done anything like this:

1) The Color Run™ 5k in June (my daughter's idea - God help me.)

2) STOMP Bicycle Adventure 30 Miles on Sept. 1 (I did the 20 miles in the past - lots of hills)

Maybe I'll do more, but these are my definite goals. I have been able to maintain fitness in the past, so getting back on track can be done. I'm so excited to get there too!

Whew emoticon Christmas is over and the eating has stopped....thank God! This was a rough holiday with very little in the way of healthy choices at the table. I'm so ready to kick start the new year. There will be no waiting unitl January 1 -- it starts today!

This year will be fun. My 17 yr old daughter has just joined a gym with her best friend and they are training for their first 5k this summer. It will be so much easier to have two of us in the house working on a healthier life style at the same time. I'm so excited!

Put the roughness behind you. We all have times where we don't do so well. You are making a positive restart and you WILL be successful. It is great to have a fitness buddy isn't it?

This has been a bad work week. No matter how much I try to stay calm, someone at work just sets me off by making stupid decisions or no decisions at all. Maybe it's the holiday season (which I didn't think was getting to me.) To make matters worse, it's tough to find time to exercise. I wish Friday would come faster so that I had time to get in a solid workout and relieve this stress!

Anyone else feeling on edge??? emoticon

What happened..????

Monday, December 17, 2012

So I started my adventure to better health a few weeks ago happy that I was going into the holiday season which is normally a quiet time for me.... a season where I have more time on my hands because my family is rather small. Still, I managed to fill my weekend with the theatre, holiday events, and shopping with no time to work out! So... being Monday it's a good time to start over.....

No. I now have three dinners booked for the week right after work and still have shopping to do! What the heck! Where is my free time :(

What is everyone else doing to get in some good exercise time?
