You need to eat 4-6 times a day every two or 3 hours you are up. If you eat three medium sized meals have pre planned snacks handy. This is what I snack on...

Pork skins (high protein), fruit (apples, strawberries and grapes mostly some pineapple and watermelon on occasion), Veggies- celery and carrots I also like raw cucumbers, broccoli and cauliflower.

Drink lots of water it helps you feel full. Also if you like it drink coffee. Caffeine is a natural appetite suppressant and there are a lot of studies that say a little coffee everyday is good for you.

Hope this helps

I agree with all the comments below.

Here are some things that I do when I feel hungry, but it's not time for a meal:

A. Drink water.
B. Chew sugar-free gum.
C. Eat a serving of fruit and/or vegetable.
D. Get up and move. Find something to take my mind off food.

I like that you are asking these questions because you are learning, and that's what this journey is all about. Just know, that from time to time, you'll give in, but whatever you do, don't give up. Get back on track with the next meal. Find what works for you!

Are you getting a lot of fiber in your diet? Sometimes incorporating some higher fiber foods into your diet will help with giving you a more satisfied feeling. Also, I have heard that diet sodas actually work against us by increasing our feelings of hunger.

Since starting Sparkpeople, I have only drank water every day (only on a few rare circumstances have I had an unsweet glass of tea). I drink approx. 12 cups (two 1.5 liter bottles) most days and I am drinking on it ALL day. I actually eat my three main meals, plus 3 snacks...I try to space them out at pretty regular intervals since I am diabetic. Here is the schedule I follow...

breakfast 7:30 to 8:00
mid morning snack 11:00 (right after a walk)
lunch 1:00
afternoon snack 4:00 to 4:30
dinner 6 to 7
bedtime snack 9:15

I hope this helps!!! Send me a Sparkmail if you have any other questions I might be able to help you with!!!

Hang in there! You CAN do this!!!

I find if I keep myself busy, I tend to eat less. That works most of the time because I just don't think about eating.

I always have fruit and water close by.
Many times a few mouthful's of water will still those cravings.
Otherwise I stock my desk with fruit every Monday so there is no reason for me to head for the chocolate machine.

However sometimes you just have to give in. I don't believe it is good to deprive yourself of Everything ALL the time.
My secret vice is mini babybels...I allow myself one from time to time which means I keep away from total breakdown and binge.

Overdosed on sugar free candy and coke zero's :(

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

I have been having some stomach pain today and after reviewing what I have been eating and drinking, I believe I have consumed way to much sugar free candy and coke zero's. I know they are bad for you, but it helps curb my appitite for sodas and candy. I have been eating better and going to to them gym but the whole hunger thing isnt going away. Some days it doesnt bother me and others I just feel hungry all day. I have tried many different things, snack throughout the day, 3 big meals and other things. I have healthy snacks like popcorn, rice cakes etc. I am eating enough calories. I really do believe is a mental thing but my stomach FEELS hungry but when I cave in at the end of the day I eat to many calories....Maybe I will try baby steps everyweek and try to stay away from the sugar free candy and coke zero's

Any tips or tricks?

Mini update

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Its funny to look back at my blogs, I forget about what I write. I think weekly Im going to make myself go back and reread my blogs so I that reminder.

Currently at 278, I still want to meet my goal of 250 by dec 11th. I haven seen 250 in many years, sadly. I went to bed late last night and slept in this morning which irritated me because I missed the gym. I also think Im getting bored doing the same thing everyday, so Im going to work on changing it up somehow. I feel like overall I have been doig good and of course it could always be better. I eat alot of gum and sugar free candy to control my eating, I know it isnt good, but it seems to help, hoping I can not need those soon enough.

Well here are my random thoughts for this tuesday morning.

Have a good week emoticon

Also try yoga and zumba/dancing for cardio. SRBROWN2's suggestions are right on. I like coffee and it helps me from snacking too much!

It's ok to sleep in every now and then. Sometimes, it's what your body needs most, so try not to be too mad at yourself.

I started out in the gym, and after awhile, I hated it. I couldn't make myself go any long, so I had to find something else to do. I started walking, and now, I am jogging. So, that might be an idea. Also, Body Rock (bodyrock.tv) is a great (free!) website full of workouts. It's circuit training (cardio and ST together) in just 12 minutes a day. I promise you'll be tired! :) Also, ToneItUp.com is another great website to look at. Lastly, Pinterest and SP tend to have great workouts and ideas for workouts that you can do. Just find something you enjoy. You don't have to be great at it. Just try!

As for controlling your eating, what about fruits and vegetables? Also, air popped popcorn is a great snack too!

One bad decision that led to many more in 3 days

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

On Friday I was invited to go out to a chinese buffett. I thought I will only eat a salad, Im always hard on myself because I am not good at portion control. But then I thought you know what you deserve it just go for it. Well my hunger shot up since the days that followed, fast food was my answer I felt almost sick if I couldnt eat. This happened for 3 days, I also gained 6 lbs. Im really disappointed in myself. No excuses. Im following my path with what always happens. I wish I was better at portion control, but once i get that little taste, i want more and more! Remaining positive and moving forward

I stay away from buffetts because there's too much food in one place! MIPALADY23 is right about portions. Tiny ones if you go to the buffett. I WAS a fast food junkie. I know exactly where you are. Hang in there!

You can get back on track. What is done is done. Drink water and get your exercise in and get back at it. We ALL go through this!

Baby steps..don't deprive yourselft. GO to the buffett occasionally but tiny one bite portions of items. Unbreaded items...vegi's and less saucy items.

Keep up the great work!!!
