getting back

Thursday, October 08, 2009

I am slowly getting back on track from taking a week off to visit family. I didn't think it effected me but I have been going strong since returning and haven't gotten back into the healthy lifestyle we had before going.

We returned late Sat eve, worked all day Sun and went to the gym on Monday eve after half day work but felt really tired. Tues was non stop starting at 6:30 am to about 11 at night - Wed after work - hubby wanted to go to gym I said NO WAY!, I am so tired and ended up going to bed at 9pm. AH! woke up refreshed knowing I had the whole day off.

So today I did laundry(a whole weeks worth), rode bikes to the gym and only 20 min on elliptical and 15 on treadmill - rode past all the eating places that sounded so good - we even talked about going back - but No - we ate healthy at home. So I am feeling rested and on track again.

I have had some slight binges this week but feel like that is over. I don't know why I just couldn't stay on track after being off a week. I really didn't do so bad with eating choices while gone - but didn't track calories so I know I was over but I also know that I could have done a lot worse since choices were good.

So done with that and back on track once again... emoticon

You have your plan worked out from the sound of it. Getting back on track after taking a few days off can be difficult, but soon you won't be doing that either. If you really work at it you will make the lifestyle changes and then it won't be a track to get back into! *S*

no gain

Monday, October 05, 2009

When I got up this morning - I weighed - my scales, normal morning time. I did NOT gain 2 lbs - I am right where I started the vacation with. No gain - no loss. I am a happy camper... emoticon

I worked today - ready for bed tonight - back at the normal routine - start back at the exercise tomorrow...

end of a great week

Friday, October 02, 2009

Coming to the end of a great week.
I have not been able to track a calorie - did well the beginning of the week, then... I either didn't have time to or couldn't get online due to slooooooooooow connection. I kept track of fruits & veggies and water at times but could not begin to know how to track calories on things I didn't fix... Birthday cake, party food, etc. I got on the scales at my Mom's and gained 2 lbs this week. We'll see what my scales say when I get home. I am not too worried about it - I will get back on the exercise and within calorie range when I get back home. I fly out on Saturday and then it is back to normal healthy living again.

It has been a good week with family and I wouldn't trade it. I did surprise my Mom on her 80th birthday. My brother planned a cook out with other family there - she was not expecting me since I live in California and she in Indiana. I walked in asking where she wanted me to put the birthday cake - she stared at me in wonderment, then said well!..., then she started crying... It had been over a year since I was home last.

We also surprised our in-laws since no one but one of my brothers and my daughter knew I was coming. We had a great time with Grandkids and I saw all of my brothers.

1st Surprise

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Gpa, Micah, Becca, Gma, Daniel at the st Louis Zoo

I started my day Sunday 12:00 AM finally boarding a plane from San Francisco to St Louis with a connection in Dallas. Got a little sleep on the planes. Arrived STL at 9:45 AM - - FIRST SURPRISE OF OUR VISIT - our Grandkids didn't know we were coming for a visit - gr daughter Becca has been missing us so bad - - - daughter decided to surprise the kids. She told them they had a surprise on Sunday. they started to go to the zoo and took a wrong turn and ended up at the airport looking for directions emoticon I came face to face with Becca on the steps and it took her a minute to recognize me and she called Grama. I asked her about not knowing it was me - and she said you look different. I haven't been back home to see them since losing most of my weight so far... That made me feel good that it was noticeable to my 5 yr old Granddaughter... emoticon
So we spent the morning/afternoon at the Zoo and had a grand and tiring time - home for a short while and then off to Becca's soccer practice - then back home and sill not sleep yet - I am really feeling it as I type and check emails.

So day 1 of not checking calories but I feel I have made good choices - - - I did get lots of walking in at the zoo and it was so hot - got lots of water...

By the end of the day the 20 month old grandson got warmed up to me well - so all is well and I am ready for bed... emoticon

Grandchildren

Grandchildren

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, "But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!" I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye...

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 62.. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?'' "You're both old," he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. "What's it about?" he asked. "I don't know," she replied. "I can't read.."

7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct.. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these,
yourself!

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights."

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised, "mine says I'm 4 to 6."

10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool "That's interesting," she said, "how do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."

11 Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child."

12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one child. "No," said another. "He's just for good luck." A third child brought the argument to a close."They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants."

13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. "Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her.. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport."

14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him!

15. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over; you hear gas leaks, and they blame their dog.
