Consistency Tour begins today...Day 1

Tuesday, October 01, 2013

They say the definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. I am giving up on "crazy" and starting a new way of thinking. After reading many Spark blogs and success stories I noticed they all had one thing in common. Once they became consistent with exercise and tracking they success followed.

I am great for giving advice and being able to motivate people but some how it never translates to my own life. I read a blog last night where the person said she was afraid of success and that she read all kinds of articles and blogs on health, diet, fitness, wellness, etc. but she never did anything with the information because she was afraid of succeeding. That was my "aha" moment.

So today it begins, Consistency with exercise be it 10, 20, or 30 minutes it will be everyday.

See you tomorrow.

I love the spark philosophy of just 20 minutes a day...I tell myself every tired day, well I can do 20 minutes....and almost every day when I hit that 20 minute mark, I just keep going. You can totally do this! The only crazy you'll be is CRAZY GOOD!!!

I'm rooting for ya!!

I stopped by your blog because of the title. I, too, have pledged to make October a consistent month. Thanks for the affirmation.

The price of healthy food

Saturday, September 07, 2013

It occurred to me today as I was grocery shopping how we view the price of food. You often hear people say it is too expensive to eat healthy. I was thinking this as I picked up a bag of grapes that ended up costing over $4.00. Then I thought I wouldn't think anything about $5.00 for ice cream or $20.00 for a pizza. And in the end what is the real cost of junk/convenience food.

You will definitely pay for more for these items in the end with your health, with a lack of energy and lack of well being.

Next time you want to buy fruit or vegetables think would you question the price of the junk fo emoticon od?

So very true. How often I've gone thru fast food drive thru and not even thought for a minute. Although that attitude is changing now that I'm eating healthier. I love buying especially at local farmer's markets but definitely have to shop around. Thanks for sharing.

Now that is the way to put it into perspective! I rarely look at the price of my fruit, apples, nectarines and oranges, which are the basics because I have to have them.
Thanks for that reminder on how much the other junk costs!

Changes

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

My office moved to a new location about 5 years ago. Today was the 1st time that I took advantage of the beautiful park right down the road. For lunch instead of moving from my desk where I sit all day into the cafeteria to sit for another hour I went to the park and walked for lunch. If felt great. Enjoyed the peace and quiet time. Took in all the sights. Watched the ducks and geese in lake. The stress of the morning seemed to disappear and I had a new energy for the rest of day. I did not feel the dreaded 2 or 3 pm slump as it did not appear today.

That's great that you went exploring. I'm with you as we had a really nice waterfront close by at one of my old jobs, and I didn't bother to go until I took up walking. That walking years ago was nothing compared to now walks though. So, you'll be exploring close by parks and keeping extra walking shoes in the car from now?

Peanut Butter my frenemy

Sunday, August 11, 2013

I have a love, hate relationship with peanut butter. I love it straight out of the jar on a spoon, on bread, celery you name it I love it. I hate that I cannot control it. Once I start with it on the spoon I cannot stop. I hate the amount of calories but love that it fills me up and keeps me satisfied. I love it;s creamy texture and sweet and salty taste. I hate that it knows my name and regularly calls to me from the cabinet.

Oh peanut butter....my friend...my foe. Someday I will no longer hear you. I will control you and not you me. emoticon

Hump day

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

Wednesday, middle of the week, Got up started making excuses not to work out. Had already logged my work out and planned my food accordingly. Then I gave myself a pass not to work out this morning with the intention that I would do it tonight after work. I already knew that would not happen either. And then......I watched a SP success story showing multiple people with over 100lb weight loss. Seeing that 2 minute video, seeing the results the people achieved inspired me to pry my butt from the couch and get the work out done. I even added an additional exercise that was not planned.

So here I sit writing this post after completing my work out and feeling great. It is true what they say, no one ever says boy I wish I hadn't worked out, I wish I had not accomplished a goal. Now the day can proceed without another thought about my work out or how I am going to get out of it.

Thank you SP emoticon emoticon emoticon
