End of May

Monday, May 30, 2011

May has been a pretty good month overall. I finally got out of my aircast, I've been getting lots of time on the treadmill desk, I've exercised every day, and I lost some weight. What more could I ask! Today I did a ten mile jog/walk - or at least it started out to be that. I did 3min jogging and 1 minute walking for the first half of the route and was ahead of my planned time at the turn around point. Unfortunately, the outbound part of the route is mostly gradually downhill, which means coming back is uphill. Between that and my recent lack of running, I ended up walking most of the way back, but I still got the 10 miles in.

So, tomorrow I'm back to work. I just found out I'm getting a new state added to my responsibilities. Up to now, all of my responsibilities have been in the west - CO, UT, WA, OR, AK, HI, etc. As of Wednesday I'm picking up CT. This is going to be interesting since being in AZ means I'll have a 3 hour time difference to deal with when talking to my case managers or the facilities there. I'm always up for a challenge, though!

Have a great week!

Great job on the fitness, Keith and an awesome way to close out the month. Here's hoping that the change in your job assignment doesn't throw too much of a wrench into your schedule!

Recap Week 4 and a visitor (pic)

Sunday, May 29, 2011

First of all, the weigh in went well - down to 179.6, so I've lost 10 of the pounds I had regained. Another 6 or so to go to get back to where I was, and then another 6 to get to my goal.

The result was achieved by staying within my calorie range everyday except yesterday, when I was a couple hundred calories high. This was combined with getting in a lot of time on the treadmill desk - 19 hours over the week. I'm going for at least 20 this next week!

I ran the Arizona Road Racers' Summer Series #1 5K yesterday. This was my first real run since getting out of my air cast and using my orthotics. It went pretty well. The foot didn't hurt too much, and I completed the run in 32:20. This gives me hope that I will be able to run a sub-30 minute one this summer. There are five events in the summer series - four 5Ks and one 4 miler (on July 4th). So I'll have several opportunities to get under the 30 minute mark.

Finally, I thought I would show you this little fellow who was kind enough to pay us a visit. He was on the door frame of the side door into the garage. Scooped him up and put him in the wash behind the house, so hopefully he won't be back.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

So glad to hear that you are on the mend and doing well...that sub 30 is our this summer! As for your little house guest, well, he can be ALL YOURS! His fate would not have been so kind if he had paid me a visit!

Wow, you are really doing well. Way to recover from your setback! I am glad you had a good race and your feet did not hurt. My 7 y.o. son saw the photo of your visitor and he is jealous. emoticon

End of week 3

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I've been back in the game for three weeks now, and things continue to go well. I'm getting in all my workouts (I hit 880 days in a row yesterday without missing a workout), and I'm staying on the eating plan (not diet). As a result, I lost another pound this week!

I got my orthotics on Friday, so today I plan to do a swim and then try doing a little bit of jogging/walking to see what they feel like when I run. I've been wearing them for walking and they seem to be fine, so now for the big test.

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

A look at Arizona

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

A friend sent me this link to some great pictures of Arizona. Thought some of you who have never been here might be interested.

Things continue to go well on the new plan. Got another 5 hours on the TD today, for a total of 12 miles and over 1000 calories burned. I'm still staying within my calorie limits, so I hope to have another good weigh in on Sunday.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

End of Week Two

Sunday, May 15, 2011

I've completed two weeks on the new plan, and things continue to go well. I was down 2 pounds this week, which is right where I want to be. I ate within my calorie range every day, and got in some great workouts. If I can continue like this, I will be really pleased. And I know I can do it! If I can do two weeks, why not three, right? So on to another successful week! Have a great one!
