I got the first 4 dogs to the groomers first thing this morning, and then went to the YMCA. I swam a total of 1500 yards as planned, much of it in 150 yard intervals with short rest breaks. I also did a couple of 200 yd intervals. Then I changed and got on the treadmill. The first 2 miles went well doing a comfortable jog. However, I had to walk most of the next 2 miles. Just didn't have the energy to push it any faster. Still got my 4 miles in, though, so that was OK. As I was getting out of the shower, the groomer called to say the dogs were ready, so the timing was pretty much perfect. I went and did some shopping and had lunch with my wife, then took what was left of the afternoon fairly easy.
Tomorrow morning I'm planning a bike ride with a group in an unfamiliar part of town, so that should be fun.
Have a great Sunday!

I have all kinds of things planned for my days off, but the part I'm most looking forward to are the workouts I have planned. Hard to believe that would be the case, but there you are! Tomorrow I have a swim followed by a run. I'm hoping to do at least 1200 yards for the swim, trying to do 150 yard intervals. The run will depend on how I feel after the swim, but should be at least 4 miles.
On Sunday I'm going to go out with the Kokopedalli group again for a 20 - 30 mile bike ride. This one is supposed to be "moderately" paced. Not sure exactly what that means, but we'll see.
Monday is an active rest day - I have a strength workout planned.
Tuesday is my swim lesson and another run.
Wednesday is a bike ride on my own. I need to plan out a route that will allow me to get a reasonable distance and speed without having to worry about a lot of lights or traffic.
Thursday is another swim lesson and a strength workout.
Friday is an easy run
Next Saturday is another run and swim.
And next Sunday is another bike ride.
So, that's the workout plan for the week. Around that I'll need to fit in getting all the dogs to the groomers, a couple of doctor appointments, getting a hitch and a bike rack put on my car, and getting a number of other projects done around the house. Should keep me out of trouble!
Have a great weekend!

Two significant numbers for me today. The 600 comes from the fact that I went over the 600 day mark for not having missed a workout on a single day. It has become a bedrock foundation of my life that every morning I get up, look after the dogs, and go do my workout. Never any question. The 31 is the number of days until my first triathlon. This one seems a little odd to me, and it might not have been the best one to chose to do first. In this event, everyone swims 150 yards, bikes 4 miles, and run 0.75 miles, and then you go back and do them all again! At least I'll get some extra practice on the transitions!
Have a great Friday!

I've been accumulating a list of things to do next week. I'm going to try and fit some longer workouts in around all the household chores, doctor's appointments, and getting all of the dogs to the groomers. I also need to get a hitch put on my car so that I can install a bike rack, and I'm going to take my bike in and have the fit adjusted. So, between everything I'm going to be kept running! Not much of a rest, but I'll be accomplishing a lot of things I have been wanting to do.
Have a good rest of the week!

My workout this morning went well. I only did a 20 minute, 2 mile, run because I had to stop on time for my swim lesson. The lesson was also good. The instructor has me working on keeping my head down and rotating properly to breathe, but she says my kick is good. We are trying to build my efficiency and stamina so that I can extend the length of time I can swim without having to rest. Today I was working on 75 yard intervals mostly, but I also got in a couple of 100s and one 150 yard one. I'm fairly confident I'll be doing enough distance for the event in November. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the shorter events I have signed up for just to practice doing all three together and getting the transitions down. Tomorrow I'm supposed to do a bike ride in the morning, but it is pouring rain right now, so we'll see what it is like. I might have to substitute in a run, and do the additional bike ride on the weekend if the weather is not cooperating.
I hope everyone had a good Tuesday, and have a great hump day tomorrow!
