Strategy For Staying On Course During BLC Break

Weekend challenge was to blog about how we play to keep on course while we are on break with BLC New Challenge starts some time in September.

For one thing I have many other team challenges happening the biggest one is with Spark team At Goal and Maintaining - Columbus Day Maintenance Challenge which will take me from July 23rd until Columbus Day by that time we will be well into BLC20 round.

Initially I was going to sit out the Columbus Day challenge as I have more weight to lose per the new PCP , as my great & awesome emoticon's stated this could be the push that I need ot get losing again and if nothing else keep me accountable So I joined in on the challenge.

I was able to join up with SAC 3 (SEASONAL ACCOUNTABILITY CHALLENGE 3) (BLC) joined as a single I have no idea of who will be my team mates but I'll get to make new emoticon's

That is my plan for the next few weeks until BLC20 begins

For BLC 20 goal is to lose give or take about 12 pounds to get me to the 135 pounds that my PCP wants me to be at Still trying to figure out to go to a different team or not I love the team I have been on since BLC17 just like your favorite old pair of jeans that you are so comfortable in and are just able to be YOU! There is a flip side to that as we all know we can become to comfortable for our own good. Sometimes it is time to break out of our safety net and explore on to new territory. It maybe time to get out of the box and try something new to challenge me further I like my box its VERY SAFE With The PANTHERS. I have time to decide.

Today Mom & myself went ot weeki wachee to see the 65th anniversary mermaid show former and present mermaids fun day and great show.

Feeling A Tad Bit Under The Weather Right Now

Well its been a week for sure beginning of the week my Ra was kicking butt but the pass couple of days its been a killer tooth ache The tooth broke about 10 days ago now I'm feeling it.

Wednesday I stopped in to the dentist just ot check them out that i have listed for my provider got an immediate appointment Had full xrays done He (the dentist ) agreed that all my teeth need to come out. I'm waiting now for paper work to come in from my 401K to take money out for medical hardship need 6 grand to have all the work done. Once I have the money from the 401 I'll start the procedure.

I was reading when I 1st was diagnosed with RA that in some cases root canal work was the cause of some people RA. The last root canal that I had done was so many complications having all my teeth removed may help with the RA. I know the RA has caused a great deal of inflammation and infection in my mouth.

Last year in May I ended up in the ER due to a tooth that fell out not just any tooth but one that I had root canal work done on it I've been trying to figure out since then how to get the money for the dentist I really did not want to go into my 401 but one has to do what one has to do. Mom sister Marie (56 yrs old) who died in January was from complications due to a bad tooth.

If all goes as planned it will be a total of 25 teeth removed Some time in August I should have my new teeth emoticon Should then at least be pain free dental wise. I'll be able to eat again without pain and the worry of cracking a tooth.

This weekend was a bust on any exercise did feel up to it. Didn't get much of a workout the whole week either Hopefully this week I will feel more up to it.

Side notes

I am now working on getting vision coverage from the same place as the dental insurance.

Tyson is doing better after last weeks visit to the vet he was there 2 weeks in a row for different things 1st time skin allergies we have to bath him weekly with special shampoo 2nd was his anal glands.

I think I need a new battery once again for my crazy scale just playing head games with me doesn't give the same weight reading twice I can step on it 50 times and I'm getting 50 different readings emoticon so frustrating.

I am sure though that I did at least lose 2 pounds during the month of June now to lose another 2 this month I am going easy for this month 3 cardio sessions a week and goal to drop 2 pounds in July.

    I didn't know RA could cause problems with our teeth. I have all kinds of troubles. I can't find a dentist to pull all my teeth. They want to do expensive bridges, root canals, and caps. I don't have that kind of money either. I feel so bad you have to go into your 401k. It seems everybody is having the crunch factor in their finances. These are such hard times for many people. I hope you get well soon. I will say a little prayer for you. Take care.

    Which is why good ol' measuring tape is more reliable than scale, hehe. Unless someone makes a prank by adding or cutting some inches off the tape LOL

    wow. Teeth can be a horrible problem. I"m blessed only to have average problems with mine...all my health problems are in other places! I hope you get well soon and can put it all behind you. Good that you had that 401k to lean on!

    I'm glad the teeth are getting fixed. I know this has been a problem for you. It could make you feel better. I have a friend who had a stroke from bad teeth (got an infection and it spread to her body.) Take care of yourself. The other stuff will take care of itself.

    I'm sure thinking of you lots with your dental challenges coming up. What a great relief that will be for you! I just read where a dentist tells all her patients to swish with peroxide 1-2 minutes after brushing morning and night. This helps keep the germs away with gingivitis, peridontal disease, etc. I know that I sure have alot of receding in my gums, so when I read this, I thought I'd give it a try. Now I'm thinking that you might want to try it too, because you don't want to have any infection in your gums for your new teeth and for taking care of your gums afterwards too. Just a thought that it could help you. Oh, we want you to be without a whole lot less pain!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

New Game Plan For Continued Weight Loss

Had to make some changes in my action plan as I'm back in the game to lose those last few pounds 15 to 20 pounds. Plan is to weigh down the road at 135 with my clothes on That's how doctor office weighs me in, clothes weigh about 2 to 3 pounds.

Had been focusing on strength training as I wanted to reduce body fat % and was no longer worried about pounds. Cardio is the only thing that brings the scale down for me. With that said strength training will be 2 days a week Sunday & Thursdays . Have my exercises planed out for which gym I will be at - will be a total body workout. Cardio will be Sunday Tuesday Wednesday, & Thursday and if I can squeeze a cardio session in either on Monday or Friday I will jump at the chance to do so.

Seems reasonable I don't go back to the doctors until December 12th I should be at least 10 pounds light if not at goal weight. I'm off to a good start so far I'm at 147.6 to 149.6 ( was 150.8 to 152) with out and with clothes. Right now as my work hours have been cut I do have more time to squeeze in more workout.

I'm sticking with my maintenance teams as its not a big weight difference from my goal range weight.

I have been weighing & measuring & tracking all of my foods Sunday being a rest day from logging my foods.

This is my plan to get me to 135 then I'm sure I'll be tweaking it once again.

    I'm so thankful for spark people's trackers. They can help you see what works and what doesn't. Since you've figured out what works for you, do it and make it happen. You'll be at your goal weight sooner rather than later. emoticon

Results Are In From Primary Care Doctor - Not Sure As To What I Now Do

Today was my follow up with the primary care doctor I'm in great health except for the weight issue (I thought I had that licked emoticon) and Rheumatoid Factor levels still very high.

Lets cut to the chase Mammogram this year normal for me emoticon Nothing of concern. Lab work (I'm dreading that bill I went on line and saw what they billed the insurance company) Total Cholesterol 169 ( Good Less than 200 ) LDL 92 (Best below 100) HDL 62 ( Best over 60) Somehow I didn't get my Triglyceride levels Fasting glucose was 78 blood pressure today was 118/70 That is all great and I don't have to go back for 6 months though doctor is concerned still with my weight she wants me down to 135 and my Rheumatoid Factor levels are still very high she is amazed that I'm not in constant pain.

On my weight I picked my goal weight without the former doctor input I used the guide lines from when I was in the USAF back then for my height and age they allowed me to be no higher then 136 so I added a few pounds to it for my age now. Well not where she (the doctor wants me to be) So I thought I was within range and at goal.

She also gave me a Arthritis diet plan funny part is the foods listed as to avoid are things that really does irritate my RA Pizza cookies white potato processed foods and of course I do have more pain when I feast on fast foods that part I'm on the same page as she is.

My dilemma lies in if I should leave SP teams that I am part of " at goal and maintaining" or just stay with the groups and move forward to lose those extra 15 to 20 pounds If I stay I feel like I'm cheating; as I'm not at the weight the doctor feels I should be. Range then would be 130 to 140 My home scale first thing in morning wearing nothing but my birthday suit is 149.2 emoticon Mine as well say 10 pounds away from the high end of range. What's a girl to do? What a predicament to be in and I thought I was doing so well emoticon Man I don't want to be cheating! Any input would be greatly appreciated

    I feel the same way as Lizzy. I am also not at goal and on the same team! It can help to have both maintainers and losers since both sides can be reminded daily that this journey does not end!

    I have this same feeling about the Den, I am almost 15 pounds over my goal and I haven't been at my goal weight for over 2 years. I was very surprised when I was put on that team. Let me tell you the conclusion I came to.
If these teams suites your needs then stay! If you need an extra push to do the weight loss and you aren't getting that from your teammates then, yes leave them. At least temporarily. There is nothing wrong with doing either. You'll need to set your goals and have people that are able to support you in those goals. It doesn't really matter what the team name is.

    Stay where you are. If you are uncomfortable at the weight you are, by all means, try to lose a little more. But if you are satisfied with your weight, keep maintaining! No one, not even the doctor's can say what is right weight for you! :)

    Stay with your teams and keep your friends.
I was just curious as to how tall you are, because I'm surprised the doctor is so adamant about you losing more weight. Oh the positive side, she has real confidence in you to set the new goal - I'm sure she was thrilled with your efforts before (if not, she should give you credit and praise for all you HAVE done!)

    I say stay with your teams. I have my goal here of 155. I would love to be 150, but either way I am ok. You aren't cheating. You put in the goal that you wanted to be at the time, and hit it. Congratulate yourself, you are doing great.

    Your test results are great, showing you to be in pretty good health, overall. I agree with the others. You set your goal and were operating within that goal. No one else would accuse you of cheating. I also have changed my goal weight at least twice since I started. Besides, we want you to stay with us. emoticon

    Your team weight goal can always be adjusted. The journey is yours.
You know you are loved in the Den but you can always move to another team next round if you feel it will fit you better. You can be on a maintenance team and still have room to lose.
You will know what to do!

    My opinion is to stay with "At goal and maintaining" because it's about the mindset, not the scale. You are "maintaining" your way a little lower, that's all.

    Stay in your teams. You hit your goal, you've been maintaining your goal. Now, on new advice you have a new goal. Cool. Head for the new goal by ramping up your activities and/or dropping some calories, but don't leave your friends. :D

    I say, stay with the team! You were at the goal you set for yourself--you just have a new goal now. I lowered my goal weight three times before I discovered/joined the maintenance team. You'll be "maintaining for reals" before you know it! emoticon
