Wow 50 Is this what it is all about?

So this is what 50 is all about well I don't feel any different I'm not sure if I really would feel different of not but I was expecting more or different. When I turned 25 I was so depressed you know being a 1/4 of a century old but this time its a 1/2 century old and its no big deal . For sure I thought I would have been crying in my Rootbeer emoticon.

My goal was to be fit and healthy by 50 On the negative the scale well we have a love hate relationship going on it hasn't budged much at all. I'm still waiting for the doctor to get back to me on my lab work guess no news is good news since I went ot the lab on November 24th. Today I did the mammogram bone destiny and chest x-rays.

A word on the mammogram the 1st I did one back about 10 years ago I thought I was going ot die it hurt like a mother. New technology for the mammogram was much nicer easier on the body did not hurt at all I was putting this off because of how painful it was years ago. If anyone has a fear its a piece of cake now.

Next month I will get my pap done and a EKG. With medical out of the way time to look back and see how much healthier and fitter I am.

Yup I am more fit still have a long way to go. I have added salads to my diet (though still not enough of them) took me time to find a salad dressing I like I have 2 now. I have been eating real fish and not just canned tuna fish or fish sticks. Its now Tilapia and frozen fish fillets, still have improvements but hey its a start isn't it? I eat whole grain breads, do canola & light mayo, eat less fast foods, drink either almond milk or soy milk, 2% cheeses, drinking more H2O , I love peanut butter OMG how I hated it when I was a child. These are simple changes I have made so far and yes my journey is no where near.

I exercise regularly either workout at home or I go to the gym. Then when I choice of foods is before me I try my best to pick the best food thanks to SP Food Show down emails my favorite feature its very helpful.

So in a way I guess made I did make my goal fit by fifty as its a never ending journey. I have had very few flare up with my RA this past year, so that is awesome and I feel really good. Once I get my lab results and test results I will post to keep everyone updated on my progress here.

I may not look the way that I was hoping for 50 but that's okay too

  Sounds like you've made significant changes.... when I was 50...I decided it was time to be "fabulous"..... still working at it at 55! It's a journey for sure...enjoy it.

Oh how as a child this was an awesome time of year. Reflecting back to days long ago and missing them. Winter / Christmas was our favorite time of year the things we did as a family.

When grandpa Wright was still alive he and grandma always had a house full of family we all get together with Aunts uncles cousins etc Grandpa favorite records back then was the Mitch MIller Sing a long christmas & holiday songs albums ( now have them on CD) anyway we all be together sing the songs laughing because we messed up 12 days of Christmas or I saw Mommy kissing santa claus or Rudolph the red nose reindeer There would be lots of food and fun for weeks before christmas. Family was so close to one another back then. All that stopped when grandpa past away in the 70's

The other fun memory that I have every year Dad would load us up in the cars and drive around the island to see all the homes decorated for christmas Uniondale was one of the biggest homes to decorate real pretty news paper and news show would air their home each year. When I was in Colorado with family we loaded up 2 car full to check out the christmas light in Denver Then I did it once down here in Florida just not the same here in the extremely hot weather to look at christmas light. Can not get use to santa in a bathing suit emoticon


Those were the days holidays were totally awesome back then not so much now but very fond memories

    Memories are often full of light and fond memories. When we do this as adults, it isn't nearly as magic unless we are making the magic happen for our little ones. Don't do lights unless the grands are along. It is just not the same without them.

    As an adult I have lost that enthusiasm children have for Christmas. It is soooo much work. Christmas has lost its true meaning. I too have fond memories of Christmas and I guess all that work is to make those memories for my kids too.

If its not one thing its something else

I can never say I have boring life that is for sure its always something going on. This morning I had to call off from work let me back up a bit last night when I got out of shower I notice the wall had some water line on it now I wasn't sure if it was from the shower or a leak so I marked how high the line was went ot bed 5Am well I was rudely awaken yup it was a leak in the utility room. Now we are taking the panel off the wall to get ot pipes no not there Looked up a tad bit realized where the washer used to be hooked up got turned on just a bit to make a mess.

Saturday was a day my brother was cutting down a dead tree in the back yard well yeah you guessed part of tree hit the house. Seems okay we will know when it rains if it is okay or not.

Made a horrible loud noise coming down shook the house something fierce. I run out yell what the hell happened they yelled back at me what do you think happened. WEnt to work my RA kicked butt due to the stress.

Today I took my mother to the doctor I started to use found out through a test she has COPD top it off when doctor looked in her ears found something in the right one appears a qtip she used broke off in ear canal appeared to be bloody.

So if its not one thing its something else, I have to take her back to doctor next week

But on a better note I did get to make copies of mind over body blog I did with all of the related articles so I can begin my work on that.

    Wow! Perhaps you should have gone back to bed. I hate it when a lot of difficult stuff happens at one. It does kick up the stress levels and the arthritis hates that.

Hope all goes better. It is sad when you aren't even washing clothes and the washer leaks.

Hope tomorrow/next month is better.

Mind Over Body 10 step program

Mind Over Body 10 step program article by coach Dean "10 steps to achieve a healthy lifestyle" I forgot about this until today a team member mentioned it in a post of theirs. Time to reflect back to it was going to put in my favorites but no way to do that so this is the best I can do with it right.

To fully get back on track I really need to be working on each of these 10 steps for the coming months for a truly successful year put away the diet mentality once and for all I have been doing fairly well with this notion.

lets break down : 5 common problems most of us suffer from
1 inadequate problem-solving skills : For me knowing what the problem is and being able to solve not always so easy when it comes to my personal life - there are times my emotion get in the way of being able to solve the problem

2 unrealistic expectations : This one I have a good grip on

3 toxic guilt & negative self-talk : sometimes a problem guilt for taking time for me go back to thinking I'm not worthy of any kind of self love etc.

4 emotional eating : my oh my I can not seem to get this one under control

5 lack of intrinsic motivation : this one I had to do some research on to understand - Intrinsic motivation basically is motivation created by interest or enjoyment in the task example love swimming will take the time to go for that swim if you really like doing it Through research found something called " Extrinsic motivation" this is outside sources to get you motivated money for doing a job or fear of punishment. Now I am very familiar with Extrinsic motivation

Coach Dean speaks about 2nd 5 steps is the shifting from Diet mode to Lifestyle

Examples diet I need to lose 10 pound in 6 weeks Lifestyle is no end date never ending its for the rest of your life. Diet you make drastic changes for immediate results Lifestyle slowly making behavior changes that stick Diet success by scale number Lifestyle general overall condition health weight emotional well being Diet results not long lasting Lifestyle results are for ever

under common mistakes I will be working on all of the 5 changing mind set all but I am on my way with these steps I do not measure my success solely by the scale that's good - I enjoy going to the gym and using my gazelle edge and just love going hiking to see nature I have been making small changes for the past couple of years (that will be blog in the near future of my success there) Staying focused on being FLEXIBLE on this journey.

Coach Dean list 10 Steps to Achieve a Healthy Lifestyle I will be focusing on for the rest of this year and 2011 which are:

1 Put the I in Your Weight Loss Plan
2 Take the stress out of weighing in
3 Tame your " toxic guilt" before it wipes out your will power
4 Tame your Emotional Eating Beast ( this one will be a hard one for me)
5 Take the mystery out of staying motivated.
6 Write your vision statement
7 Plot your strategy ( I would imagine this is goal setting of how to achieve problem solving part)
8 Give yourself a reality check-up ( yes I sometimes need to get real)
9 Pave the way for persistence (If @ 1st you don't succeed try try again)
10Learn from yourself (mistakes)

this will be a busy year by the sound of it

    Great ideas. I often need to look at what I want to do and how I plan to get there. While "dieting" sometimes is a necessity, it doesn't create lasting change. That is the thing I like about Spark. We are focusing on our lives.

OMG 1 month to go before my big day

Where has the time gone to? Time is just flying by too fastly for me. Exactly a month till I turn the big 50 Oh no can't be so; ah but it is so.

November I knew was gonna be a tough month with the holidays starting with Halloween. Though this month and next I am going to be easy on myself no sense in making me crazy there is no way under the stars that I will be down to 150 pounds I will be lucky if I can maintain where I am right now.

My November goals are to be nice to myself no fretting or stressing out I am finally getting to go to the doctor Found out how my health coverage is working even though I have a 3000 deductible they will pay 80% of routine and some lab test my next day off which will be on Wednesday I will be making my appointment found a doctor that isn't to expensive.

Continue to go to gym give myself permission to miss if need be - I don't do to well when I work from noon to 9 making it to gym or doing home workout. My eating is crappy those days as well.

Read 2 books this month as well I am on Oogy by Larry Levin a true story about a dog he & his family adopted that was used a s a bait dog for dog fighting a hard read as I keep crying.

Pretty much have routine down with the laundry mat this week I have to pay the new fee for using the county parks 60 bucks a year so that way I can enjoy my time with Tyson.

Once I see the doctor I will find out how healthy I am or not Though my cholesterol has always been good so not worried about that BP okay sugar I am worried about I will find out how much I weigh my home scales are off form the gym 1 scale weighs me in 5 pounds heavy and the other one almost pound less then what the gym scale had. I will see if I can get a correct height I know what I was when I enter the military many moons ago but I know that wasn't 100% right.

Well that is pretty much it for this the new month I will report back
