emoticonI am REALLY tired of the Wind!! I know that I am lucky that I don't have the low temperatures that some of you do, or the Snow and Ice. I do feel bad for those of you who are having to deal with that.
emoticonIt was almost 70 degrees here today, but because it was so windy, after work I decided to go to the Gym and ride the Recumbent Bike rather than fight the wind again. I got in 7.29 miles in 40 minutes.
emoticonGary had to work late, and when I got home, it was still daylight. So, I could not resist a quick 20 minute walk. Well, like my SparkFriend 2Kitties reminded me, at least the wind adds Strength Training to my Walks, LOL!!
emoticonWhen Gary got home, he had time to eat Dinner and then it was time to walk to 7-11. I think we were both kind of glad to make it a short walk tonight. And, to add insult to injury, they were out of Pears at the store!!! GRRR!!!!

Windy Walking & Shark Diving

emoticonIt is Funny how much I look forward to my Sunday Morning walks. It is hard to believe that I really do walk just because I enjoy it. Maybe something has changed in my DNA? I walked to 7-11 this morning to get Coffee before Church. I really think that I would walk even if the Coffee wasn't involved.
emoticonGary had gone Golfing, and I really planned on a Long Walk at the Park because the temperature was to be in the 60s today. Only problem was that the wind was blowing at almost 30 mph, making it seem A LOT colder than it really was. Plus it isn't any fun walking in it. We should get extra Spark Points or an Extra Calorie burn when the wind is that bad. I only walked 25 minutes in the Park, then decided that it would be Much More FUN to get my Nails done. So....Off to Wal-Mart I went!!
emoticonI got home in time to see most of an episode of "Tanked" on Animal Planet. If you aren't familiar with it, the program is about a Family in Las Vegas that builds custom Aquariums. They are beyond anything I could imagine, and I don't even want to think about what one would cost just to maintain. I haven't watched it a lot, but I have enjoyed the episodes I have seen. On the episode today they were in New York to build an aquarium for a Child. While they were there they got to go on a Shark Dive. They were in a Steel Cage surrounded by Full Grown Sharks!! I SO want to do that!! It is the Number One thing on my Bucket List!! I have No Idea why, but I think it would be FABULOUS!!

emoticonAfter Dinner, in spite of the wind, we walked to 7-11--a little over 2 miles. That gave me a total of 10, 997 steps with my Walks. I didn't quite make my Goal of 500 Calories Burned today, but it is a "Rest Day" so I am OK with that.

    Don't think that I will be swimming with the sharks during THIS lifetime...the #1 thing on MY bucket list...is to get rid of my BUCKET...as in rear end...haha...Take care & keep up the good work...

And walking in the snow should get extra points too! emoticon I would have totally opted for the nails too! I dislike walking in the wind! Also, your #1 on your bucket list has me in stitches! Not EVEN remotely on mine! hahaha You're SO brave!!!!!!! emoticon

    I have no desire to swim with the sharks. I guess I will have to live vicariously through you on that one. You must post and tell all once you do it. Pictures would be awesome. Congrats on getting your walk in despite the windy weather.

    The wind here is frequently pretty bad, and when it gets combined with our icy temperatures (-14F) it becomes just plain dangerous to be outside, skin freezes in seconds, which is why they give us windchill values too. I do miss being outside walking. So boring going around and around the small area in my building.
Keep up the fabulous work -10,000 steps for a 'rest' day is pretty darned good!!

End Of Week Two

emoticonStarted the day with Breakfast at my FAVORITE Breakfast place,Jimmy's Egg. Ran into some friends there and had a nice visit with them.
emoticonBy the time we got home it had started to warm up pretty good (54 degrees) so I walked over to Curves. Burned 384 calories on the machines plus 137 on the 2 mile walk getting there and back. On the way home I found a cell phone laying in the ditch. Ironically it was very near the same area where I lost a cell phone last year! It says AT&T on the case, but the battery is DEAD, and there is no SIM Card in it. I had planned on taking it to the AT&T Store here in town but I don't know if they could identify the Owner without a SIM Card.
emoticonAfter lunch I went to the Nursing Home to visit Claudine. She was feeling tired today, and with it being so windy we decided not to go out for a drive. Claudine taught knitting for many years and one of her students was my friend Genie. Last week Genie gave me a roll of yarn and some needles to take to Claudine to see if she could still knit. I think she sort of remembered, but with her poor vision and depth perception she couldn't quite 'Get It'. I did discover that I remembered more about knitting than I thought I would. It has been 30 years or more since I knitted.
emoticonGary and I had Dinner at my Favorite Italian place. Not sure how "Healthy" it was, but it WAS Delicious.
emoticonThis evening, we walked to 7-11 for Coffee and Snacks. I was relieved that they had a new shipment of Pears. They have been out of them for the past few days,and they have the BEST Pears in town. I also got a banana for Breakfast in the morning.

    Good for you getting your steps in! I love Italian, but don't dare go as my favorites are all high carb, high fat -I love the creamy pasta sauces!! I so rarely get an opportunity to eat out, nothing around here within walking distance I like and I hate food courts -rather be served then have to carry my own.
I too, am surprised you find anything healthy at a 7-11. I don't recall them even having fruit, but its been a very long time since I have seen the inside of one.

    Now, if only knitting burned calories I'd be going for it in a big way, lol... Everything I really enjoy - knitting, reading, computer, sewing, writing, etc etc etc - all revolves around SITTING.

    That's a lot of steps TJ! Good job! I think a phone without the SIM card is probably worthless, you could at least recycle it somewhere, don't they have a recycle for the troops kinda thing? I'm so amazed you 'shop' at 7-11...LOL :)

'Fabulous' Friday

emoticonI keep telling myself that Fridays are Fabulous, and they are Payday which is Good. And they are the beginning of the weekend which is good, and Gary got home today after working in Sand Springs Oklahoma for a week, so that is GOOD!!
emoticonBut on the Other Hand, Fridays are a LONG Day at work with No Computer access. And my Evening Job has almost ZERO opportunity for Exercise. My best chance is to get off work on my Day Job early enough to Zip by the Park or the Gym for 20 or 30 minutes before I have to be at the Evening Job.
emoticonI worked out at Curves this morning, then walked to 7-11 for Coffee. While I was at my Day Job, I managed to get 1.37 miles in by pacing the Living Room and Marching in place.
My Steps Count will be Low today but that is because I don't wear my pedometer on the Elliptical because they don't talk nice to each other. Besides the 2.32 miles on the Elliptical, I walked a little over 5 miles today.

1.) 13,115 Steps
2.) Burned 782 Calories
3.) 135 Minutes of Exercise
4.) Blog Done (Day 13!!)

One Hundred & Seventy Minutes

emoticonI really did NOT set out to get Big Numbers today. It is my Walking Day--No Strength Training on the agenda.
Since it was too cold to walk outside (23 degrees & Wind Chill 6!!) I went to Curves to walk on the Recovery Boards. It is kind of like walking with a group of Friends but you don't have to worry about someone walking too slow or too fast. I walked for 60 minutes which is how long I normally stay at Curves anyway.
emoticonWhen I got home the Sun was out and it didn't seem too cold to walk to 7-11 for Coffee. If I take the short route it would only take me 10 minutes to get to the store and back. After I started walking it really didn't seem that cold, so I went around an extra Block and the walk took 20 minutes instead of 10.
emoticonMy Morning Job involves a lot of standing around and waiting. Instead of just standing or sitting around, I march in place or pace. That added another 20 minutes (1.19 mile) without ever leaving the house!
emoticonThen I worked the Afternoon Shift at Curves. We keep it cool in there so that the Ladies won't get too hot while they are working out. Instead of sitting at the desk with the space heater under it to keep me warm, I decided to try doing Walking / Jogging intervals on the Recovery Boards. That added another 45 minutes and 2.78 mile to my totals.
emoticonI have been walking in my new Shape-Up Skecher Shoes for 20 minutes every evening to break them in gradually. Because it was so cold, I walked for 10 minutes after Dinner, then at my regular Evening Walk time I walked over to 7-11 taking the 'Medium' route = 15 minutes.

1.) 24,357 steps
2.) Burned 700 Calories
3.) Walked 170 Minutes
4.) Blog Done

    That is very creative using the recovery pads to walk on while at Curves! Way to go finding ways to keep moving!! That 7-11 sure must appreciate your business lol! I don't have any convenience stores where I live, just a block size mall, and there is nothing there I would buy every day. Water is my beverage of choice.

    I am going to have to find some place to walk to!! My desk job really limits my walking around....so I am "envious" of you being able to move, move, move all day! I need to get more creative with my "working hours" fitness without drawing attention to it!! emoticon for the snow!

    Wow, your activity level is something to aspire to. Sometimes I get tired just reading about your day - kidding! But honestly, I admire this and it makes me realize I can fit in a lot more walks if I put my mind to it!

    Wow, great day TJ!! You'll have those Shape Ups broken in in no time!
I love my Shape ups. When I got my new cast/boot yesterday, I needed something with height to balance me out, and since the boot is a rocker and the shape ups are too, it is a perfect balance! it feels really good. Mini me even tried my boot on tonight and then my shape up and she was amazed at how good of a balance they were together. LOL :)
