Day 27 - A picture of yourself and a family member

this is one of my favorite pictures of me and my son, Ethan. He was 10 when it was taken last year.

He is my joy. I love him lots! He is also my hardest child. I think he and I are a lot alike, both of us are stubborn and strong willed. We both want the last word! OH my...he isn't even a teenager yet!

I wouldn't trade him for anything!

Day 26 - A picture of something that means a lot to you
This one was a little bit more difficult for me. I don't put a lot of thought into "stuff", then I thought of this:

This is the afghan my mom made for me when I was a kid. I am 38 years old and she made it when I was in Kindergarten. I'll let you do the math. It has NO holes in it, all the stitches are still tight and in place. I use it all winter long as a throw while I am on the computer, watching tv or reading a book/magazine.

Wow! And this is no BS! My grandmother made my mother an afghan that looks virtually identical to yours! And that was back in the 1940s. Even the same colors! And it is also in near perfect condition. I have it now...

My eyes really popped when I saw this, Liz! TY for sharing!

Day 24 - A picture of what I would find in your bag
I have two bags....
One is my purse and one is what is lovingly called my office in a bag

This the current bag I am the bad you will notice a few things that may not be the typical thing that a women carries...
1. Crayons...I have kids!
2. Pocket Knife...yes I use it surprisingly often
3. measuring tape...same as #2
Otherwise I try to keep it to a miniuminm! I don't like those huge bags! The smaller the better!

My office in a bag...
I am the treasurer of the PTA - the blue binder has everything I need for that (soon to be EX-treasurer)
I am the treasurer of my Woman's Circle at Church the note book and file folders has everything in that!
the last thing is MY bills! i have a bill organizer to keep track of those!

While I don't carry a bag, I never go anywhere without my Swiss Army knife. Always right there in my right front pocket... And yes, I use it all the time as well. Like for opening those damnable super strong plastic packages that everything comes in now! What genius thought of that one??? I mean, talk about going overboard! You're lucky these days if you can open the wrapper of a flippin' candy bar without using tools!

Ohh... but nooo problem for my Swiss Army knife! It slices through even the most obnoxiously tough plastic wrapping, like a hot knife through butter.

Years ago, my dad was always telling me that "a dull knife will get you in trouble more than a sharp one..." So I keep my blade very keen and sharp enough to shave with.

Oh... and cool picture blog, Liz!

Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book; why is it your favorite?

This one is hard! I love to read. I love Classics...I read all types of books and I go back and read quite a few of them. I picked out two books. One is a classic and one is a more recent one, but still a couple years old.

first one:

Yes, I mean the book...not the movie, though i saw the movie first and i do love it. The book is so much better. So much more detail, the movie skipped a lot of the story. Like Scarlett had 3 children in the book where the movie only covered one. It also covered Rhett's life in much more depth. It is a great story!

the 2nd One:

I found this book through the Oprah Book Club. Some of her selections I just could never get into but this one....a true page turner. So well written so tragic. Through the whole story you just wanted it to be a happy ending...

"Gone with the Wind" is my all-time favorite! I read it the first time when I was twelve, and then reread it the following two summers. Each time, I got more out of it. It's an awesome book! And you're right - the movie left out a LOT of stuff...

Ugh.... reading.... it's gonna be awhile before I feel like reading for fun again. But I do have a book or two in mind for later in the summer.
