Not Quitting!

Sunday, October 05, 2008

Well second week of new challenge and weigh in day, as they even say on the Biggest loser, week 2 always seems to go "wrong".
Ok I'm not on week two of my weight loss, just with this challenge.

I have kept up the exercise, but once again fallen into the not eating enough range, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I just don't feel hungry some days.

The weather in the UK is miserable, as usual, cold, windy and wet....shouldn't expect anything else really, but only 4 weeks till I am back in the sunshine!

So it was no surprise to see the scale not move from what it was last week. I'm NOT quitting or dis-heartened, at least it wasn't a gain!

The scale isn't as important to me as is inches, they are what I and other people see...not that I am doing this for others lol.

I will STILL wear my bikini in Thailand, geez if I had the gall to wear one at 215, I am darn sure I will at under 160!

I just want to see 140 something on the scale one day!

I WILL NOT QUIT!

    Lizzy,

I know that sometimes you keep looking at the scale hoping that it's moving. I have gotten frustrated with that myself. I actually have kicked my scale to the curb because it was so upsetting. I am now going on measurements. Don't get me wrong I weigh myself but not like I did in the beginning. So just take your measurements per week, Do the plan here and remember. It's a life style change. We all didn't get this way over night so It can take a little time. Baby steps so it's not overwhelming. If there is anything you need just hollar!!!

Found the perfect challenge for ME

Saturday, September 27, 2008

Hi all

Well I have tried so many challenges and failed to either reach my goals or just given up.

I'm not saying I have given up on my journey to a better me, but I believe I took on too much, expected too much, gave myself goals that were too far out.

Now, there is nothing wrong with goals, but we all need to realise that some are just not right for you.

What is the point in trying to lose 10 pounds a month when you are already within 20-30 pounds of your goal, it's just not realistic.
We all know that the nearer you get to your goal the harder it is, so why push for 2 pounds a week like we did when we first started, it's just not going to happen!

So I saw a post to join the 5% challenge and it's going to last 13 weeks! Now THIS is very doable AND realistic!!
My total goal for the 13 week challenge is 8 pounds

I started last week at 158 (somehow gained over 5 pounds in the previous two weeks, putting it down to the new gym routine) and this week I finally LOST weight!

Down 1.2 pounds...

I feel great, love the refurbished gym, and am excited to know I will finish a challenge, not only as a team but for myself!

Ok I may not lose this amount each week, heck it's only half a pound a week, but with 13 weeks it allows for those times when the scale doesn't move.

Off to Thailand in 5 weeks and this challenge will continue while I am there, so I will keep going!

To everyone out there, you CAN do this, just take it one pound at a time, one week at a time, it ALL adds up in the end!

Back in the UK again....for now

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Hi anyone reading this lol

Got back to the UK on Monday and instantly felt depressed!

Coming back here always reminds me why I left in the fisrt place, cold, miserable, damp and grey!

Not really done much this past week, except work on my step-grandaughters computers and get them connected.

I'm really proud of her, Alisha, she is now 16 and had lost a lot of weight!
She was like me as a young girl, big boobs, big butt and big belly, BUT not any more!
I'm proud of her, and she is proud of herself too, so that is a good thing!

Visited the local gym today as they have re-furbished, so of course I have joined and start going on Monday.
They changed their pricing plan and it is now cheaper than before, even with the improvements and new equipment!

Need to work my butt off, literally for the next 7 weeks, as that is how close it is now till I go to Thailand!
I can't wait to get back into the warm and sunshine!

Take care all!

Congratulations on your granddaughter's success. She is not only motivating you but motivating me too. :-) Good job getting to the gym. Keep up the good work! 4 more weeks to go till you are in the hot sun.

Hey, think about the silver linings - you get to join a new gym, you get inspiration from what sounds like a very motivated 16 year old, and you get to focus on getting to Thailand! Those are some great silver linings to look at when you are looking out at the damp and gloom. I sympathize with you there though: When we get our rainy season which is not much here in California, I hate it, it make me so depressed I am all about the sunshine! I guess good thing I am in california!

WHAAAT? I would give my left foot to go back to the U.K. Well, I only visited for a two weeks and apparently, those two weeks were uncharacteristically sunny. Haha, but I hope you feel better! Also, congrats to your step-granddaughter. And also great job for joining the gym! :)

I must remember to blog!

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Oh my word, I have been slacking, haven't blogged in over a month!

Anyway, got back to Malta in July, just before my birthday, which was great as we went to the casino for a lovely meal and to play the slots of course hehe.

The weather has been HOT HOT HOT reaching 40c on most days.

I haven't been back to the gym, but have been using the stability ball, resistance bands and using coach nicoles SP videos.
Taken some walks which isn't that pleasant in this heat, but the water is beautiful for swimming, water temp is around 27-28c and clear.

I bought my hubby one of those vibration/power plates as when we were in Canada and he visited the chiropractor they had him on one and it does seem to help his legs a bit.

I'm not sure of the hype surrounding this things when it comes to actual "exercise" but I do use it too as it is quite fun, but it will never beat a good sweaty workout lol.

Talking of sweating...geez you can not clean house in this heat and I usually end up doing it at 3am in the morning or something silly like that.
Like right now it is 4.20am and the temp is still 30c...phew!

My eating has gone up the wall some what, not reaching calories again, due to not really wanting to cook or eat in this heat, but one thing it does help with is my thirst and getting in my fluids!

Will be returning to the UK again in a few weeks, and then staying there until our trip to Thailand starting on the 1st of November.....I can't wait!!!

I will try to keep up with the blogging.

Take care everyone, hope you are enjoying the summer months.

Back in the UK....for now

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Opps looks like I missed a week or so blogging.

Well I am back in the UK for a couple weeks or so, before I head back to Malta.

Had a great time in Canada, was great seeing Val, hubby and the girls again.
Boy has the youngest grown up!
She was 12 when I left Canada and now almost 15, has she grown up!!

Regarding diet and exercise, food was great, Val is a good cook!
Exercise I loved, going every day and even got flowers, a card and pics taken on my last class, which was really nice, almost cried lol

It was really good to have people to work out with, rather than just going circuit training at the gym by myself, and fit ball was really fun!

Glad to report, I did lose some inches and using my OWN scales I am around the same weight as when I first got there, so happy that I didn't gain.
Not worried about the lack of pounds lost.

I checked out the local gym here, just around the corner from where I live here on Friday and it has everything I need, so will start there tomorrow until I get back to Malta.

I don't know why I never checked it out before, no joining fee and only 2.50 a session whether you stay 30 minutes or 4 hours ...doubt I'll be doing 4 hours though lol

Looking forward to going back to Malta and then it's the big trip to Thailand!

Take care all, don't give up!!
