hHCG R1P2D4 and first Boot Camp evening

Thursday, October 07, 2010

Down another 1.2lbs, making a total of 6lbs so far!

Had a busy day today, starting with a morning session at the gym at 9.30am.
Ended up going without hubby as he was sore from yesterday and his legs were hurting.
So I got to concentrate on me (and not worry about him) for the hour.
Had a great session of pure cardio, really pushed myself and felt great/

Then this afternoon I had a Physio appointment to find out what is going on with my right shoulder/arm as it has been really sore and I've been getting shooting pains down the arm.....if it were the left I'd be worried!
Any way, it appears I have two problems with it.
First my shoulder joint is misaligned and slightly out of it's joint.
From the side view it looks rounded...I never noticed it before, but when pointed out I can see the difference between the left and right shoulders.
This is what has been causing the soreness and lack of movement and cracking/popping when I do move it, even get a little cracking on the left too.

Then the second problem actually stems from my neck!
Due to years of back pain I have "compensated" by using incorrect posture.
This has basically meant my neck is crushed...sounds drastic huh!
I have had problems with my neck in the past, but never really did anything about it, but now I'll have to!

So I have to TRY and sit with correct posture, I have certain (painful) neck exercises to do, which should stretch out my neck...you can actually feel the bone sticking out where it has crushed down on itself!
Maybe I should get those neck rings you see on those tribal women to stretch it out again?!!?!?

So that has been what has caused the shooting pains in the arm, a bit like a slipped disc causing sciatic pain, but in the arm it is just getting pinched now and again so the shooting pain isn't there all the time.
Wasn't earlier today when at the hospital..but that's typical, but it is hurting and got shooting pains now I am sat here relaxed (incorrect posture) and typing.

Any way, enough about that!

Tonight was the first evening session on boot camp at the gym.
Was a small group of 6, although one woman was just watching as she couldn't partake this week.
Friendly group, all women except for one young lad who I partnered up with.
We all weighed in (in private, just the gym owner recorded it) then warmed up on the cross trainers for a few minutes until all weighed in.
Then onto the circuit training, usual lunges, squats, crunches, push-ups etc.
Then outside for a relay "race" of walking lunges and sprints.
Back inside for weights which I always enjoy, deadlifts, biceps curls and lateral lifts.
That was it for the first session, with a little bit of diet advise thrown in...of course I have my own diet which it working very well thank you very much!

There are two other bootcamp sessions on Monday afternoons, which means there are a total of 18 people taking part.
Each week we will put in £1, and the biggest loser of the week wins the pot...so
that means £18 per week can be won. Not a bad prize as the cost of the 6 week session is only £15...so money can be made....£'s for pounds emoticon

After boot camp, got home and hubby had run a lovely hot bath with the jacuzzi feature and radox, awwww isn't he a darling....so relaxing.

So that was my day.....how was yours? lol

Thanks for sharing. I have back/neck issues due to a wreck 20 yrs ago. I overcompensate with poor posture. Thanks for the reminder that I need to straighten up. Sounds like the boot camp could be fun with the prize and money incentives. Good luck!!

Day 3 progress - 4.8lbs total lost

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

hHCG R1P2D3 1.6 lost this morning!

Went to bed again at 10pm, but did not sleep that well, woke up at 2am to go pee, then again at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep.
So I got up at 4.30, still dark and did some laundry and other chores, plus some computer work.

Took my HCG drops, waited and was craving a milky coffee, so I went ahead and put half a cup of hot skimmed milk into my coffee mug and it was SO good!

Rest of the day I stayed on protocol, had a nice lunch off ground beef lettuce wraps, and for dinner fish and cabbage.
Will be interesting to see if cabbage will affect any loss in the morning as I have heard many say it has stalled their loss or even gained, so I'll see.

Good session at the gym, today was a lighter cardio session as it was ST day.
Hubby was happy about that, but as my program is harder than his I said we would BOTH do mine.
Now that might sound funny to some, but as mentioned in my previous blog hubby is almost 73, but I still pushed him and he didn't manage to complete my full set, so I think he wont moan again when it's cardio only tomorrow hehe.

Hope everyone is doing well, best wishes!

Be careful with milk since the lower fat ones have sugar...cabbage is on the protocol so you can eat that.

emoticon 3.2 pounds lost!

Another great day which started after a 9 hour sleep!
I went to bed at an unheard of 10pm and got up at 7am, only woke up once to pee, which is not surprising after all the fluid I had!

So today was day2 of VLCD and once again I found it so easy, I'm still not sure if it is the HCG drops, or the fluids, but I am not feeling hungry at all and even now at almost 10pm I feel full...and ready for bed again lol.

Did my hour at the gym with no problems, reaching my minimum target of 350 calories burned. Hubby seemed a little put out that I didn't want to do weights today, but as I told him I did them yesterday and will do them tomorrow.

He is doing well and is now using both the treadmill and the bike for cardio along with his ST and after only 3 weeks I can see the difference.
Even the owner of the gym said he is in good shape for almost 73.
The other workers said it is not often you hear compliments like that from the owner, so hubby was well chuffed!

Looking forward to tomorrow!

I know you are new to this, but if you are doing much exercising -- especially cardio - you may find that you have to up your calories a bit. After being on the drops and 500 calories for about 4 days, I noticed I was feeling very fatigued and my muscles were sorer than usual after I exercised. I do classes at the local YMCA 4 or 5 times a week, and got into the habit of eating more on those days and also doing a protein shake. The 500 calorie version of the diet was designed for people that do little, if any exercise.

Also, I would make sure and take a daily vitamin that includes a lot of minerals, as the food you eat on protocol might not contain all the nutrition you need to function at peak shape!

hHCG R1P2 VLCD 1

Monday, October 04, 2010

Good evening all

Well today was the day that I got down to the nitty gritty of the HCG diet.

After a weekend of "loading" I gained 2 pounds, which is not a lot really in the whole scheme of things.

I have never been a "breakfast" person, so skipping that meal is no problem for me.
I did miss my regular routine cup of tea with milk, followed by a milky coffee though.
Instead I've gone for a mix of oolong and green tea with lemon.

Lunch was Shrimp Scampi and broccoli followed by some strawberries.

Had my usual session at the gym from 2-3.30pm and then home to a bread stick as a snack (While hubby had a special blueberry muffin made by the owner of the gym, high protein, 30g, and low carb lol).

Dinner was chicken and spinach, followed by an apple and another bread stick at 7.30pm.
I can honestly say I feel fit to burst, maybe it's all the water, the tea, no clee but I wont be eating another thing today!

All in all I think it has been a good day, on to tomorrow!

Good luck to you!

Body scan of a 250 lbs woman vs a 120 lbs woman

Sunday, October 03, 2010

Have you seen this body scan of a 250 lbs woman versus a 120 lbs woman?

If you’re looking for motivation to lose weight … I’d say this is a really good reason to start taking healthy eating and adopting a healthy lifestyle (aka exercise regularly) VERY seriously!

The difference is simply shocking.

When you look at the two scans you quickly see the following on the scan of the overweight woman:

Her stomach is much larger

Her shoulders are really wide

She’s essentially twice the size of the 120 lbs woman
Her hips are much wider apart (which explains why overweight women have a lot of difficulty walking)

Look at how far apart her feet are due to the weight around her thighs and knees.
Her ankles are bent (which could be due to the extra weight)

I am not saying we should all be 120 pounds, but reducing our body fat is the most important thing we can do for our health, even someone of 120 pounds can have too much overall bodyfat, but that will not put as much pressure on the body as someone carrying a lot more!!

A timely reminder me thinks

I think these pictures and the comments have some great points.

One of the things I look at when I see something like this is that people who are obese get inferior care as a result of their own life style choices. The quality of imaging is inferior to to people who are morbidly obese and obese. Because of the decreased quality of the studies, the person who reads them will have an imaging study of inferior quality - hence an inferior reading.

As for scare tactics. I don't believe in them. People have seen pictures of lung cancer for ages and that did not do squat. What is more helpful is concept like this website where there is peer involvement - peer encouragement if you want, and that will help the 'epidemic' of healthier living.

Cholestrol is actually non racial it takes anyone whom just doesn't care what they put in their mouths-both fat and skinny alike.
Having thin fat people die on me and having intimate knowledge of my local heart unit helped get the weight off... I know lifestyle illnesses are out there, burying my folks was enough to get the weight off..
These photos don't tell the average person on the street much-but seeing people collapse and die sometimes doesn't give people their aha moment before they feel it on their own bodies..
Sadly the aha moment for many of my clients is one aha moment too late.. I am for more direct scare tactics and show people their insides on scannings.. Seeing pending damage would make more people be shocked and keep at the lifestyle change....
I don't miss the food- watching also people die from diabetes also gives life new meaning- we humans take everything too much for granted..
