Didn't Make My July 4th Goal...

Sunday, July 06, 2014

...but I tried. I just found out last week that I wasn't eating enough food for the amount of activity I am doing. I'm sure this contributed to me not meeting my July 4th goal of 40 pounds. I'm a little bummed, but I'm OK because I'm still learning about me. I knew when I started this journey that I wanted to be more in tuned to me, myself and I. This is all a part of it. My 2014 goal is to lose 50 pounds and I am more than half way to that point.

I am moving on. Yay!

Meeting goals is hard. But as long as you are making progress, I wouldn't worry about it. emoticon emoticon

What I Did on March 29, 2014

Saturday, March 29, 2014

We didn't have team workout today, so I ventured out with my dog to try to get 10,000 steps in before returning home. Our team (Seaside Sparkers) usually workout 90 minutes on Saturday, so that was another goal that I needed to meet.

I had originally planned to ride my bike on the Strand, but last night's earthquake (5.1) helped me make the decision to stay closer to home and take my dog with me. Our destination was Wilson Park and it's surrounding areas.

Although the farmer's market folks were setting up and the shoppers were arriving, the park wasn't too crowded when we arrived at 8:30AM. We walked one and a half times around the park then decided to move outside the park. We walked across Crenshaw moving towards Sepulveda, turning right on Sepulveda down to Maple then Del Amo Park and back to Wilson Park.

Wilson Park was quite lively when we returned. Not only is the farmer's market there, there were Polynesian dancers, Tai Chi practice, baseball games, picnics, folks walking around the perimeter of the park (approx. 1 mile), tennis games, and more. I got my 10,000 steps in and in the allotted time. YEAH! I'm totally exhausted as is Laci (my dog).

2014 - 1st Goal Met

Thursday, March 27, 2014

I have met my first goal of losing 20 pounds by my birthday about six weeks early. YES!! Now, I will push towards reaching my second goal of losing an additional 20 pounds by July 4th. I'm learning so much about my eating habits which I'm finding to be my biggest downfall. While losing my first 20 pounds; I gained 2.8 pounds (and not all at the same time). I've found it to be so much easier identifying my bad habits when the scale is inching up .6 or .8 pounds at a time. Looking over the past week to see what I'm doing that's not working for me has been a big plus.

As my skirts and pants get longer, I will continue to press on.

Another New Food :-(

Tuesday, March 04, 2014

...so, I tried the Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt and I was not impressed. This is probably the first food that I've tried this year that I didn't care for. I picked the raspberry Greek yogurt dipped in dark chocolate.

I love both of these flavors especially together, but I didn't care for the texture nor the flavor of Yasso. The raspberry frozen Greek yogurt didn't taste like any other raspberry yogurt that I have tasted and it was very hard and icy. The dark chocolate was very thin and didn't compliment the yogurt. It actually fell off of the yogurt on the first bite. This brand was actually a little more expensive than the Weight Watchers and Skinny Cow AND only had 4 items in the box. Although only 110 calories, I will not buy this one again.

    Hey Lizzie,

I don't know why I haven't tried yogurt. There are a lot of good for you foods that I have never tried. Like cottage cheese, oatmeal, mostly all the vegetables. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. emoticon Hey, you are doing great! Keep trying those foods!

One More New Food

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Today, I tried Bob's Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled Hot Cereal for breakfast and it was delicious. I had seen it in several markets (including Big Lot and the Oroweat Outlet) and thought that it would be a good swap with oatmeal, and I was right. This cereal is filled with fiber (whole grain oats, whole wheat, rye, barley, triticale and flaxseed). The only name I'm not familiar with is triticale, so I looked it up. It's a hybrid of wheat and rye (according to Wikipedia). I added raisins and a little sweetener and that was it. At 120 calories per serving, this one is definitely a keeper!
