Am I Over The Top...Or What?

I'm thinking...I'm thinking!

I feel very elated to have reached my SP goal weight, and have been maintaining at or just below goal for some time now. emoticon

But I feel kind of at loose ends. I don't want to slog around with no where to go...no definite path to follow. So I felt I needed some help for a new goal plan.

I've had at least two helpful responses so far on my call for help. emoticon

First things first and probably most important was submitted by SUZ (SUZWARNR): To Maintain. Yes! Of course. But alas, easier said than done...and a lifetime road map is needed.

Linda (RAYLINSTEVENS) asked how I felt, since weight is just a number on the scale. Yes, I'll have to think about that some, since I've never been exactly at this point that I can recall. Elaborate, Linda or someone.

I'm also thinking about my BMI and where I stand on that. Seems I am on the high end of Normal Weight (24.9) Getting to midway would surely be a logical and feel-good goal. Right?

I really want to tone up more...I think I am doing pretty good as my fitness minutes are at least presentable for someone my age: If necessary, I could do more, I'm sure.
Most days (except Sunday) I do from 30 minutes to 1 hour of fitness. My program:

*Kettlebells/sculpt/cardio mix twice a week
*Walking and machines at the Y several times a week
*Water Aerobics,Zumba and Yoga sporadically as it works into my schedule.

My smaller wardrobe of clothes is definitely fitting nicely...but I still have a couple outfits that I'd like to fit better. And how about some new clothes? Now, that could be a goal!

But there must be more to it than that.
All suggestions and advice are on the table.

Still, I'm thinking. Am I over the top?

    Liz you are NOT overdoing anything. It's always good to set new goals for yourself.
I saw that someone suggested giving talks at senior centers. If you are comfortable speaking in front of groups this may be a fun thing. Being an inspiration to others
will make you feel even better.

    Liz, my friend. You can maintain and still get smaller. It's a marvelous thing. Keep building muscle with your strength training. I've lost a lot of fat, inches and gained a ton of muscles. My clothes continue to get smaller as my weight stays the same. As for the map, just follow my path. I'll help in any way I can. :)

    I think you should make it your goal to come to England & visit me! But failing that, as you are such a fantastic inspiration for everyone I feel your story should be shared as much as possible. The world needs you!! Perhaps your goal should be to give talks to health centers or schools or even the media? Have a professional photo shoot & share your success. emoticon

    Sounds like you are happy with your results but you would like a little bit more; lets say some wiggle room... yes?? If that is the case; continue what you are doing and consider making a new goal to lose 5 lbs to give you that wiggle room of a few lbs +/- and I think that will put you in a good comfort zone. That with what you already do for cardio and toning is the start of maintenance. Any help emoticon

Congratulations on reaching, and maintaining your goal weight! It's a wonderful acheivement. It does leave you feeling in limbo when you get there though. For me, I don't want to lose any more weight, but I also still need to do a lot of firming and rearranging. Hopefully swapping out muscle for the remaining fat!

I'm trying to come up with fitness goals to work toward and then planning out the steps I need to take to accomplish those things. You've also inspired me to want to try kettle balls, so I'm going to be looking into that. But then, you're such an inspiration in every way! The only thing I know for sure is that I need to keep moving the goal forward so I have something specific to work for. Otherwise it's too easy to slip.

I wish you luck in finding what works for you.

    I preferred to be middle of normal myself.

But I am nowhere near as muscular and fit as you so you have to consider that muscle weighs more. I am trying to find a kettleball workout for beginners before I even think of using one. You are such a motivator for me! The risk of hurting my back scares me.

Since you're asking for advice, how about maintaining where you are for a bit and see how you feel. If you still want to reduce a few pounds, then go for it. But very slowly.

But at the risk of losing your new muscle mass, you really do have to think this through.

I Love A Party...Especially When It's For Me!

I know it wasn't a fluke. It 'was me what done it'! ( My positive self-talk here.) This morning I was a half-pound under goal....second day in a row I was under. emoticon

But last night was a real blast. emoticon It was my "graduation party" at my local TOPS meeting for reaching my KOPS goal.

So while I had lots of help from TOPS and especially SparkPeople (my daily go-to fix for motivation, tools and inspiration) I'm the one who is ultimately responsible for making things happen. Want to see a few pictures to prove it?

Visits Are Over But The Joy Lingers!

Michael flew out from Little Rock to Guanajuato, Mexico on Saturday. The last of our four children to leave, whose visits over the July 4th holidays couldn't have been more wonderful. Two others left earlier in the week for Dallas and OKC.

What would warm the hearts of parents more, whose grownup and mostly far away children return home to mom and dad for that special time --- so that we all could be together again in one place at one time?

Three sons and one daughter with their spouses (except for one) and three grandkids, were here for fun, food and festivities. So here they are:

The Guys.

Seated: Son-in-law Mike, son Dan holding Pierre, grandson Elliott (with the face)
Top: Son David, Dad, son Michael. (Grandson Joe not pictured).

The Girls:

Seated: Granddaughter Evin between daughters-in-law Rhonda and Vicki.
Top: Daughter Debra and happy Mom


How did my food and fitness challenge go? Well, while not perfect , with more than a little tweaking on my calorie range and doing some exercise most days, I weighed in today just a few ounces above goal---almost the same as before the July Fourth celebrations began over a week ago.

I can't help noticing that one of the guys has a very hairy body. Is that a Bichon Frise? I happen to have one as well. He's gorgeous!

    Oh yes, I feel like the hare racing into oblivion with little to no results... very frustrated. I think we need to stop and smell the emoticon more often so we don't burn out... I feel like I hit a wall maybe should slow down. Great analogy!

    This reminds me of my twin brother who, as a child, could eat like a horse and was thin as a rake, while I could put weight on just by looking at a piece of cake! So not fair!! emoticon

My Challenge Since Reaching Goal

My big challenge is here and now!

This Fourth of July holiday may prove to be my biggest test yet! Family members are converging on us beginning today and throughout the coming week. I don't really need to explain all that entails.

To protect my goal and to avoid disappointing myself and those who have supported me thoughout this time I have been talking lickedy split to myself.

PLAN.

*To sign in each morning as usual if I have to wake up earlier. (And check for comments, replying if at all possible.) Forgive me if I lag behind on that.
*Keep a log of everything I put in my mouth on my nutrition tracker. ..If I go over some on my calorie range.
*Same with my fitness minutes of which I'll try to get in at least the minimum amount of 30 minutes a day. I usually average close to an hour most days.
*I can surely get all my water in, even though I don't always do that every day.
*Stay up a little later to be sure I finished my Plan.

This will take some doing I think, but in order to end up the week without destroying a perfectly wonderful Goal, I must accept the challenge I am making myself.

No option.
