My daughter and I went out today because she had a doctors appointment and then we went out to lunch. We drove out of the parking lot and up to the line of cars waiting at the stoplight.
We were just sitting there for about a minute when the driver ahead of us puts on his backup lights and stepped on the gas pedal so fast I didn't have time to think! He SLAMS into us and shatters the windshield, the airbags deployed and the front end of the car sustained extensive damage!
My daughter is 13 years old and she was pretty shook up as well as I was. She didn't even want to go to that town again after that.
I know she will again in time but it is always harder on the kids because their world is so traumatized by things more than adults.
We are totally in the clear as far as our insurance having to pay anything because we were not at fault at all.
Even the police that came out to the scene said there was a lot of damage for just backing up and running into someone. he told me he was going to give the other driver a ticket but he wasn't sure exactly what he was going to get him for. He seemed really frustrated with the other driver because he was backing up and trying to go another route instead of waiting for the traffic. He was impatient.
Oh well, we will see what comes of it. Our car is probably going to be totalled since there was so much damage done.
Hugs to all, I hope you all have a safe holiday season!
