Relearning how to downhill ski

We skied a few weekends a year growing up but for the past 20 years, I can count maybe twice. Ive been "wanting" to go....clearly not bad enough bc it took until this past wknd to actually hit the slopes. It's semi frightening as a 36 yr old but feels good to relearn a sport and the days flew by - it was soooo fun!! I played it safe & stuck to semi easy routes, leaving friends to go advanced, but it was encouraging. I'm looking forward to continuing the new journey and catch myself up (in due time) with all these NE ski bunnies gliding effortlessly down the slopes.

I really put a lot of pressure on myself to exceed immediately & I've been working on it for years & can say I successfully was kind to myself (my 2013 new years resolution), appreciated the ability that I DO have to be able to get back out there and didn't beat myself up or dwell on not be the best out there. That, in itself, made this past weekend a HUGE success.

    It's always fun to try new things. I have a hard time doing things that I am not "good" at, but your attitude about that is awesome! Just getting out there and trying something new is a great way to recharge!

    I recently started skiing again (2 weeks ago) and forgot how much fun it is. I had only skiied once in the last twenty years and it was more than 2 years ago, but it was great too!

I'm back. For real. I miss this inspiring crew. I've been sticking with all my daily accountability things for the most part (we are all human, right?) & still liking my list & feeling healthy with the balance.

It will take some time to catch up around here so bear with me. I think I hesitated in the past because it was overwhelming to catch up with everyone but shaking that thought.

Life is GOOD for me. I really can't complain. I'm in a good place and looking forward to share that with all y'all.

I think I'm going to try sparkpeople again. It worked before and I really would feel better if I was 7-10lbs lighter. Nothing drastic but also reinstating some habits that have slipped by the wayside.

Current plan includes daily- day 1, Jan 5 :
Make & drink green juice-yes
No cheese & limited dairy-yogurt yes
Limited grains - yes
Cardio or Weights AND Pilates or yoga - spinning & yoga yes
eat at home, bring lunch - yes
Vitamins daily w/ h2o - yes
Dog walks- yes

Gotta love when day 1 is a success :)

Week in review

Mon - cardio DVD, dog walk
Tues - taught am & pm
Wed -pilates lesson, taught pm
Thurs - taught pm
Friday - off - pilates lesson, family dinner
Saturday - spa time w mom
Sunday - solo pilates, dog walk

Lacked cardio but my ankle is bugging me. I think it might be from the little insanity that I've done. I hope not but I'm not pushing it. It's not worth it. I worked extra this past week and am covering more this coming week to make extra only for upcoming vacation so prob not the best weeks to be "restarting" but life manages to always get in the way. Overall, not a bad week. Could have done better w dogs walks & cardio but I was really busy (& not just sitting around believing my excuses) ;).

This week gonna go back & see if preplanning helps....sometimes it has been a savior & others it's been annoying...honestly, not sure where I am right now. It's worth a shot. I still can't get my @ss out of bed for an am something unless I'm teaching

Monday - teaching pm
Tuesday - teach am, dog walk & cardio pm
Wednesday - pilates lesson, dog walk, teach pm
Thursday - dog walk & cardio
Friday - pilates lesson pm
Saturday - yoga, dog walk, cardio
Sunday - solo pilates, dog walk

Let's see how I did on my first week of keeping track on the below list of goal weekly happenings....

"me" time, - done - massage
my heart time (cardio), yup - 4x
my dog walking time, yup - 2x
my pilates student time, yup - 2x
Solo pilates practice, yup - 1
my pilates teaching time, yup - 3x
my friend/family time, yup - 1x(out)
& some yoga time week - maybe I'll get thus in but running out of time

Overall, pretty good! I'm satisfied, I don't feel like I neglected any areas which has been a concern when my schedule is so insanely on the GO. Also led to a very healthy week in terms of food intake& clean eating. Going for another similar week to come!
