Sticking with plans is a difficult thing for most people, myself included.

I have been working on a healthier eating style for a few weeks now that includes cooking more meals and avoiding some of the prepackaged items. While there is a lot of room for improvement, I have made positive strides forward.

I have also made a goal to try to exercise at least 10 minutes a day. While I have not made all days, I have done more than I have missed. This week, I have rode my exercise bike for 41.53 miles. I am hoping for at least that much success next week as well. (This week was only counting Jan 1-5).

I am planning for next week too. I will make every attempt to keep on track and not let myself slip into the old way of doing things. I am not making strict changes that doom a person to failure. I am working on things a step at a time.

Best of luck to all of you.

Walking

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

I did it! I came home from a long day at work and wanted nothing more than to sit on the couch and veg. However, I remembered that I had a goal to walk 6 miles by Wednesday night so I made myself go for a walk. As it turns out, I walked 4 fast miles. I am proud of myself but think I might pay for it tomorrow!

Finding time

Monday, August 15, 2011

I am sure I am not the only one with this problem.

I know I need to make exercise and my health a priority but how?

I have to work and keep the house in a sanitary condition..note I did not say perfectly in order etc... I have to make meals for the family in a somewhat consistent fashion so that they can be healthy or at least not starving. I have to make time to do the routine things like appointments and bill paying.

How do you find time to exercise consistently and enough to make a difference without making a spouse and/or child feel like they are not as important as the time you need for yourself? I know they could exercise with me BUT spouse works nights and goes to nap before work making the timing an issue. Daughter does not necessarily want to exercise with me but instead wants to play a game or something of that nature. AND, Once school starts, the challenges increase tremendously!

I am going to try to get back in the habit of getting up earlier to try to fit in some exercise but that is also a challenge as then I have to take a shower before work and we only have one bathroom. It is needed at that time by my son. I also have to make sure that I don't get up too early and then I am too tired after work and am therefore, crabby where I am not good for anyone either!

How do you all do it? Suggestions, advice, etc.. is appreciated!

Work on compromises with your children. You can also have exercise from things like walking to the park or just taking a walk in the neighborhood.

It is a partnership to make you a better you.

Today, August 4

Thursday, August 04, 2011

It was a busy day, as usual. Work, celebrate a co-workers birthday, and leave early for other things that needed to get done. Daughter went to doctor to talk about some serious mood swings that may just be hormones but appear to be worse than that. Counseling is the first step and then further evaluation will be done. Got some exercise in but not nearly what I wanted to do. Sold my truck. Came home and cleaned the house. Posted on SP and will go to bed in a minute.

Good night everyone! I hope you had a successful day.

I am hoping the counseling will help out some. She is almost seeming like an article I read on Borderline Personality Disorder and she identified with most of the symptoms. Yet, I still hope she is just overly hormonal and not able to control things due to inexperience. We had trouble with her before though with signs of OCD. She seems to have that mostly under control due to counseling and some behavioral modifications suggested by the counselor to help her from leting it get worse. It's going to be a long road...

Good luck with your appt and keep me posted!

It must have been the day for addressing our daughter's emotional needs. I had a long talk with my DD today about similar concerns and she finally agreed to see a doctor tomorrow. I am so glad. Your blog was short today but packed with lots of good news. Have a wonderful evening.
