Well, I'm back home from PA after a nice long weekend with my family. I'm sad to be back, every time I go home it reminds me how much I miss it. Joe and I did talk about moving back... but that's another story for another blog!
I've got to get back on track with my healthy eating (Paleo, or similar) and exercise, and I NEED to keep myself accountable! I made up a calendar for April that includes a workout for every day (aside from Sundays which I've reserved as a rest day). On Mondays and Wednesdays I'm going to take a class at work called Step, Sweat, and Sculpt (the description is "This class mixes higher intensity cardio with lower intensity weight training using a STEP and light hand held weights. A great workout for maximizing fat burning"). On Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm going to do a workout with Stacy and another coworker. Fridays and Saturdays I'll do some strength exercises at home.
I'm setting a mental goal to aim for 8 to 10 pounds lost each month. I would LOVE to be down 40 by the time we go away in August. 30 is my absolute lowest that I'll accept. I need to stop accepting these little 5-8 pound losses and then getting off track and gaining everything back. This time, it's going to stick. Joe's on board as well so that's helpful and I think we'll make it a little competitive once we get into the swing of things.
Anyway, I'm tired... been a long day of travel and grocery shopping. I'm not tired in the "I'm sleepy" sense...just tired in the "I need to go lay down and do nothing" sense. Happy April!

Joe and I were talking yesterday about summer vacation plans. We decided we'd like to go to the Maine coast this year for a few days or a week and do a rental house. They are SOOOO EXPENSIVE though, averaging around $1200 for a week! So, I was feeling a little discouraged until I got away from the websites specifically for vacation rentals and looked on Craigslist. We found an ad for this adorable house for $700/week in Rockland, Maine, right near the Penobscot Bay.
The price was perfect for us, so I called and emailed the poster last night and called again today. I got through to the woman who owns the house and she was so nice! This is the first year she is renting it so she was super flexible. She had almost all of August available so we booked it for August 10th through August 16th and all she's asking is a $100 deposit and we can pay the rest when we get there. We are sooo excited! This is Rockland:
She told me that the house is about five minutes walk from a little beach and there are several more within driving distance. Plenty of parks for outdoor adventures, shops, a renovated boardwalk, a playground, etc. Joe can get a three day fishing license for less than $25. I anticipate a week full of relaxation! We can even bring our dog (but we're not sure if we will as he's big and our car is not...we'd need to get a luggage rack for the roof in order to have room for him).
I'm looking forward to spending lots of time here, reading and enjoying the breeze from the water!
So, with our summer beach trip planned and booked, I definitely need to kick butt and get myself into better bathing suit shape! :D

I'm so not excited for work today. I'm exhausted and my back is killing me. I woke at 3 am because Spencer was crying for a diaper change, then slept on the couch for the next 1.5 hours since Joe was snoring. I had a terrible dream that my mother was dead, so needless to say it wasn't the best night's sleep. However, I will say that because it's so warm and cozy out here on the couch I really don't want to get up.
I need to go to the post office today on my lunch break. I have a few packages that HAVE to be mailed today (I totally forgot to do it Saturday). Then I'm thinking I might do a half an hour of cardip at the gym before heading home. We'll see how my back feels.
Gotta get up now, find some Aleve, and throw something together for lunch. Blahhhhh.

Well, the week ended as crappy as it started. Friday evening our heater broke so we were without heat until Saturday morning when the landlord came over to fix it. God, was it cold! Got down to about 56 in the house... :( Luckily we have a space heater for Spencer's room, so he was toasty, and I have an electric blanket. Joe used the larger space heater in the living room, the area's a little too big for the heater to be efficient, but it's nice to have close by when you're asleep.
Yesterday Joe spent most of the day in bed which made me so mad and frustrated. He does this every weekend. It's not fair- I never get a day off in bed. I wake up at 5 am for work during the weekday, and by 7 AT THE ABSOLUTE LATEST on weekends. I love my time with Spencer on weekends, and I'm naturally a pretty early riser, but I still think Joe takes advantage on the weekends. We ended up arguing about it yesterday and he told me he's "depressed"... yet he refuses to contact the doctor. If he's truly depressed, then he needs professional help. And he also needs to be open and honest with me about it.
This week will likely be pretty busy. We are going to Philly on Thursday right after I get out of work (so obviously missing class that night) and staying until Monday morning. I'm looking forward to it! I'm going to go to class on Tuesday, and hopefully be motivated enough to get to the gym on my lunch breaks. The first week of April is the last week of BeFit, so luckily I won't be missing it!
My plan for April is to continue doing classes. Stacy works out with one of my other coworkers Tuesday through Friday at around 3 pm and said I should join them. I'm thinking of taking a class on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30, it is Step, Sweat, and Sculpt (or something like that). Then doing Tuesday and Thursday classes with Stacy and my coworker (Meg). Still aiming for some cardio throughout the week on lunch breaks- maybe 3 times a week especially on Fridays when I can't do an afternoon or evening class because we drive Chloe to meet her mom.
I'd like to start going back to the gym Saturday mornings as well and just taking Sundays off.
As far as eating goes, I really want to refocus on Paleo for the month of April and see how it goes. I've been tempted (and giving into) lately by food that is definitely not Paleo-friendly, but have also been trying to eat a lot of fruit, veggies, and lean protein. I don't think I've gained weight but I'm trying to not use the scale too much. I know I'll be eating a fairly decent amount over the coming weekend and honestly, I'm just going to enjoy myself. I've got plans to go out to my favorite diner with friends on Saturday night and I want my usual chicken fingers and cheese fries! Plus, my mom is having a big spread for Easter on Saturday and on Friday I believe we have plans to dye eggs with my kids, my nephew and sister-in-law, and my sister, so my mom said she'd make baked ziti or we'll get pizza or something. So yeah, definitely planning a food-filled weekend, but, I'm not going to worry!
I know March really wasn't that great for me, but I'm planning to make April better. I'd like to lose at least 10 more pounds by Memorial Day (ideally- 20!) and fit comfortably into a size smaller by then too. So I'm setting that little goal for myself and am really going to dig down deep and push myself to stick with my gym schedule and healthy eating. I know I just need to lose the first decent chunk and I'll be motivated to keep going!
Anyway, as I write this Spencer is telling me "hungry, hungry" so we are going to get dressed and go get some breakfast! I want some coffee and we're all out, and we also need milk for the kiddos. Hoping I can get Joe up to come with us and maybe do breakfast out. Spencer -loves- McDonald's eggs.

I'll expand on this blog later, but yesterday was awful. One of my students couldn't breathe well and we had to call 911. He was taken away on a stretcher! As of around 6 pm he still couldn't breathe well and was on a respirator. They are testing for RSV today.
Must get ready for work- got another pot roast in the crock pot for lunch! Just a normal one with onions, celery, and carrots... nothing fancy. Yum.
Chloe's with her mom all weekend, we're dropping her off at 3:30. We have no real plans. :)
Stacy complimented my push-ups in class last night! She said they were "awesome" and I'm doing them perfectly. We did 4 sets of however many we could do in 30 seconds, so it was tiring, by the last set I was struggling. We did about 6 or 7 exercises yesterday, 4 times each.
Anyway, off I go. Praying for a nice, quiet day at work!!!
