Class was okay yesterday. I didn't care for the format. She had us split into two groups, and each group did one exercise for a minute, then switched. We did each exercise twice before learning something new. We only used the large balls (what are they called??) and barbells... very little equipment. She had us doing some really hard stuff though- like jumping while holding barbells. Ugghhh. I didn't feel as though I gave it my best effort, so after class I did 20 minutes on the elliptical because class only lasted about 45 minutes.
My back is really hurting. I don't think I did enough stretching after class.... I'm going to need to take some Aleve for sure today.
I'm really tired, didn't get a solid night of sleep. I just kept tossing and turning. I had strange dreams too.
I'm bringing the kids' leftover dinner for lunch- shake and bake chicken breast (we only had really thin pieces left, so, not much), roasted potatoes, and a little bit of broccoli with cheese sauce. Joe just scraped all their leftovers into a container for me, so I don't have measured portions, but I'm guessing it's not too high in calories. The kids get pretty small portions to begin with. Spencer really didn't eat dinner last night... he's so picky with new things! He wasn't like this as a baby... it's frustrating.
Anyway, I'm off. Hoping to get ready fairly quickly and lay back down on the couch for a bit before work.

So, yesterday's highlight was definitely surprising hubby with tickets to see Frank Turner whom he has been obsessed with since I introduced him to Frank's music in December. LIke...buying every album, two shirts, joining the forums because "Frank actually writes on them!".... lol. I saw that he's playing in Northampton MA the night before Joe's bday (which is 3/3) so I got tickets. Hoping my friends can babysit for us lol. Joe was really surprised when I called him from work to tell him. :)
I went to the gym yesterday, the kids and I Skyped with my sister, we picked up some groceries, Joe finally saw OUR doctor (he's been sick for ages but has only seen the available doctors when he's called). He has an ear infection! So he got meds for that. All in all, it was a nice day.
I did eat a couple too many oreos. Oh well. I also had an order (12 pieces) of California rolls for dinner, probably not the lowest cal, but still relatively healthy. And yummy lol.
Off I go... Salad for lunch today needs making!

Weekend was neither super nor completely horrible. I ate like a person not trying to lose weight, but also who isn't a complete glutton. Yesterday we stayed inside all day as it was too cold to take the kids out to do anything (in the teens and super windy- ick!). I ate too many fruit snacks yesterday after making the mistake of buying them for Spencer. I just can't resist them and I don't even know why. But, at least they're low-fat and pretty low calorie...
today I'm GOING TO THE GYM NO MATTER WHAT. My cold is mostly gone aside from being a bit congested and having a gross taste in my mouth... both of which will probably fade by mid-morning. Seems my symptoms are always worse when I wake up and at night. And I've really been neglectful of my plan, and two weeks is a long enough break. I'm getting back into th gym and I'm going to kick butt.
I made a yummy pasta dish for lunch with whole wheat rotini, pesto sauce, chicken, broccoli, mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes. I know the pasta is about 200 calories, and the pesto is probably kind of high too, but other than that it's a pretty healthy dish. I like the fact that the pesto really only clings to the broccoli, it's so thin it doesn't hold well on the noodles- so I get the taste but when I'm finished eating there's a ton of sauce left on the plate. I'm sure that helps reduce calories, lol.
Anyway, because my lunch is pretty big and filling, I'm sticking to mostly veggies for snacks today. And I will get back into counting calories, which I've been slacking in doing.
We're most likely visiting family at the end of March (over Easter weekend)- I'd like to lose 10 or 15 lbs by then. Ideally- 10 or 15 in addition to the 3 or 4 I've lost (since I gained a pound or two back), but, total would still be nice if I can't get to that 20 pound goal.

So, I've been reading a little into the Flat Belly Diet, and am wondering if any Sparkers have had success with it. I'm not expecting to lose 7 pounds over a weekend as the book says you can. I'm not expecting to lose 15 pounds in a month. But I DO need to figure out some way to shed pounds from my middle, because it's not shrinking. Granted, the past two weeks haven't been great for me, but by now, with all the exercise and calorie-counting I've been doing for the past month, I really thought my jeans would be a little looser. They're definitely not though, even though my hubby says I look like I've slimmed down a bit. I know it's because of my belly- it looks like I swallowed a beach ball.
I know the best ways to get rid of belly fat are vigorous exercise several times a week, watching my diet, and most likely eliminating certain foods from my diet... I just need a push in the right direction. So I've been thinking about buying the book Prevention put out, or maybe the cookbook... any tips?

I haven't been feeling or doing well. I haven't been working out a lot, I skipped class last night. I'm just too congested, I can barely breathe. Yesterday I ate a lot of sweets and not much else. Work has been stressful- my eye started twitching!! I'm glad it's Friday...
I decided to chop off my hair yesterday. the stylist and I talked a bit about my issues with styling my hair (I'm inept) and I told her I liked side-bangs and showed her a few pics of when I had a perfect bang style a few years ago. She did a great job adding in some sass but cut the bangs too short...oh well, they'll grow. She took out a LOT of the bulk which is awesome 'cause my hair is insanely thick....I feel so much lighter and sort of edgy and trendy. I'll post a photo once I get past this cold- my bright pink nose doesn't look good in pictures haha.
Today I woke in the middle of the night with eye goop in both eyes- like, an insane amount. I've recently learned that mucus in the eyes can be a side effect of a cold... so that's just swell. It's gross. I'm going to go overdose on Mucinex and get ready for work. One plus of eating too many sweets (2 brownies, 2 sugar cookies, 1 small rice krispy treat, and one choc. covered pretzel, plus some chocolates) yesterday was I left my lunch at work since I didn't eat it. I ate most of the crap at work since we had a Val. Day party. Had a few chocolates in the evening. Joe bought me 24 red roses and two boxes of chocolates- he accidentally ordered twice! Haha. I kept the roses at work since the cat will devour any flowers that come into the house... but I'll take a pic of them, too! They're lovely.
Anyway...off I go. This weekend my plan involves a lot of rest...I want to feel better!
