So, one of my personal challenges for November was to start exercising more. I decided to start slow because I didn't want to get discouraged. I decided to look on SP.com for some short fitness videos that I could do without equipment at home and I was pleasantly surprised!
I tried doing the Cardio Kickboxing workout (10 minutes) and really liked it so that has been one I have done almost every day for the past several days. Yesterday I even did it twice for a quick 20 minute workout (though I did take a short break in between so hubby could check his email). This morning I decided to look for a few different cardio videos. I found a Jump Start Cardio Blast workout and a Swimsuit Bootcamp: Day 1 workout. I did them both! They both kicked my butt, especially the jumping one, but I feel really great about doing my 20 minutes already today, especially since I work late on Tuesdays and probably wouldn't do anything tonight.
I have been using the fitness tracker to track whenever I do a cardio video and so far, according to SP, I have already reached my cardio burn for the week which is 700 cals! I'm at 720 calories burned so far. I am -slightly- skeptical about the accuracy of that so if I feel I didn't complete a workout to the best of my ability I'll log it as around 7-8 minutes instead of 10.
I also have been trying a few of the strength videos, I think one was Squats, Lunges, and Glutes?? It was okay! I did it last week and my legs were definitely sore after. I believe it was only 6 minutes but it kept freezing on my computer so took a lot longer! I just kept doing the exercises every time it stalled so it's possible I worked out a little TOO much and that's the reason for the sore-ness. I also did the 15-Minute Desk Workout one day last week... liked it but our wooden walls are too rough on the hands for doing pushups against! LOL. I really wish the strength training videos were easier to track because I'd still like to know how many calories I'm burning even if it's not a cardio video. Anyone know if there's a way to do this?
Anyway, weighed myself Sunday and was at 190 so I was happy to see I lost those darn two pounds I'd gained. 5 pounds to go until my mid-November goal of 185!! I did well with calories yesterday. I had tracked all my calories on Sunday for Monday and ended up having fish sticks for dinner instead of salad... but I only ate 1 serving and they were 210 calories, which wasn't bad. I probably came in at about 1050 calories yesterday and burnt about 300... so I should probably start eating more during the day!!
I am feeling so pumped, positive, and motivated... LOVING IT!!! I will post pictures and measurements soon.

So, I fell short of my October goal of losing 10 pounds, I actually gained 4 in a week last week... really depressing but it's MY fault. I made bad choices every night for some reason. I don't know why and I'm honestly not going to waste time stressing out about it. I'm still planning to try on some smaller jeans this weekend and hope a pair fits so at least I made one of my two Oct. goals, but the weight didn't happen. It sucks but now I'm challenged to do better for November so I don't feel this way anymore!
My main goals for November are to follow a South Beach diet until those 4 pounds I gained last week are gone to just kind of jumpstart and get myself back in a positive direction. Basically it means cutting out carbs, starches, and sugars for a few weeks- the official Phase 1 length for those following South Beach is 2 weeks. I usually mess up before then so I'm aiming to a week to start!
I am setting a goal weight of 185 for November 10th. It's not unreasonable if I stick with South Beach because you can lose 8-15 pounds in those two weeks if you stick to Phase 1 and I've done it before! I think keeping my ultimate goal for November of 175 is a little too steep, since that would be 20 pounds in a month, so I'll re-evaluate after the 10th.
My MAIN GOAL this month is to WORK OUT. I just don't exercise and I simply HAVE TO START. Starting today with a few short videos from SparkPeople, right now!
