Well, technically tomorrow is my birthday, but I celebrated today. My coworker brought cupcakes for the staff in my room and the 8 students that came to school today. I did GREAT on the diet at work with the exception of my birthday treat. But I forgot my gym shoes so no workout...eh. I had a bazillion errands to run after work including getting a new license (which says my weight RIGHT ON THE FRONT, WTF NH?!?!) and getting the car inspected/oil changed. Got home, Joe and Chloe went to go swimming for a bit at the lake, I stayed with Spencer and proceeded to ignore my diet for the rest of the evening. Now, I'm feeling full and guilty. I have decided that we are not doing dinner out tomorrow which was our original plan, and I am going to the gym and getting back on track with this.
Yesterday, I bought myself a replacement engagement ring as a gift to myself since I lost mine quite some time ago. We're broke, so my original ring cost $9 and I loved it. My replacement cost $10 and is definitely different from my usual style:
I also bought a chair from Target yesterday because I rearranged the living room last weekend and now the couch isn't exactly at the best angle for viewing the tv:
it is quite comfortable and Joe is really happy with it (he was the one complaining about the living room, lol)
Today, Joe went out and bought me a pretty necklace for my birthday that I knew he wanted to get me:
I'd seen it several months ago and thought it was cute (although the caption engraved on the back [shown in the pic] is super cheesy) and he remembered and told me he wanted to buy it for me.
He also came home with a digital scale! It's pretty sweet... I forget the brand already, lol. But, it's nice to have a new scale finally.
Tomorrow, we might go berry picking if I can find an orchard that's open. Otherwise we're just going to have a relaxing day. I'm just looking forward to spending the day with my family. My parents put money in the bank for me as my bday gift and we got $130 in the mail today from selling some cds/dvds online, so we're doing well in the financial department which is honestly the best birthday gift- a break from my constant worrying!
It's weird, I definitely do not feel as though I'm turning 26 tomorrow.

I have been trying to avoid the internet lately (okay, so, I missed 1 day)... and I find it really messes up my progress when I don't check in on SP!
Yesterday was okay. Not perfect. Lots of stuff going on that I don't feel like blogging about. One is that I need to get my license renewed, and I went yesterday, stood in line FOREVER, only to find I didn't have the proper crap with me since I'm transferring from another state. I was so pissed. Oh well. Get to go back today, how fun.
Yesterday, I didn't go to the gym. Had errands to run on my lunch break and the DMV to visit after work. I'm going to go today, I really am slacking.
Joe and I finally got our financial aid refunds from Walden deposited into our bank account so we're not broke now- just have about $2100 in bills to take care of. UGH. When it rains, it pours. At least we have the money now with about $1500 left over, and I get paid tonight at midnight, too.
My parents want to visit July 21-22, and take us all on a mini-vacation to Springfield, Mass. It will be nice to see them and do some fun family stuff. Chloe I think will really enjoy getting to stay in a hotel!
Anyway, I'm getting back on track today. Saturday is my birthday and I plan on enjoying myself for ONE meal but being on the plan the rest of the day. We haven't decided if we're going out to eat or what. And I think my co-worker is bringing me a cupcake tomorrow, so that will be a treat. I'm going to make fruit salad to share with the girls. We're having a PJ party in my classroom... fun stuff.

Here's my menu for today...
B: chocolate shake (warmed it, was delicious!), 1 orange
AM: 1/2 c. strawberries, 1 c. watermelon, some apple slices
L: "Shrimp Scampi" *see story below* w/ 2 c. stir-fry veggies
PM: 1/2 c. red peppers, 1/2 c. snap peas, 3 oz baby carrots w/ 2 tbsp f.f. ranch, vanilla shake
D: 2 c. green beans (sauteed in a bit of spread), a few mushrooms, Banquet Turkey meal
D: Kashi chocolate peanut butter bar, watermelon
Didn't keep up with counting calories today, oh well. Some days I just don't feel like going through the process.
Anyway, about my lunch... I had a Michelina's Lean Gourmet Shrimp Scampi meal that I was going to mix with veggies. I cooked it last night so it would be ready to go today. However, it was oddly missing all the sauce and veggies! It was just dry noodles and some shrimp. So I added a bit of soy sauce and my two cups of veggies and it was pretty good. Just weird that it got packaged missing some key components...
I barely worked out today. I did 10 minutes (2.07 miles) on the bike at lunch before I got interrupted by a phone call I had to take. I think it's rude to talk on the phone in the gym so I just walked a couple of laps on the track and went back to work. I didn't go after work today... just really wasn't in the mood. At home I did my arm strength exercises and danced around a bit. I'm tired today... probably going to head to bed soon. My kids are spending the morning with me at work so I need to 1) make my lunch tonight and 2) get up early to get them ready. So off I go!
Oh, one small victory; we have ice cream for the kids in the freezer and today I reaaaaaally wanted some. BUT instead I had my Kashi bar, which is on the plan. I did eat 1/2 a pretzel rod and three cheez-its today........ oops.

So, today was great. I was super hungry though. Because silly me put my shake that I was going to have in the afternoon in the freezer at work to chill it for a few minutes, completely forgot about it until I was about to go up to the gym for my 2nd visit. In the interim I had the world's smallest apple.
Today my workouts were pretty good. I rode the bike for 25 minutes on lunch (4.77 miles) and walked/ran on the treadmill for 35 minutes after work (1.80 miles). Total I burnt 309 calories. I really pushed myself to jog for more than a minute on/minute off this time. It felt good. Right when I thought I had pretty much hit the running wall this song by Usher came on Pandora. Typically, I don't listen to a lot of pop or hip-hop, but I find I like it for my workouts. It just gets me more amped up then the indy stuff I usually listen to. Anyway, the Usher song came on and the lyrics just inspired me to keep going:

It had a good beat which helped, but it was really the lyrics that made the impact.
So, that was pretty cool. I might download the song and make a playlist if I could ever figure out how to put my own music on my Kindle. Then, right about the end, I was just getting so sluggish, and Call Me Maybe came on. I know it's a terrible song, but I love it. And it just pumped me up to finish my workout strong. I was so proud of myself for not quitting after 20 minutes like I was tempted to. My workouts today totaled 60 minutes instead of the 40 I was planning on.
Anyway, my menu for today:
B: vanilla shake w/ 1 c. mixed berries
AM: 1/2 c. sugar snap peas, 3 oz. baby carrots, 1/2 c. canned green beans
L: Chicken Alfredo Florentine w/ 1.5 c. mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot mix)
PM: 1 c. peaches, 1 small apple, chocolate shake
D: Chicken Quesadilla w/ 2 tbsp salsa
D: vanilla shake w/ 1/2 c. blueberries
Total Calories: 1,436 (food) minus 309 (exercise)= 1,127
I also have some raw veggies and 1 tbsp of fat-free ranch on my menu if I get hungry, it was originally part of dinner but I wasn't hungry enough when I ate my quesadilla.
I plan on doing some arm exercises tonight and adding that to my daily routine. I also am going to start tracking my fitness here on SparkPeople in addition to on my Kindle. Anyway, that's all from me tonight!

I figured out what was wrong with our scale- it doesn't stay on zero after you get off of it. So I adjusted it a tiny bit and got it to return to zero. Weighed myself since it's my day, and after 3 times it said 189 each time. I have to take it, I'm happy it's going down and it's been months since I've been in the 180's. 185 is my lowest since being preggo and I'm almost there...
I've decided to track calories this week to see if it helps me figure out why the plan isn't working for me. I added up my menu for today, so far I'm at about 1100. I have to add one last shake (170) and 1/2 c. of blueberries, that's my "dessert" tonight.
I'm going to start doing a nightly menu recap blog as well in the hopes that it will help. Maybe if others see my menu they might notice something I'm doing wrong.
