Sneaking Veggies

So I made ghoulash last night and thought I would beef it up a bit! The kids LOVED it! When we finished eating I asked if they knew what all they ate and they said no. I started listing off the veggies: tomatoes, corn, onion, carrots, and green beans! They argued with me forever about the carrots! They said they didn't see any in there so I didn't really add them! Lol! Lttle do they know I do this with lots of dishes! It was just the first time with ths dish!

I gave notice to work today! I am officially a SAHM! It felt surreal after I hung up the phone! I am totally looking forward to this though!

    that's great to sneak in the veggies. I need to start doing that because it's hard to get my veggies in daily. Congrats on being a SAHM!!!!! I hope one day I too can be a SAHM. Enjoy!

Update after baby

I didn't realize howlong it has been since I updated! Baby is doing great! We just had his two month check up yesterday and he has almost doubled his birth weight. He is now 8 lbs 10 oz! The adjustment with four kids has been like nothing. Declan is such a good baby! He is so alert and doesn't fuss much at all! The other boys are really good with him! It's been nice so far!

I have decided not to return to work. We have a lot of appointments with specialist and I would be away from work more than I would be there. We are having therapists come to the house to work with his hand, which bends sideways towards his thumb. They also want to make sure he is meeting certain milestones with his missing arm. We are trying to make sure he doesn't fall behind developmentally in any way. We are going to Riley's Children's Hospital in Indy to see a pediatric orthopedic specialist next month. So things are going well.

As far as my weight, I am still down 5 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. I haven't been doing anything like I wanted to, but I really haven't been sitting around either! We are out of town for a family reunion but I have decided I am going to really start kicking butt on this, not just weight loss but health overhaul!

I have been really worried about my oldest son and his health. He isn't very active and he eats a lot more of the foods he doesn't need. So I am trying to incorporate healthy eating into family meals. We just recently bought a dinner table big enough for all of us to sit at, so instead of eating in front of the TV we are sitting together at the table. I think that has helped a lot. And most of thetime Declan is in his swing facing the table while we are eating!

I am not on my computer so I will be posting pictures later! Goodluck to all on the challenges. I wish I had of made it online intime to participate! But I am going to start some type of challenge starting next week! This week I will be working on portion control!

    so glad you were able to find time to hop on here and give us an update. I've been checking your page and it's great to read that you baby is doing great! Wow! Baby is here!

So the night of my last water broke! 4weeks and a day early! I was terrified! But things went well. He was face down and turned so all my labor pains were in my my back and hips. I did not get the epidural and they gave me the lowest dose of patocin (sp?). He arrived safe and quick! So quick the nurses refer to me as 'the one who went in 15 minutes!' lol

Baby Declan was born April 30 at 4 lbs 8.4 oz and 17 1/4 in long! He is perfect in every way!

I have never heard of his name.. How do you pronounce it? What nationality is it?? I am so fascinated with names and their backgrounds.. Is it Irish or Scottish? It is very unique and beautiful!

Plan of Attack!

Just a couple more weeks and Baby Declan will be here!! And I can get back to my weight loss journey!! Iím super excited about both!! I have a list of things to do this week and next in preparation for bringing baby home and one thing on my list is devising a plan to get this weight off in the healthiest way possible! We have the crib set up, the clothes washed, the swing and bouncy seat put together, and the stroller ready! Now I need to finish up my cleaning and start planning my strategy for weight loss!

I do not have any ridiculous expectations for weight loss. I know Iím not going to lose it overnight and I know it is going to take time to get into a routine with baby. But I want to be pro active about this. I donít want the day to get here and then put it off for another year or two. So, here is my plan: I am going to start slow. Everything revolves around babyís schedule, I know this. But I am going to fit in a walk when I can, when I feel up to it. (Iím not going to be able to jump right in the day I get home!) My biggest focus in the beginning is going to be my diet. I have some slow cooker recipes I am going to prepare, some dump and go recipes that I have tried in the past. And Iím going to pre-make some meatloaf and other meals I know my family loves. I am not going to be concerned with calories in the beginning. Iím breast feeding, so I need to eat healthy and more often. Small meals with snacks. No sodas or sugary drinks! Iíve missed these, but the last few times I have had a soda it has tasted horrible, so I am done with those!

Iím not sure what kind of exercises I can do while on my 6 week recovery. I am going to look into that. I had a fitness video for after baby but I think I got rid of it. :( I am just going to take exercise one step at a time and not push myself too hard. Once I am ok to get back to exercise I have my Zumba DVD set that I bought shortly before I found out I was expecting. I really liked doing Zumba with my neighbor, so I am going to start that again.

Hopefully it wonít take too long to get into a routine with baby! Iím feeling really motivated!

    how exciting! I know you will be able to met your goals in time. You'll loose some weight just giving birth and breast feeding. Praying you have a smooth and save labor and that you and baby D get home quickly to bond at home! Take care =)

35 weeks today! I had an ultrasound yesterday (up to two a week on top of my weekly dr. appointment)! Baby Declan is doing great! Here are the comparisons of my last three ultrasounds:

Two weeks ago, he was estimated at 3 lbs. 11 oz. putting him in the 10% growth rate. They thought there was a problem with my placenta not doing what it is supposed to, so they've been checking the flow between baby and me. Last week my levels were elevated so I had to go back in a couple days to recheck--levels went down, which was good but still concerning.

This week, baby Declan is 4 lbs. 14 oz and now in the 14%! My levels are normal and baby is doing great! The only thing they are concerned about now is the fluid around baby is slightly lower than they like. I have to go back tomorrow to have my fluid levels checked along with baby's vitals. That will determine how soon I have baby. If they find it was just a dehydration issue (because I was drinking more caffeinated beverages last week) then I'll be induced at 38 weeks. If my fluid levels are still low I could have him as early as next week! AHH!

We were a little concerned because last week he was breech. Now he is head down and hopefully stays that way! I do not want a c-section! That was mentioned while I had my 6 yr old in to see the ultrasound and I had to explain to him what that meant. He was totally freaked out! And I tried to explain it to where it wouldn't scare him but he is a total worry wart like his mom! He is ok knowing now that they do not have to do a c-section (as long as he stays in position!).

I am super excited to meet my little man and cannot wait to get back into my workouts! I miss my walking routine! I can't hardly walk now without these Braxton Hicks contractions and it is driving me crazy! I received my jogging stroller/carseat combo day before yesterday so I am totally psyched about that! I am pretty sure this diabetic diet has completely destroyed my taste for certain unhealthy foods (like french fries) and I'll be eating better than ever before! And I am still only at a total of 10 lbs. gained! That is crazy to me! I mean it's not like I am trying not to gain weight, I just haven't been able to gain anything but baby weight! I'm all belly!

Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and kicking butt with their fitness goals! I'm looking forward to joining in on the challenges as soon as I am clear for working out!

    Praying that you get to go for your full 38 weeks! You're doing great with the weight gain. I had gestational diabetes and that is what I think helped me only gain 13 lbs total. I was induced at 39 weeks since that's why they say when you're diabetic which is weird! i think I could have gone the full 40 as my son was only 6 lbs 11 oz. Best of luck to you!!
