Home again

Friday, August 21, 2009

We left Moab around 7am and were home 10:45, despite the roadworks in Monticello - why they have to dig up the whole town at once beats me!
We picked up the mail, unloaded the car, got a few things sorted and went to Pagosa and picked up the mail over there and did chores. I stocked up on salad, fruit and lean turkey. I'm sort of dreading the scale tomorrow and hoping it won't be too bad. My clothes still fit ok but my tummy indicates at least a couple of pounds.. I'll be happy to have kept it under 5... tomorrow will tell...

Going home

Thursday, August 20, 2009

It's been a fun 2 weeks... the coast was wonderful, the redwoods amazing and Las Vegas is like a Disney World for grown ups. All in all we've had a wonderful time, still it will be good to be back home and into a routine again. We've had a lot of great food, stayed away from the junk but I can tell I've gained a few pounds. Back to reality soon!

Yes - it sounds like you had a great time. It's good that you stayed away from the junk, but it is very hard to be away from home and stay completely on track. I'm sure once you get back with your consistent yoga and exercise, you'll get right back to where you used to be.

It sounds like quite an adventure, traveling from place to place...cool! Glad to hear you had fun and enjoyed your time away!
Reality will always be waiting for us when we get back... ;-)
Take care & SPark On!

Phantom

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Last night we went to see "Phantom of the Opera". It was amazing!! The special effects were great and didn't distract from the show but rather enhanced it. However we were glad we didn't sit further forward under the chandelier...
We'd missed dinner and ended up having a late supper - Wolfgang Puck's pizza margharita - yum.
We're leaving tomorrow - back to the real world and watching what I eat again. At least I've gotten all my walking and stretching in, that may have offset some of the calories...
It's been a wonderful trip but it will be equally wonderful to be back home again.

Las Vegas!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

We left Oxnard at 7:30 this morning in the mist and cool air. We arrived in Vegas around 2pm and it was 109F at one point - what a difference. After a week or so of cool temps this felt nice.
We checked into the Venetian and the room is gorgeous. It's a lot busier than it was in January so we had quick stroll around to get our bearings. We had a lovely dinner - italian of course :) The best thing was that my "tidy" slacks still fit well, they're normally the first to show any gain....

Oxnard, CA

Monday, August 17, 2009

We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge in a fog, down to Santa Cruz where there was a lot of smoke in the air from the fires. The smoke didn't clear out till we got to Carmel/Carmel-by-the-sea. That place was like noting else I've ever seen! Expensive cars all over the place, designer shops - very upscale. We couldn't get out of there fast enough - it felt like Aspen, Co or the Hamptons magnified. We stopped for lunch in Big Sur in a cabin on the side of the road - the best burger I've had in a while. Real beef :)
We decided to continue south and stay in Oxnard, a place we enjoyed back in January...Hmmm the weather was the same then... Of course we didn't count on the Sunday traffic going back to LA and were held up for about an hour in Santa Barbara. Here in Oxnard we fond the same motel as last time and even managed to find the same place to eat in the harbor. Not that easy as we entered the town from the other end and the harbor is about 10 times as busy then last time.

Sounds like you're having a great time. I was in Big Sur once - many years ago. Nice area...would love to drive through it again. emoticon
