We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge in a fog, down to Santa Cruz where there was a lot of smoke in the air from the fires. The smoke didn't clear out till we got to Carmel/Carmel-by-the-sea. That place was like noting else I've ever seen! Expensive cars all over the place, designer shops - very upscale. We couldn't get out of there fast enough - it felt like Aspen, Co or the Hamptons magnified. We stopped for lunch in Big Sur in a cabin on the side of the road - the best burger I've had in a while. Real beef :)
We decided to continue south and stay in Oxnard, a place we enjoyed back in January...Hmmm the weather was the same then... Of course we didn't count on the Sunday traffic going back to LA and were held up for about an hour in Santa Barbara. Here in Oxnard we fond the same motel as last time and even managed to find the same place to eat in the harbor. Not that easy as we entered the town from the other end and the harbor is about 10 times as busy then last time.
