Wedding dress challenge ?

On March 20th we will celebrate our 25th anniversary and I had been thinking about my wedding dress. It was also my mom's wedding dress and I have kept it in case my DD want to wear it some day.
I thought it might be a challenge to try and get to my wedding weight of 132 and lo nad behold this week there is a new spark challenge called the Wedding dress challenge... how timely...

In the summer of 2006 I came within 2 pounds of my wedding weight and actually tried on my dress, it almost zipped up - the last 3 inches wouldn't go. I guess some of my extra weight was in the bust and back area (having kids might have something to do with that!) Still I felt really good about how far I had come. Unfortunately some of the weight I'd lost has crept back on and I'm a little over 10 pounds heavier now and need to lose 14 pounds to get to my wedding weight - that seems a lot to lose in 2 months! Still any pound lost is another one gone, right? So I'll give it a shot and see where I end up on my anniversary

Last night was the big fund raiser for the local food bank with entertainment from dance troupes and the Sonoran Ballet. It was fun to meet up with friends and watch the colorful and energetic performances.

Shrimp spaghetti

Yesterday I grilled a kilo of shrimp - lots of leftovers :) and made a spaghetti sauce from scratch: garlic, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and a generous splash of red wine.
Tri-color spaghetti and some steamed broccoli and we had a lovely lunch with a small glass of red wine on the side.



The leftover shrimp will be great with the curry from the other day and in a salad. Yum!

Yesterday was my 4 year sparkiversary - thank you Donna for reminding me :)
Over the last 4 years I haven't made much progress with my weight, probably because I'm at a weight that's good for my height and life style (5'8' - 142-146 pounds) - that doesn't mean I stop trying to get back to 140 or below!
On the exercise front I've made big improvements. For years now I do a 25 minute yoga session an average of 4-5 times a week, the last couple of months I have added 30 min to an hour brisk walks at least 3 times a week and this week I've done my first Bow Flex session - more to follow!

The biggest gain from being here has been the wonderful spark friends I've found!

    Remember, most people who join Sparks QUIT, so you are a winner just for staying with this for four years. I'm not at my goal after 4 years, but I know if I had quit I'd be about 314# now rather than where I'm at. I've never been over the 214# that I was the day I joined, so I think that is a great accomplishment. It is easy to gain more each and every year once your already fat.

    congrats to you for 4 years with sparks. I think you have made much progress. Through Sparks you are more aware of eating healthy and exercise. who knows where you would be if you didn't have the support and community here.
